OK... Ummm... Because of the nature of forums/emails I feel I need to ask. Was this comment meant to be sarcastic saying that this is never going to happen (in your opinion) or were you going out of your way to 'attack' my post?

It was a sarcastic post. I agree with you.

Again not trolling but, I fail to see the major problem with the PC controls. Yes there could be some minor changes, like being able to map side mouse buttons and, added hotbars or ability slots but, those are UI issues, not fundamental control issues.

I am exclusively a PC gamer after trying a console and ending up confused and frustrated by the controller. DAI is pretty standard KB+M Mouse to steer and attack, keyboard to move and select abilities. Abilities will either be the F keys or the numeric keys across the top of the keyboard. WASD for directional control when you need to move in smaller increments than the mouse allows, or when you need to fire and move (strafe)

What I get out of the complaints is a bunch of console gamers that aren't willing to learn to use KB+M. Those that learned RPG gaming on a KB+M initially seem content enough with the controls. Pretty much the same as any other PC RPG/Combat game. Now I would love it if the Devs took a hint form Rift and gave us the UI expansion options that game has.

What does it say at the top of the page?

PC Community Concerns

At the very least the majority of those here are PC Gamers heart & soul and we have CONCERNS about the implementation of KB+M in DA:I.

To some of us they are annoyances and to others they are major problems.

Most of them I view as annoyances but try this ... remap your mouse buttons without resorting to third-party software.

Or how about this ... click-to-move.

Or how about ... screen-edge scrolling?

 ... mouse look?

Now try playing DA:I with just one hand ...

I have full use of both hands, but view the lack of empathy towards the disabled that the stripping of these functions shows as a BIG problem.

I wonder if there is some recourse under the American's with Disabilities Act to take BiowEAre to task over this?

Did you bothered at least to read this topic or did you pop up to say your though because man, many time people made a resume of what was missing for PC users over and over. They even linked youtube videos.

Also, if you didn't understand the WASD controls+mouse are usually for mmorpg because they're online a-rpg games and if WE don't want to play like this! We only want what was promised from the commercial video, controls from DAO. That's all.

Where the heck do you see in that video "we play with WASD mouvement just like in mmorpg" ?

No where.

This is an "oldie" but I can not unhear "we just hit A and it went smooth as silk" ...

What was I thinking?  They pressed "A" on the keyboard for some reason?  I'm an idiot.  <bangs head on the "A">

Play Dragon Age Origins... Play Dragon Age Awakening... Play Dragon Age 2... Now play Dragon Age Inquisition... Keeping in mind that we were told the game was by and for "Pc" gamers, told it would be identical to both the previous 2 installments... See the problem?

I see by your final sentence you enjoy mmo's (Rift reference). This explains your confusion... Inquisition is not an mmo... Or didnt end up as one, i should say... You clearly didnt "get" anything out of anything.. In fact, it would appear you merely glossed over some posts. By nature, many (not all) pc gamers take offense to console gaming (not myself), and clearly state as such, not using consoles at all.. It would seem you are indeed, "trolling"!

It can't possibly be identical to both Origins and 2. (Nor should it, I'm always of the opinion that sequels should be their own thing, but that's just me.)

Sure.

Let's just repeat a 400 page thread for your convenience.

PS: You're a troll

this thread is full of whine, not an easy task to read it and search for the infos.

Thanks Glosoli and KilrB for your answer,i have played the game with the default controls, they are good enough for my gameplay, only the abilities were binded to my mouse (razer naga), so i have never encountered your issues and i don't think i'm the only one :). Now i understand better why people are complaining.

I agree.  It should add, improve, innovate.  Not go backwards, which is what DA:I did (contrary to what they said/assured people of).  Tactics, gone.  Control options, gone.  It's not identical, it's gutted.

Imo, sequel should keep what made the original good and enchance the recipy.

Mass Effect serie did good in that field and I wish DA serie be threated the same.

I know, I know, not having a toggle 'Walk' on a PC Keyboard is a small issues compared to some others previously mentioned. BUT, has anyone even seen if a 'Walk' is in the works; is engineering even considering adding this option for a PC/Keyboard?

I've looked through several posts and have not seen any OFFICIAL comment about this being added in a future release.

If Bioware doesn't add a "walk button" for PC in the next patch they're just plain lazy. There is no other excuse. The functionality is there in the game/code even for PC, and with CE you can fix a walk, and even jog button, yourself. But Bioware just didn't bother to add the possibility to keybind it on the PC. You know... in the game made for PC Gamers... by PC gamers...

Controls are subjective, though if you're sincere in failing to see how they are wonky, clumsy, and a step backwards I would call into question your observational skills.

