Hey everyone,
The hotfix for Patch 2 on PC is now live. Thanks for all your patience on this, we appreciate it.
I'm running:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Intel Core i5-4570 @ 3.20GHz
8.0GB RAM
AMD Radeon R9 280X (drivers up to date)
Inquisition ran perfectly fine until I installed patch 2, when it became completely unplayable thanks to the stuttering and freezing. After I installed the hotfix, I also ran ccleaner which seems to have helped a little, but it's still stuttering and freezing, and it doesn't look as good as it used to. I tried rolling it back but the patch was still there somehow. (Clearly I've messed up along the way).
Is there some way I can just download the game without any patches and start from there? I just wanna play my game again. I was really enjoying it (hence the 150+ hours I've played)
Thanks.
If you are having performance issues post patch, here are some steps you can try. Let me know if the issue persists.
Hey Everyone, notes for the upcoming Patch 3 on PC are now available here.
We're continuing to work on making your DA:I experience better, and we will provide more updates in the future when we can.
I can't confirm a release date just yet, but will update when I can.
Reading this, it sounds like Patch 3 was a "small things" patch, and Patch 4 will be a "big things" patch?
I'm not saying that right now, but I'm not not saying it either ![]()
I'll give you more updates when I can, but can't say much at this stage.
oh look, patch 3 notes... toggle to walk, hmmm, yea we already had that, mouse cursor scaling, hmm, I'll believe it when I see it.. hmmm... and nothing else?
Nothing for key mapping for mouse? pathfinding related functions? Tac Cam tweaks? Tac Cam camera fixes? Mouse nav? Select All button? Hide UI (all UI) button?
I see...
Conal, I know you realize we appreciate *any* communication here. But if there's more in this patch, or in a hotfix for this patch, that address any of these additional issues, we desperately would like to know, like, as soon as possible.
Trust me, I am well aware of that and have followed pretty closely what those key issues are. I unfortunately can't talk about what's in the pipeline just yet, but will provide a future update as soon as I can.
Conal, do you have any idea why Patch 3 became fixes instead of PC improvements? Scylla Costa stated on the blog that the next priority after Patch 2 was PC controls. That's the only official word we had, so what the patch has delivered is a little... confusing. Considering that the blog, support forums, and twitter has directed folks to this thread for updates, and we have not received any updates but the blog, communication has not been clear.
Obviously we're going to have to wait until Patch 4 for PC control adjustments. Accepting that would be a lot easier if more was shared about the thought processes, what happened, and what may be coming. I realize your hands may be too tied to answer any of those, but nothing ventured...
Because the development cycle for Patch 3 fell over the holiday period, our priority focus for this patch were items that blocked progress (like key drop or Dorian's quest) and other bug fixes. It's important for us that our devs have time at the holidays to spend with their loved ones and families, and after a long production cycle, this was some well deserved time off.
We are still working on future items and improvements for later patches based on the feedback we have received here and elsewhere. I can't give you any specifics as of yet, but as Scylla said, improving PC mouse and keyboard controls is still a priority for us. The fact that we weren't able to get it into patch 3 doesn't change that priority, as not at bugs and features are created (or solved) equal.
I can't provide further updates until after Patch 3 is out, but I will give more info once it's possible to do so.
So there's some misunderstanding here.
I have indeed played both DAO and DA2. I didn't play them after the game shipped.
On DAO I learned that there was a save cap on the PC (I think it was 500) because my job for the first two weeks was literally "play the game content and get familiar with it." I reached that cap twice on that playthrough. Just off the top of my head I know I played through until the end at least 5 times because of some of the achievement testing that I did. I probably played through Ostagar at least 200 times (unsurprisingly when the game was released and I tried playing it, I stopped as soon as I got to Ostagar).
DA2 was a game I worked on from earlier in the project (as opposed to DAO). Again I played through the entire game at least 5 times. And that is in its finished state. I'm not really able to talk about how many times I played through content because the number borders on some level of "immeasurably high." Ranging from unfinished, grey checkboard floors with "BAD TEXTURE" plastered everywhere because some textures just weren't done, all the way through until the finished product. I actually didn't even bother installing it after release because I had just played it so much and felt little interest in playing through it again.
Both games I feel comfortable enough saying I spent 500-1000 hours in shipped game content (and probably as much in test content).
I worked on DAI for three years. I also spent hundreds of hours in the game prerelease. But for whatever intangible reason (multiplayer does play a small part, since I do play with friends on occasion, and there were large parts of the narrative I hadn't seen that I was curious about), I looked forward to playing the game again after release and I did. My preferred platform for all three games is also the PC and I stand by the statement that I am proud of DAI (as I am DAO and DA2).
