I've just purchased Divinity:Original Sin.  -  People HERE have talked of it's merits, so I'm hopeful.  This weekend I'll play. This Dragging Age game is dragging....WOW!  How long can they take to at least tell people what they're working on fixing?  Boooware is amazing.

^^^ VoteDC - Sure, it's innocuous.....that poster still says a LOT about their attention to PC gamers/

Get the picture?

It would be nice if they came out from under their desks and told us what they are and are not going to fix on the pc version. Answers regarding the U.I and tactical mode would be a good start. That way I can stop visiting this pile of crap bioware forum that doesn't even have a separate section for PC users (only a damn thread) and console users and can stop hoping that there might be a chance that this game becomes playable on PC.

They will never do that. Silence, or ignoring, is best since it doesnt expose then to headlines on dozen of websites that would draw a lot of attention and bad press.

Keyip - Now you're getting "it".  It was a marketing and strategic point of emphasis from the beginning.

Well, nothing has changed.  I guess that I'm done here.  I'll poke into the room from time to time to tell the non-naysayers something.  The company always needs yes men and sheeple to buy their bull.  I'll be back to read and laugh at it.  PEACE------>

How is this game like any other kb/mouse game? The basics of kb/mouse combination is mouse look (without holding down a button) and the ability to bind mouse buttons.. just like in the previous DA games.   I don't know how long mouselook has been around but I can no longer remember a time when it wasn't standard and it sure didn't require me to.hold a button. I am not a spring chicken and having a button mashed the whole time tends to flare up the carpal tunnel.

Plus WASD is not used for movement; some retarded decided it was best to default map A+D do camera rotation because the person who devised it through no one would constantly hold right button for camera. The whole idea or having to hold a button to move camera is linked to a more tactical conception, but the game mechanics are action oriented, just adding more confusion to the mess.

As several other people pointed: the game was conceived with MMO/Action and tactical experiences, to appease a broader audience, and fails miserable offering below mediocre experience on both fronts.

Hello
Every time I go on Twitter and see something for DAI, I post a comment as in the game is full of bugs, when are you going to fix it, and I see people say having so much fun thanks Bioware such an amazing game. I then ask people are you guys PC players or consoles and no one ever replies about my comments even if a Bioware person is there running the tweets. Complete ignore. But I am letting them know my opinion in less than 240 characters. But still it is like we do not exist. That Twitter feed is full of 12 years old with consoles. I freaking hate consoles, they are junk boxes for the moronic masses. Patch 3 freaking bring it on so we can play this game without the bugs.

Peace out

EARWIGS!

Also, to the joker who thinks that wasd (as it presents itself in DA:I) is how all mmorpgs are played.

Ha!

Go and play WoW. Two mouse-button, mouse to cursor movement. It's how I Arena, so my left hand can use hotkeyed ability macros while the mouse takes care of movement-to-strafe.

/joke mode on

Or... well, I could go all elitist jerk on you.... the kind of player who wasds and clicks your ability bars [note the PLURAL, there, Mr Darrah!] in raids??? *gasp!!* Amateur. ;)

/joke mode off

It's also how I quest, some days, so I can feed my face/drink coffee while playing. My gaming time is valuable. I like to multitask.

Like i said before, even WASD isnt real movement, because both A and D are camera rotation by default, you are expect only to go forward/back, like those cheap chinese car toys. The fact that A and D are not default mapped to strafe left and right tell us a lot about how they expect the camera to work, and its not by mouse.

MMO style can be fun and satisfying. When i played Amalur on PC controls were very comfortable. When i played DA 1 & 2 i didnt even used hotkeys, i used to only use mouse to click on bar to activate spells/abilities. Its completely impossible now, because when you are actually mouse looking it dont work. Several times im walking and looking with mouse and a cursor appears on mid of screen and i think "why the hell i actually have cursor on screen when im using mouse to look?". Its impossible no one realized how confuse this is.

I know the must be some sort of "correct" way to play on KB+M, since there was a demo by producers using it. If so, they need to release a manual or tutorial on how to use KBAM controls, because you cant figure it by just trying.

So, in November DA:I came out, and I thought to myself: by now, Bioware has aligned itself with the EA doctrine and released a product so infested with bugs that it'll be unplayable. Why not wait and do a playthrough of DA:O and DA2 in preparation, to have a reminder of the story and world and also a gamesave to import that is consistent with my experience.

Then two days ago I installed DA:I, started a character, and found out that reading flags from a savegame overstrained Bioware programming skills and that I have to manually redo all decisions in a website using old characters that were created some years ago.

A ragequit, 24 hours to calm down and one visit to dragon keep later I started anew. I created a character,  saw him run up a hill slackjawed like a drunken hillbilly towards a glowy woman and than the game crashed.

