which is just great for the pc player that have problems, 2 whole weeks with no updates

I am hoping they are putting in some OT to get this right so we can enjoy it over break.
fingers/toes crossed.
That's because they make their money from console players. I bought DA2 on launch day and walked into Best Buy after work, not knowing if they would have any left. The guy kind of laughed and said that there were a lot of PC copies available but they were almost out of console versions.
The trend is set since a couple of years.Too bad because the console will never ever reach the performance and versatility of a PC. If you want a technological schowcase it can only be on PC. I started playing games with the NES and the first Mario. As I moved to the PC in the end of the nineties, I was like Alice in Wonderland and since then never looked back. But well most gamers seem to play on console...
The thing that really scares me is that they let the game out even if riddled with terrible, sometimes game-breaking bugs. They don't even bother now as long as the console version works correctly. And that's something new and very specific to the next-gen games.
I was looking forward into finally playing this game, my specs are decent so didn't worry about that too much. But what I didn't expect was not being able to actually play the game because of the low framerate or crashes. I somewhat fix that frame rate for myself, not super but playable, and played the game for a while. That is until it started to crash, first in cut-scenes, later they occurred randomly out of the scenes (certain houses, fireplaces, roads), and now it crashes while my save loads. Origin says I played 11 hours of the game, I actually played 2 hours if you take out all of those failed attempts. I made it out of the tutorial level and done a little bit of Hinterlands, but then I came to the war table and now my game just gives up loading.
The whole pc UI/control thing doesn't bother me as much as the fact that I can't play this game. I understand a bug here and there but this? In what state was this game a month ago, when it actually had to be released? I am disappointed, my excitement wants me to play but at the moment I cannot and I only waste time into tricking the game to work, while it clearly doesn't want to. I just have to wait until a patch or the drivers get out of beta, see if works then.
Ok, so I have another issue. I have my game set to casual mode. In what world is this casual mode? It's at LEAST normal, if not hard. I was killed 4 times facing down a rift that was supposed to be right around my level, with all my companions and I tooled up pretty well. This is insane. Has anyone looked inside the code yet to see if it's actually set to casual? I wanted to have fun with this game, it should not be a bloody job just to close a rift.

Where was the rift? I've been avoiding most of the rifts in the Hinterlands because they're too high a level. One good thing about tac cam is you can hit T, scroll to one of the demons and check his level before they notice you.

also its vulnerabilities and immunities
I think part of why this game release bothers me so much is that I feel that there were a lot of promises about this game, that as a PC gamer, were complete and utter lies! This looks like a crappy console port , screwy controls and all. I already regret pre-ordering this game though I am hoping a patch makes it playable just so it's not a total waste of money I own every Bioware game ever made for PC and for the most part I could rely on them to make the types of games I love. That is clearly in the past and I need to look to another company (indie seems to be the way to go lately) to get the games I enjoy. All the larger companies are focusing on console and console type games and as this game indicates, ignoring PC gamers as unimportant. It is very difficult to find good RPG games with the rich storytelling that Bioware use to do so well. I am just disappointed in the trend of gaming lately and this feels like a nail in the coffin of the Bioware that was. For those people who love this game, great! I'm sure there is a lot of good things about this game, but this isn't the game I was expecting at all.
Yeah if this was a console only game and I had bought it on the PS4 I would probably not be on the forums talking about the PC issues, but rather enjoying the game for what it is, a console action RPG meant to be played on a couch. Not a CRPG throw back to DAO and the Bioware RPGs that came before it.
if you want to play good pc rpg game play Diviniy Original Sin, its like what if there was a Dragon Age Origins 2
its fun, plays like an actual CRPG
Divinity OS all the way. Great game. True turn based combat, love it.

