Oh, my sweet summer child....Have they fixed the PC controls yet? The game is practically unplayable on the PC unless you are using a controller (as it seems they made this game for the consoles specifically).

Honestly, I fail to see what is wrong with the PC controls. I've already played through the game twice and currently on a third run. I've had no problems at all. The only annoyance is the lack of a toggle 'walk'. Awkward to sprint through Skyhold like the keep is under siege or on fire.

My gripes with the controls remains:
- Walk button(s): A toggle would be nice but due to the action adventure/environmental puzzles a hold to walk function is very useful (Try the mod and feel the difference). 3 Movement speeds like in the mod would be great too, however walk/run are the basic essentials.
- Mouse button remapping: Important as the action elements need more precise timing then previous titles - namely block.
- Mouse look toggle: As above. Blocking needs to be on the mouse. At the moment I'm using Q, it's alright but not intuitive but I make do with what I've got.
- Tactical camera automatic angle switching needs an option to toggle on/off: Currently I'm having to pull it down each time, which then leads to the next problem.
- Tactical camera zoom too close: Not to mention pulling it down puts the camera INSIDE your PC, so trying to use click to move/auto attack tends to end up clicking on yourself.
However Lycana, I have encountered ALL of your listed issues, but that isn't limited to just PC controls.
Also, to add to your list.
- The companion holding is working but the problem is that companions teleport (A pain in the butt against lightning dragons as your teleporting party members with the lightning ring will teleport to zap you! Not to mention taking tactical positions on the battlefield)
- Inability to click/drag to select and/or a select all party members function
- Changing party members in tac cam recenters the camera making it frustrating to target especially if the party member needing orders is on the back ranks.

You all realize we are the laughing stock at BooWare, right? In between GOTY tweets and congratulatory water cooler back slaps, this thread is the punchline to every breakroom joke.
Mark Darrah on twitter, when asked whether we could get controls for keyboard & mouse, by a player who (obviously) meant fixes to it: "there is a control scheme for keyboard & mouse".
Last week. Like I said, they're taking it seriously4srs. Punchline is correct.

Here is my story: First I waited for the first bigger patch and started playing as a ranged rogue (Remember the time there you could make a ranged warrior?)
Relatively quickly I get used to never use TacCam, because it is simply not working. DA:O as in DA2 btw. I paused every battle and controlled my whole party. Tank Shield Bash, Rogue Stun, Mage Sleep and so on and you know what? It was fun! Beeing in controll of the battle, knowing if and when a party member is in danger, or should get out of the way. Now i have to hold the Attack Button and hack through my abilities not even knowing what is going on. I turned off every AoE ability of the mage in my party because with friendly fire on (turning this off is cheating) my mage with this great AI is killing either himself or my partymembers.
Fighting a dragon? Looks really epic and awesome. Is it fun? Meh! I dont know what is going on in those fights! My party is scattered all other the place and suddenly someone runs towards me or spawns right beside me and I dont know why. So I am just standing there and firing my arrows till the thing is dead.
This way the fighting system is simply a lvl/gear check. If you are 2-3 lvls above the content you kill everything, if not, well come back later.... You dont need any skill to play this game, because it doesn´t matter how and when you use your skills. I am not saying that you can play this game without your skills, but I am pretty sure there is a playthrough in the making trying exactly that.
And the items? Rings, belts amueletts are a joke! It is 2014/2015! Be creative! Games from 1980s had rings with +1 to magic or +2 to strenght. Now we get 30% more dmg to a skill, or more CritDmg/CritChance.... great. Great decision to streamlining that roleplay aspect of this game. You remember defense stuff? Dodge- or Blockchance? Or missing? I dont even know how much health points my char has, not even sure if there are numbers left to calculate with. I love diving in in good game mechanics and try to figure out in which direction I would like to lvl my char. With lvl16 I dont even know in that I should spend those future skill points.
And I dont think that this game can go in a direction we all are hoping for. Because you cannot simply patch the basic mechanics and systems of this game. Even with a functional TacCam and AutoAttack fighting is still gonna be a simple lvl-check.
After coming back here to check if a new patch is coming, I read the last 20-30 pages of the thread and now I lost all remaining hope. Dont know if I gonna finish this game and that would be a new experience for me, a sad one...

Yeah that kind of response, especially from Mr Executive Producer himself, is a sure sign that in their arrogance they are blissfully unaware of just how bad the KB&M control scheme really is. And it is also a sure indication that we will not see any improvement in Patch 3.

True. But they got rid of things that worked fine before because they think console gamers just want to press "awesome buttons", not managing a party strategically

It's kind of sad that this thread has basically become a... dumping ground... for us people who feel like we need to make noise regarding the control scheme on PC. By this point, I think it's clear we are never going to get a/ a clear answer b/ improvement patch that actually works on improving stuffs from Bioware.
Sad guys... but there it is. I kept checking this thread in hope of new updates but it's not looking like it's going to happen.

In all those reviews I read I didnt get it what this Tactical Camera should be. I was used to hit pause, scroll out as far as it was necessary and simply order my group what to do. I have no idea that was wrong with that, who was like: "Hey we should change that!"; "Awesome idea dude, let's do that!"? Do they really think they had done a good job with that? I mean its clear that this was designed for the console players, because you have to streamline the controlls to do tactical stuff on consoles, but are console users happy with the end result or even use it that often? I dont know, as a PC-User I simply feel insulted!

WELL, we dont have the news about patch 3 yet, but Pillars of Eternity will launch 26 March. Since I do think that we wont have a patch that will fix everything in Inquisition anytime soon, at least now we all have a date to finally get some amazing deep RPG in the near future.

This! I am totally with you! I once thought it was just the PC "controls." Now I know the game is rotten to the core. They'll never fix it cause that would mean bringing back tactics, complex skills/spells, etc.,etc. Ain't going to happen. It's a console single player MMO thingamajig, POS.