Second try, game did not crash, but the framerate was extremely low (on a brand new Alienware 14 with GT880M) and the game looked like sh*t. Dialed down the graphics until both issues got a little better (honestly, I had to downgrade to graphics quality to make it look aesthetically better).

Then the first fight started. Holy sh*t. Coming fresh from DA2, controlling my character was akin to pushing a broken shopping cart full of rocks up a hill. While drunk.

Needing to move to an exact spot using WASD to pick up coins from a table. Constant clicking. Trying to use clickmove triggers an attack. The tactical camera is not only uselessly close, but is coupled with different character control.

And this is the state two month after release and after two patches. Wow. If this were contract work for a commercial customer, then a design scheme like this would cause the customer to deny approval and payment until the shortcomings are removed. But since we only have the informal contract of playing previous games and being lied to by the developer before release, I guess we'll have to live with that (read: shelf the game and go back to better ones).

Mods are a joke. Locking the thread and trying to be smart, then getting told off by big brother.

Joke dev team. Joke mod team. Anyone else at Biotrash got any funny jokes to tell? Bring them in the thread please. It's very entertaining.

Hello again

And I will keep posting on Twitter as they brag about the GOTY they bought from game reviewers. I refuse to be silent and I will not be ignored. People have the right to express their opinions. We live in a democracy after all and freedom of speech should be respected. I will keep on fighting the good fight until they acknowledge the game is junk. And I will never pay one cent for a freaking controller to join the idiotic masses.

Thank you all for listening to my rant.

Yes, let's not. Because we all know we don't want to get into "ethics in gaming journalism." ;)

Even if, on an actually serious note for a moment (as in jokes actually aside), forget indies; all of the "professional" gamestop/previs/marketing for AAA games (including this one), + GOTY for this game--really is about ethics in AAA marketing gaming journalism that should be raising more eyebrows than it is--as in: there aren't any.

10/10, my lily white... cough.

You need to understand the game is much better than previous versions because much more time was spent on displaying multi ethnical, multi sexuality and political correct statements than on PC controls, and we know that is all that matters, because games dont need to be enjoyable or even playable, we need another media to "educate" us.

Technically speaking, I would quite enjoy all the stated above in the game... If I could play it!  If it was not for bugs, console controls and almost everything 400+ pages of the thread are describing that makes gaming experience a torture, not a challenge.

Having just played the two previous titles back to back I would state that these controls are the worst of the three titles.

In DA:O, the design goal was clearly to improve on BG2s tactical battles. Tactical view is king in that game, to the extent that I had to remind myself to shift to regular third person, so I could enjoy the graphics better instead of directing four amorpheous blobs through yet another corridor.

In DA2, the design goal was to make the fights smoother and more action-y, and get more value out of the normal third person mode. That change might not have been for everybody, but it still controlled smoothly and competently.

In DA:I, the only design goals were optimizing the DA2 formula for console use, then push out a control scheme for pc just so half-arsed (and cheap) that it makes playing on the pc technically possible.

Yup, the Moderators will delete any post that they find somewhat controversial....How dare we talk about the very game that YOU've made.  Look at the choices that you've made...and we can't question those?  Is this a free world?  What is Bioweird?canada?

I just found this @dragonage twitter post in which Bioware posted an inforgraphic, showing how the game is most popular on current-gen consoles, XBOX ONE being at the front.

Ususally this would not bother me, but it feels like a deliberate mock towards the minority....the PC gamers, especially in light of what is going on here.

I would like to say "this was the last straw" but sadly I am past that point.

That graph shows gender of players characters by platform.  It never states which gets the most players...

Twice as many male inquisitors as female ones (and I imagine more men play female characters than vice versa). A mere 5% of all people identify as being gay (but likely more gamers). Yet:

Only 2 straight male romances, but 4 straight female romances and 4 gay romances for both genders. Lesbian women console players is Bioware's real "master race". Straight male PC gamers are on the way out!  To quote Bioware; "deal with it!" :P

The lack of romancable female characters for male PCs is largely due to the lack of female NPCs. They are caught in their own (sexist?) bind of wanting to cater to male players but also wanting mostly male companions. Only 3 of 8 romancable companions/advisors are female, so of course the number of available romance options will suffer.

I can appreciate your tenacity (despite disagreeing with your stance on the issue), but just to be safe I don't think this is the place or time to open this can of worms.
Can't risk another lockdown!  :)

(which is rich for me to say after my previous couple o'posts, I know  :P )

heh, I was somewhat bemused to see so many bisexual characters in a game I feared for my testosterone levels. 99% of the characters in the game seemed to be bi-sexual. Reminded me of College when I was a youth :)

Hey, this anomaly - ONLY AVAILABLE IN THIS GAME - is somehow supposed to be indicative of modern day society...it's catering to our players.  Yeeeeah.