I understand that the people in this thread are not happy with the product they received which is unfortunate, but please do not misrepresent my statements.
He states that DA:I is the first he played "after release", meaning it is the first Dragon Age game that he played while not at work. It doesn't mean he didn't play Origins or DA2, he simply did not continue to play them after they were released.
Thank you. This is indeed an accurate description of my experience with the games. I appreciate you taking the time to point this out.
Allan
Please try to be a little more respectful of one another in this thread. Just because someone has a difference in opinion from you is no reason to resort to personal attacks or back and forth accusations of trolling. I encourage you all to continue to provide us with feedback, but please make sure you're doing so in a way that doesn't violate the site rules.
With regards to patching, we're continuing to work on a number of things for Inquisition based on the feedback we've received from players. I can't give you specifics at this time (and believe me, I know that's not overly helpful) but we are working hard to address the concerns and feedback we're seeing from our community on all platforms.
Also please understand that just because a particular issue hasn't been addressed to date is not an indication that we aren't working on it. We are very aware that keyboard and mouse controls are an issue the PC community is passionate about (among others). It's something we are continuing to look into and continue to treat as a priority.
As I'm sure you've heard from some of our other devs in the past, if something were an easy fix (especially something a lot of people are asking for) it would already be done. So for fixes that a lot of people want that haven't been seen yet, chances are it's a bit more complicated. That doesn't mean we aren't working on it, just that it might take a little time.
We value our player experience and want to make sure you have a great time playing Inquisition. We also continue to look at ways we can improve based on your feedback.
I appreciate that you are all passionate about BioWare and our games. Please trust that we are continuing to work on Inquisition behind the scenes, even if we can't provide more details quite yet.
@ Conal - PC Modders are standing by....they REALLY are. Take that up to corporate and give the people the toolset for the Frostbyte3 engine and your work will be soooo less. Modders can crack it it, but your updates usually clash. Please tell us if you can make this game play like Origins on a PC. If not?, then give the code to people that can make it happen. You will sell a LOT more games, Guaranteed.
There's a bit on an answer on the modding question here during our panel at PAX South. Essentially it's something we have looked at, but there are currently some technical and third party issues. It's not something we are necessarily opposed to, but there are some issues that would need to be overcome.
So, I have a bit of bad news. The rebinding of mouse buttons is unfortunately not part of the patch 5 beta. We know this is something the community has been asking for and are looking for ways to implement it in future. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
With regards to general questions, there are additional fixes in the patch 5 beta outside of the ones listed there, and we will provide a full list of changes to the participants.
The program has not opened yet for registration, but will in the near future. We'll put out an announcement once sign ups are open. It's currently only available to PC players, and I'm afraid I don't have any information on future patches on other systems.
But obviously, yes, you probably just read that the mouse buttons were out before typing a response. I understand that this is something that has been highly requested, and understand that this may be frustrating for some.
For any of you who are in the beta, please note that it may take up to 24 hours from when you signed up for the entitlement to take effect. If nothing's happened yet, don't worry. Check back in a little bit and it should be sorted.
will people be notified if they have been accepted or do we just have to keep trying the link and see if it works?
If you successfully applied yesterday (so you clicked through, accepted the NDA, and got the thank you message) then you should be part of the program. The entitlements may take a little while to propagate, so checking back every few hours would be advised. If you are still being told you can't access the forums, you can try logging out and logging in again, clearing your cache, and then restarting your browser.
Hello Conal
I signed up at around 4pm pst yesterday, accepted nda, got the thank you message. I am still unable to view that forum you linked in your patch 5 beta announcement post. I have tried the suggestions you mentioned in your quote above but no dice. Is this still just a matter of waiting it out for now?
-R
Yep, it may still take a little bit more time. We'll update you here and through Twitter once everyone's entitlements should have taken effect. If after that point restarting origin, logging out and in again, clearing your cache, and restarting your browser don't work, let me know.
Also, please be aware that your beta entitlement is attached to the Origin account you were using when you signed the NDA. If you have a different account on the forum to that Origin account, it will not be entitled. You will need to use the Origin account you signed up with for the forums.
If you successfully joined the beta you can now download the beta via origin and access the private forum.
The entitlements took a bit longer than expected today to refresh, but everything should be working now for those of you who are part of the program. If you can't see the private forum, make sure that you are logged in to the same Origin account that you used to access the beta. If you are, trying logging out, clearing your cache, and logging back in.
This has been fairly off-topic for some time now so I am locking it. If you would like to provide further feedback, please do so via our feedback boards.
