Ah **** that UI comparison, DA:I takes way too much screen space, i really wish i can reduce its size as its extremely big and tacky.

This game was definitely made by console-focused developers. Nothing about this game feels well developed for the pc platform. The tactical mode is horrible, the lack of custom controls is horrible and the controls they gave us are terrible. PC version didn't even ship with a toggle-walk feature when console version did and we have a massively superior control scheme they can design around (mouse and keyboard) over a controller. You don't see anybody playing starcraft 2 with a controller for a reason. What in the hell? What the F did we do to deserve this kind of treatment. Paying PC customers need to suffer because of pirates? Is that where this is going?
Tired of this crap. Bioware is dumbing down everything they do at this point and they're going into this hello kitty island version of what they used to be all about, which used to be rich tactical games where you felt immersed and connected to your character. Want to know how connected I am to my dragon age inquisition character? Stopped at level 11, haven't played it since November. Can't even allocate stat points in this kiddy grind of a game, origins tactical mode was way superior and user-friendly than this crappy tac cam. Even the spells were dumbed down. The u.i compared to origins and even DA:2 is a clunky giant mess. Maxis did the same thing with simcity and the sims 4 compared to their previous versions, (this some EA publisher trend now or what?).
Since when is dumbing-down features and controls in a game supposed to be innovation. This backwards bullcrap in regards to game design needs to stop. Remember when you gave people OPTIONS? Like, auto-level characters stat points or let people like me that want to actually play the game allocate them ourselves? Take away more control and options please and just slap your crappy game on an IPAD because that's where this is heading.

Quote: "Through a series of circumstances it was decided that with my not wanting to participate on Dragon Age 2 it was time to transition in a new lead to finish the Dragon Age CONSOLE VERSIONS and ramp up for Dragon Age 2."
(Caps are mine)
Three guesses who that was ...
He has never been a friend or proponent of PC gaming and the complexity and innovation possible with gaming on PC.
Thus the "dumbing down" and ass-backwards "innovation" we are experiencing as he consolizes all their games with awesomeness.

I usually don't pay much attention to EA Store and any offers they might be having, but today I noticed this:
(It probably was there earlier, but I couldn't give a damn)

"The Finest RPG in Existence." -The Sun
You mean the same Sun that thought the Deus Ex was real?
Really?
TBH, if something is written in The Sun, it's basically a BS.
lol... I can't even...
I mean DA:I is not necessarily terrible, but "The Finest RPG in Existence" is a tad exaggerated, don't you think?

Oh well sucks to be you. Perhaps you are just outgrowing video games in general after you hit your 60th B-day? I personally am loving it and am a die hard PC gamer.

Oooor he didn't lower his standards. While Bioware clearly did, and some "young" gamers.
Good that you are having fun with so little, but do not judge us for wanting them to be better.

Oh you.
You cannot outgrow games. It's an impossibility. I'm old too. I'm just not hip with the gross over simplification of the UI for the sake of conformity to console-esque(sp?) standards on the PC. However, if this is how design for PC games is going to be in the future well then - it's all yours scootshoot. I can't recall a convergence so aptly muddled, but my memory is hazy at best, old age you understand.

Well. Being incommunicado for a month after what many see a bit of a rushed release, then shutting down the main thread for those with issues with the game first thing wasn't exactly a diplomatic move. Josephine would disapprove if she could. Even if the thread had long since degraded into Bioware bashing. It would likely just spill into other threads and spread the "extended holiday cheer" there anyway. This way some of the toxin is contained. You might say Bioware realized respeccing out of toxic cloud isn't a bad idea with friendly fire. ![]()

When there was anyone from Bioware around, think just after Darrah started this thread, it was civil and productive.
Bioware has not been productive on this and many other forums. "Productive" on Twitter maybe.
And definitely not civil, more like invisible, except for the very occasional moderator that lets us know things are being read, but ignored.
It is a joke! This topic was started by BIOWARE! The more that Bioware ignores and refuses to appear on it's own forum, the more uncivil and unproductive it becomes.
390 pages, 9000 posts, 100,000 views and 1 post from a moderator! Appalling!

The unfortunate thing is that this little fiasco will lump forum goers, and by extension fans, in a single category. That of the rabid, unhappy, entitled gamer. And I resent that. Design choices such as how the game plays in regards to fetch quests, character development, world building and what have you -- those are all the prerogative of BioWare to implement into their game. We can be critical of them, but I don't feel that we should decry BioWare for making the decisions they did in this regard.
HOWEVER! The technical aspects, the plethora of bugs, the absolutely non-functioning tactical camera, the false marketing and ABOVE ALL the appalling and negligent way they are handling customer service and public relations -- they are things that absolutely should be criticized and, if at all possible, remedied in some form or another.
The fact that the thread is becoming derailed is a symptom of the fact that there is no communication from anyone who has a modicum of control over the development of the game. None.
The thread did not become derailed due to BioWare's fans being a bunch of whingey, entitled cretins.
Here's the thing: respect begets respect.
People will start to 'respect' the company a lot more if they start to show a bit of 'respect' to the community. And people might argue that it is not BioWare's responsibility to dish out respect to a group of ungrateful and vocal consumers. So they become more vocal and ungrateful. It is a vicious cycle and can be fixed, once and for all, by a degree of god damn communication. This is what is sorely lacking on every single platform of contact with the company, and it is simply not good enough.
Fix the attitude and philosophy BioWare, and do it soon for your own sake.

Haha! Knew they were going to unlock this thread eventually as without a containment thread it's bound to spill over everywhere.
Personally though I've moved on. The writers/actors/artists still impressed me hence I'm looking forward to the next Bioware title. However I no longer see any wisdom in pre-ordering in the future from Bioware, especially as a PC user.
If their next game has solid user reviews on release then sure, I'll pay full price. If it turns out like DAI again then ok, save my money, wait until its patched and to acceptable standards. I took time off last year to immerse myself fully into the experience and planned my leave in accordance to the release date. Stupid thing to do. Lesson learnt.

I'm never pre-ordering another Bioware title. Furthermore, I am ignoring any reviews I see about games as the reviewers have all been bought. I see no posts by any gaming jouranlists, anywhere, regarding the current state of the unplayable game (massive bugs causing slow-motion stuttering on the highest-end systems -- which were fine running everything on ultra prior to patch2. Clearly whatever they tweaked to try and fire off party-banter more often causes a memory leak).
How will I know if a Bioware title is worth purchasing? I won't. Maybe I'll buy it for $5 a few years later or maybe I'll just ignore it altogether. I see nothing but pain involved in purchasing and being teased and unable to play in any meaningful way and getting absolutely no updates from staff *months* after I purchased it. The holiday excuse means nothing to me; that ceased being relevent weeks ago. The lack of concern, more the lack of simple acknowledgement that there *is* a memory leak (100% cpu usage) introduced in patch2's hotfix, is damning.