Canada has Thanksgiving we just celebrate it on a different day. We had it on 13 Oct.
Tweet:
@dragonage Well so much for problem solving. Seems like "good enough" may have been the mantra over at @dragonage hq.
Response:
@serge619 Sorry if we gave that impression, Napoleon, certainly not our intent. Allow us to explain a bit further.
then no explaination or further tweet, its like "wave hand in front of face" then MAGIC
COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGY 101:
Does Canada have Thanksgiving and if they do is it at the same time?
the second Monday in October
Canada has Thanksgiving we just celebrate it on a different day. We had it on 13 Oct.
So I would think less likely to cause a delay in a patch

I doubt this. They already acknowledged the camera-snapping bug on pc and they made this thread. It would be very bad for them to release the game before everyone goes on vacation knowing it has mediocre designs on PC.
..and I mean come on. Any pc gamer or anybody who played origins on the PC could see these design problems with the tactical camera from a mile away. I'm sure they were very aware of the backlash they were about to receive from the pc community.
Anyone can see that the tactical camera doesn't zoom out far enough, especially on a 20-28 inch monitor, and anyone can see that it feels limited and restricted when you can't even look up with the tactical camera when you zoom out with it. The design of this thing is absolutely ridiculously bad. I can't imagine they were actually ignorant enough to not expect this level of backlash, especially from the people who played and enjoyed origins.
It would be a real slap in the face if they all went on vacation before fixing their own crappy work.

you would think but some one obvious beat the development team with a stupid stick and the forget everything since DAO

