On the formatting bar the 2nd row of icons (B, I, U, S, etc...) there is a picture icon, when clicked it presents a dialog box to paste a url. Paste the url of the image and it'll appear.

Ah thank you so much didn't know that... Ah I'm not allowed to do that apparently. Guess because I'm a dirty french and PC peasant? thank you EAWARE

Indeed
And in my book, the additional "by PC players for PC players" was just a slap in the face.
This post was so good I'll ignore "SLAP IN THE FACE" (it was).

Anyway, we know their decision is the most correct; the keyboard and mouse, having more keys would only lead to much confusion, its hard to think on so many keys, we need simplification. If the game simplify things even further the better. I think DA4 will probably 4-5 keys, like "attack", "use potion" and "next scene".
This was a great read- because it's so reflective of game developer/designer's attitudes toward gamers, obvious in most of the modernized (AKA "consolized") games, in which we get dumb, stripped interfaces. I do however, feel the need to disagree on one point- which is IMO would likely be WSAD with the horrid QTE (QuickTimeEvents) sequences instead of a "next scene" and the other keys would be the menu (ESC) for save/reload/new game
(I know your sarcasm detector can read into this as an implied agreement)
Anyway you hit the nail on the head with the simplification... I don't ever remember ANY game company asking for my opinion when it came to interface design and me saying I prefered a stripped down interface with less to involve myself with. In fact I've steered clear of any that do- when possible.
For those who offer the empty argument of "but that's what gamers wanted" it's complete and utter BS. You just accepted it without lube- then they charged you for doing so and you begged for more. ("Shut up and take my money!")
I still don't understand why we can't have something simple as "hold tab to highlight". The search function in DA:I is annoying, even after the patch.
Because consoles.
Same reason you have to hold down a button to perform "auto" attack- consoles have no "toggle" equivalent.
Again, we come back to the "circular" because consoles argument. (for which I've heard no real "valid" counter from anyone, troll or not)
How cool would it be for Mark Darrah to swoop in and comment on the above situation?
Personally, I do not understand, as Executive Producer, in what world can you approve a pc scheme that is so obviously a step back in design for such a major project (and resume entry) as Dragon Age 3.
Was it for the paycheck? Maybe they have perfected a mind control device at EA. I just can't see any logic here.
I just want to know whats in this patch or if the tactical camera will ever have the option to not be stuck on the ground mesh and if it will have a proper tilt control or not.
I've said it 20 times now but I'll say it again, I had to stop playing this game because of how poorly the tactical camera functions. Level 11 single player character sitting there waiting to enjoy the game since november.

Is that monstrosity real? lol
Yep you could get them for the N64

whats in the patch won't change the fact a Controller will forever be the best option to play the game with. They can't undo that because its predefined from the birth of the game.

I dont know your age or background, but i will just add 2 cents about how bad it reached sometime, long, but not so long ago.
In 90', i used to have a Sega CD. It was like "woa a full cd of content".. and games was striving to use all the data for something meanful.
So a series of games appeared that were just films, yea, movies, and you just needed to hit keys as they appeared on screen, like guitar hero.
There was a game of Power Rangers, and a Jet Fighter game called tomcat alley.

Tomcat Alley is something i remember these days. Visual it was impressive, much like any AAA title today, but the game play was awful. You just needed to lock icons on screen and it press button. You dont control movement, or anything, just lock icons and shoot.

The powerrangers game on SegaCD is one of the most aweful games that exist to date, if you even consider it a game. It also could be visually stunning (for the age), but there is no game at all, just an animated movie.
Just check 1:30 forward if you are in a hurry.
This game is incredible because you have button icons to click, to looks like you are doing something, while you are doing nothing at all just advancing a movie.
Wikipedia nails it
The game play is similar to that of the arcade game Dragon's Lair, as players have press certain buttons at precise moments throughout the game as they appear on screen. Giving the illusion that the player is controlling the Power Rangers. If the player misses or presses out at random, the game will make a buzz sound. The screen will shake and his or her health meter will drop. However there are points in the game where players can press a button unprompted for extra points. At the end of each level, the player's progress is tallied. At which the points earned will be used to refill his or her health meter and can even score an extra life. Footage use was episodes from the television series. This footage was heavily cut down for disc space and level length. As a result the five-part Green With Evil serial was turned into four small segments.
I dont know if the industry can fall this low, but if history repeats it self, we will surely see something similar.
Hell, i suspect i saw something like this last year. A visually stunning action game called "Ryse son of Rome".
I hope patch3 adds the ability to place markers with labels on the map ![]()
Btw I would like to think they have a real interest in improving the user interface since this is likely the engine for their games going forward. Having played a lot more I sitll find the new combat mundane and boring; the rpg aspect of the game are not so bad; the tactical view useless (not just because of camera angle but also because of how combat works but it is hard to articulate); way too many crashes (I have an amd 7950 if that is the reason - with latest drivers) and weird load times (sometime it will take a while to load but no disk i/o - so I think it is the drm but not sure how to tell). The game really seems closer to an arpg with good story telling than an rpg mostly due to how combat works. It is not an awful game (but pc interface is very weak) but if they could have had a decent combat it could have been a lot better. combat is not everything but in this game there is a huge amount of it so it needs to be good.

Also I cannot figure out why some level 17-20 mobs are easy but dragons are near impossible. I don't mind that they are hard (i guess) but their levels are just broken given their increase difficulty - i.e, level of the mob shoudl reflect their power/difficulty - shouldn't it ? If so something is broken here.
-
Anyway it is what it is - patch 3 might help - I hope they improve the interface add map markers with labels and fix some of the crashes as well as other bugs.
just to keep thinks on track here:
I want one thing and one thing only from the next patch - the ability to click-to-whatever
click to move - I click on the terrain and my toon walks there
click to interact - I click on a door or loot and my toon walks there and opens it/picks it up
click to attack - I click on an enemy and my toon shoots an arrow/casts a spell/walks up and bops it on the head with a sword/etc
I am playing on a PC, which means I have a mouse and mice have cursors and click on things. Not being able to click on things in unacceptable and must be added into the game to be playable on a PC. No excuses. The end.

It'll never happen ... simple lowest common denominator programming. PC was the last UI worked on ... makes complete sense as it represented 20% of the target platforms.
I tend to agree with you Brogan, but for me, at this point, I'd rather look forward and not dwell on what's happened. Yeah I'm ticked at these guys (Darrah and Laidlaw), but I want to know how they are going to make this better.
I'd like to mention the fact that while using kb+m some controls aren't 'visible'. I used and Ocularium and a window appreared telling to press a certain key but the key was named as a variable, same for bottles and mosaic pieces and elven artifacts. What key I'm I supposed to press?
Is that the one that used to be 'press alt to access help on this' but is now contextalt or similar after the 'patch'.

What I can't quite figure out is the purpose of these dragons in this game.

they are your basic achievement hurdle filler mob you couldn't kill on level so it irks you enough to go back later on. Or you can simply refuse to kill them, as Geralt Of Rivia says, " You know i never kill dragons"