However, there is a group of people here who perused the pre-release materials, interviews, and information just as BioWare intended us to do and are not happy that the bulk of their "Made for PC by PC gamers" schtick and "Back to Origins, we heard you!" schtick was a total fabrication.  And it wasn't "marketing" in isolation, this was participation by the exec producer and designer who not only encouraged the dissemination of the information, participated in creating it, but they vanished after being asked what happened.  Darrah was in the video, created the thread to isolate it, and never came back.  Yeah, that will make people angry.  They were caught, not in "marketing", but in outright lies.  I am, sincerely, baffled how they could be okay with having that level of integrity.  I expect distortion, glossing, hype, half-truths, and obsfuscations.  I do not expect or accept flat-out deception.  The only reason I stick my head in is to see if they've fessed up (we don't expect this), apologized (also not expected), or stepped up and fixed things to match what they promised (I no longer expect this, but I assumed the best at the beginning of December - MY tone didn't change until a month after release with zip interaction after another producer told folks to keep an eye on the thread for updates.  That post is still up on the BioWare blog, by the way, still telling people to look in this thread for never-materialized updates.).

I guess you can translate pissiness over integrity as an unwillingness to learn KB+M even though I don't own a console, but I wouldn't.

I think I just dont care anymore. The game is broken, and it will be my last bioware game. BW deserved to enter the halls of games that I only buy for 5$. I'm not mad anymore, 2015 seems to be great fo CRPGs (Pillars, Torment) and I still need to play some others (Divinity, Wasteland 2). Damn, we will have witcher 3. I understand all the pain, we all paied for the game and we all love DA:O and we are PC users and its a punch in the gut see what Dragon Age has become, so lets all of us understand that its dead and pray for indie developers to save our soul.

I'm both a console and a pc gamer, though I prefer pc, vastly prefer the pc. I find control sticks to be inaccurate in most shooters for an example. now, my biggest issues with the pc controls, they aren't accurate enough for my tastes, and from time to time using a single key on my keyboard will activate several, for instance a lot of the time, switching characters when I have the game paused will un-pause it (doesn't matter if I click on a portrait or use the F1-4 keys). not fun when you're setting up a fairly complex ambush. there are other control issues though, & I don't wish to rehash what's been said, even though such issues I do find annoying too. also, I hate when I tap a key and get no reaction, that happens with DA:I a lot too, for me at least.

???

Not sure what I did, but you are welcome.

I try not to rant or whine but sometimes ...

I found the default controls good enough for my gameplay too, in the beginning. A bit difficult, but adequate ... in the beginning.

Now I have a bunch of abilities I cannot use because ... not enough slots/keys, and all the other shortcomings of the scheme and UI are bothering me more and more as I play.

Am I the only one that actually likes the "search" function?

Coming from table-top and early crpg's where you actually had to SEARCH for things I've always thought the "see everything" route a real break from actual role-playing in these games though I appreciate having the option when I CANNOT find what I'm looking for.

I won't presume to speak for anyone but myself, yet here's a sticking point that seems to get echoed a lot here:

PC players want what was promised, no more, no less.

This is fair.

Just as it is fair to point out that this game does not reflect those promises.  Just as it is fair to point out just why there's a "bit of a fuss" over this.  A myriad crashes, glitches and poor choices - and the inability to even finish - let alone begin - this game is no 'minor inconvenience'!

Silence only fuels disappointment into anger.  Refusal to face any of this directly quite rightly deserves ire.  It's starting to stink of contempt and arrogance toward fans of this franchise - for paying customers - and that is also reason enough to be angry.  Unfortunately, that contempt and arrogance seems to be a fetid molestation of the entire industry and some of us don't feel like just bending over and taking it, bought and paid for GOTY's aside.  All that shows is how deep any form of actual integrity has declined.

If I'm wrong, I'll happily apologize, but I won't hold my breath.

dont understand the way from mmos to consoles here. maybe you dont like mmo gaming, but they normaly have the most quality of life features you can get on a pc......maybe because most of them are pc only titles ;)

If DAi was a game for PC Gamers made by PC Gamers I have some serious thinking to do after spending 27 of my 47yrs Pc Gaming, because there is no doubt in my mind this 3rd rendition was build for profit on the back of the DAO franchise and not for PC Gamers.

You bought a console game that happens to be working (not for everyone) on PC with zero changes from the console one, even the limitations of the controller got implemented into it and you get 90% most boring kind of mmo content and 10% good dragon age-worthy story if you play through it. Are you satisfied, sir? That means open door policy?

Open door policy means not setting a definition of "real" whatever-fan as one who likes exactly what I like in exactly the way I like it. And not being condescending and/or hostile towards others whose preferences differ from mine.