They probably aren't even aware that dragon age origin exists lmao. This entire system regarding combat and u.i layout is a complete downgrade compared to it in almost every aspect.
I purchased Inquisition "Deluxe Edition". After loading the game and clicking the "start game" button, all I get is an error message telling me "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)." Has anyone else seen or experienced this?
36 pages =/= representative of the actual complains. TacView, controls and UI are the only proper complaints bar a few bugs which whilst annoying, should be expected with a game of this scope.
A good manager, regardless of department, knows both sides of the field. On the one side there is the consumer which is incredibly important but on the other side is the company which is also important. I've been lucky enough to know what goes on behind closed doors and hence I can bring empathy for both sides.
The fact is that gamers are a bunch of spoiled shits. I know I am and I know by this thread that others are too. People are calling this game barely playable or unplayable. Seriously? Oh its not the control schematics we like or the UI we prefer, THIS GAME IS NOW COMPLETELY RUINED AND HORRIBLE! Get a ****** life people! And now, this debacle will not immediately lower stockprices since investors damn well know that IGN/GameSpot/Kotaku/etc are more reputable sources of info than a bunch of people on forums. So yes, seriously.
I like how you completely ignore the complaints about technical issues that literally do make the game unplayable for many players. I guess that makes it easier for you to look down your nose at those of us who're upset that we were lied to. I don't see how you can be making excuses for a company that misled the entire PC gaming community. I don't care who you've worked for, that is not acceptable under any circumstances.
Another thing: Minor bugs/glitches here and there are fine. However, CTD/Blackscreen errors ARE NOT acceptable in a game of any scope. The gaming community should not "expect" errors of that magnitude in a game that has been released. Beta? Sure. But not a game that the company has branded finished by releasing it. Do you seriously believe what you type? Or are you just being the devil's advocate?
After I watched this video last month it got me excited for the game on PC....too bad there's no truth to it, just an advertisement to sucker people in to buying the PC version. Wonder if they're paid actors?
1:40 "...we finally hit 'A', it went smooth as silk..."
I rest my case... console game.
How could any of them not have been annoyed by the fact that the tactical camera doesn't allow you to look UP at all when you zoom out with it? I find this to be absolutely astounding if true. That and the fact that it doesn't zoom out far enough. Two very simple things that you can determine sucks only within 10 minutes of gameplay.
If they really weren't aware of these two simple issues with the tactical cam then my god, bioware is a lost cause. How can two flaws so basic in design not have been experience by any of the developers? None of them found it extremely annoying? I just find that hard to believe. Why didn't any of them take inspiration from dragon age origins design either? They had the perfect design to use and improve upon but instead gave us something gimped and downgraded.
It just doesn't add up. The only logical conclusion anyone can draw from this is that inadequate amateur developers were behind this. I suggest bioware hire more experienced developers next time, or fire the ones that never got fired from that dragon age 2 disaster. The thing is, there isn't going to be a "next time" for me, if these problems don't get fixed.
Ever tried to use the tac cam INSIDE of a structure that has a ceiling?
Ever tried to use the tac cam INSIDE of a structure that has a ceiling?
I was using it in the tunnels in that oasis area. My god, it was a disaster. Why on earth didn't they let the camera no-clip through objects/terrain like this? All they would have had to do is implement a texture-fade when the camera zooms out past a certain point so that you can look down at your characters while the ceiling would be invisible wherever the camera was facing (kind of hard to explain but you get my point).
It's been done in games before. The textures fade away when you zoom out and the camera no-clips through it and you can actually see what the F is going on. It's such basic game design for this style of gameplay.
Given that until DAI, I have always bought fully patched, "older" and less expensive games (6 months - 1 year after they come out) how much do you think this revenue makes up for the loss and back lash now? I've never paid full price for a game like this before, and I suspect quite a few people out there can't afford to, or are unwilling to either. These people are/may be unaware there were ever significant problems to begin with.
I do not think the loss in Bioware Division sales of PC games will matter much, honestly. It is one division or SBU in a consolidated balance sheet of several EA properties. That is not where I would be identifying the potential crisis public, though I would be sensitive to it because I know the spill over effect. We would be a secondary public for EA - though a primary public for Bioware to address. [The talks inside the EA boardroom will be different than the war council at Bioware.]
NO, I would be looking at share price. A big stink like this would do much to shake investor confidence. Now if PC sales supported the stink, then yes, EA will make the call to Bioware. I do not think this phone call has happened yet. I base my intuition on the last week's weekly stock tick and the fact Bioware has a staggered product roll out. So tomorrow the global numbers will report in the weekly business meeting (and the monthly corporate meeting).
So imagine yourself as the EA executive holding EA stock and you see it dive. Imagine you're the investor reading - not Gamestop or 4chan but - WSJ or Forbes. And here is a story about angry computer users.... sold a game they cannot play and ignored. And they're pissed. This anecdotally large and vocal group claim to be returning product, erasing sales and most certainly damaging projections over the most lucrative reporting period. You think EA will have the exact numbers? Bioware will through their Origins site but will not know the exact damage from returns to places like Amazon.
The phones start going. Stock starts moving. People react. It's like a run on a bank.
So, no the notion of sales alone being a beacon of respect to PC gamers is not on my mind too much. Sure it is there. I am thinking about all those phones ringing on important desks.
Well, thats probably because the game they released is the one they wanted to release. They knew full well about the UI/controls (maybe not some of the video issues) on the PC... thats just it; they want you to buy a console; get the hint?
This first part is, without a doubt, true in my mind. Bioware would not have been unaware the PC version of this console game would need the level of work it does to fix - if it can be fixed. Several posters above, some who claim to be in the industry/IT, have indicated the level of complexity to make a fix. It could be like disassembling the game and rebuilding it line by line, looking for the loose screw or the [period] within the haystack.
The PR cynic in me thinks there will not be any response until after the PC sales figures report. If they are lower than expected by much, a fix may be requisitioned and an adhoc team created for the task. A meh response = equals good enough PC sales according to target. i.e. No fix.
Now, here is the thing. It was unacceptable to someone - EA director probably - that a good portion of the holiday sales of DA3 should be delayed beyond American Thanksgiving. That line of thinking suggests that PC sales are important to be achieved.
EA wanted Bioware to release the PC game and they did with what they had, a broken game. Someone's head should roll. EA will make that call not a sales manager. I will be watching for that come Christmas as PC sales figures report for November and first part December..
Will Console sales be enough...?
After I watched this video last month it got me excited for the game on PC....too bad there's no truth to it, just an advertisement to sucker people in to buying the PC version. Wonder if they're paid actors?
Has anyone thought about using their spare DA3 playtime, since it is not being used, to create a viral meme video using Dragon Age Inquisition promotional video clips? I am sure it would go viral. It has all the elements if it is handled with humour.
There is plenty of competition in the video game market and Bioware is trying to horn in on Consoles…. I am sure this would get some support. It would play on screens at all the game developers in the world. Might be good for the health of the industry.... Check this out from only one video:
Mike Laidlaw
We built it on PC at the beginning of time back when we were working on Origins.
….kinda kept that legacy…. [winning word: kinda]
….keeping a lot of the surprises under wraps but how they all fit together and how the story plays out I think is going to surprise some folks. [especially the gaffaws from the PC customers]
Aaryn Flynn
[I’ve been gaming on PC for at least 30 years] NOTE: No mouse, then, in front of the Radio Shack Tandy or now (at Bioware).
Elizabeth Lehtonen
Things weren’t quite right…. We hit “A” and it just went smooth as silk
To see the smiles and laughs and tears around me as people were playing through, yeah it’s a great feeling
I mean this could be funny as hell. Out of context? Possibly. Some of it. But it is just supposed to be sardonic, witty and cause a laugh.
QUICK BEFORE THE VIDEOS ARE TAKEN DOWN!
Having bought this game, waited nearly a week to find out when I can actualy potentially start to play it and enjoy it, I am starting to get incredibly frustrated at the silence. I don't think Bioware need to be watching feedback and taking notes about a patch that may nor may not ever live up to expectiation. I think think they need to be actively engaging the PC community and discussing what can be done and what won't be done an for what reasons. In the long run it will be a lot more productive, some people will be disapointed and some people will get what they want perhaps. It would be nice to have something constructive going on here besides some BS silent observation while everyone celebrates another successful console release in the foreground.
100% You get it better than Bioware's PR department (which reports to marketing). I have heard it said that this is Bioware's big gamble. It has put everything onto this spin of the wheel trying to cover red and black and odd and even bets.
MARKETING 101:
Stand for something to someone, or become nothing to everyone. Do not bet on every number on the roulette wheel.
The Game of the Year game build was the odds on favourite to win. This franchise has diverged far from that winning build.
And here we are.
As much as i dont want to be one of those cynical guys.......so much for we are pc players at heart.....when you consider the chart they made showed more people would aquire this game on pc, this is really a punch in the stomach.....Dragon age was the only thing keeping me as a EA customer.....well sad to see you go but this is goodbye.
This is my intuition. Every console gamer I have ever bumped into owns a PC game for his PC. Is the same true for console games? Does everyone own a console?
I am old enough to remember Beta Max. Google it.
Seriously, I don't get why people are still pre-ordering after all what happened with ME3, DA2 (that's the BW part) and more recently with almost all the so-called AAA "next gen" games (Watch Dogs, Assassins Creed. CODAW only to mention the most obvious ones...).
Why is it always the same story: "Waaaa the PR- Department did a good job, game is crap, misleading advertisement, overhyped, blablabla, I shouldn't have pre-ordered it. Never buy a game of this company again. Fix it Fix it Fix it Fix it Fixit Fix it Fix it Fixit Fix it Fix it Fix it Fix it Fix it Fix it Fix it Fix it Fix it Fix it Fix it. NOW"
Why don't wait a couple of weeks, read what other users said about the game, see if the aforementioned problems are to be solved or not and then decide to buy it or not?
Gaming is a business, don't expect the companies to tell you "Well you know, we've tried our best but there still are a **** ton of bugs, the story is not that original, the combat is somewhat clunky". If you still believe them then you know the old saying, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...
I think a great many people have NOT pre-ordered this game because of their experience pre-ordering DA2.
I think this will affect comparison launch sales between DA2 and DA3. DA2 PC sales I believe will be higher than DA3. This could be the reason for launching all platforms simultaneously: to consolidate the (hide PC) launch sales figures. I do not think DA2 had a money back guarantee, as does DA3. So if you want to send a message, return the game. It will hurt but only on this comparison.
Investors will be interested in continued growth and they will read the figures not the hype of PC Gamer Magazine. To an investor, DA2 was a win. Sales rocketed from DA:Origins success. DA2 is the bar. Investors expect DA3 to cross that bar. I suspect the sales figures will be consolidated rather than itemized.
