Hey Everyone, notes for the upcoming Patch 3 on PC are now available here.

We're continuing to work on making your DA:I experience better, and we will provide more updates in the future when we can.

I can't confirm a release date just yet, but will update when I can.

I'm relieved about the companion missions and the key glitch.

I assume the console patch will be substantially similar? Obviously there are a few PC-specific issues being addressed (which makes perfect sense) but I'm guessing that the patch for console will cover mostly the same things.

For the people who think the game is beyond redemption and fundamentally a PoS...why are you still here? I get the frustration, but what's the point in beating a dead horse.

Because they sold me a Cadillac with square wheels and a gas tank full of molasses...

Here you go BW fanboys, feast your eyes on what must be two months now of solid hard work by your favourite dev team in the yooniverse:

From a development standpoint, Patch 3 was a small, bug-fix only patch to address some high-frequency issues affecting the majority of our players.

Two months for a 'small' bug fix. Remember the original thread talking about 3 large patches that are being rolled out? Yeah, about that...

General

Added key binding that allows players to walk.

Cool.

Added mouse cursor scaling.

Uh, okay. For people with 4k resolution I guess?

Fixed issue that could result in the mouse getting stuck in mouse-look mode when players alt-tabbed out of the game in full-screen mode.

Cool, I guess. Was this documented? Never got this.

Fixed display bars to correctly reflect items that alter maximum health.

Happened to me all the time. Annoying

Single-Player

Changed party banter system to be less random to prevent extra-long periods where no conversations would occur.

So the original 'fix' you made didn't actually fix it, and now you're fixing it. k.

Fixed issue that could result in one of Dorian’s conversations not being available for some players.

Amazing.

Fixed issue that could result in a cutscene not firing for Dorian’s plot when players enter the Gull and Lantern.

Amazing.

Fixed issue that could result in Sera’s Verchiel plot being broken.

Amazing.

Fixed issue with the demon that could spawn during Solas’s personal quest.

Amazing.

Changed Tactical Camera so that it no longer re-centers when the player changes party members.

Who seriously used this. Next patch I'd rather see 'tac cam deleted'

Fixed exploit that allowed for infinite influence.

Why? There are not infinite perks, so why remove infinite influence?

Fixed issue that allowed players to exploit their gold value in single-player mode.

Cos yknow all them awesome vendors and all that expensive gear in this game right?

Fixed allied mage AI so they did not dispel targets that the player had frozen.

Don't care. Make it so the dumb AI mages don't barrier the floor instead of the person they were set to 'defend'

Fixed issue that caused the bar displaying armor rating to not update correctly for crafted gear.

No one cares.

Fixed issue that caused extra potions granted by items to be lost when players return to Skyhold.

No one cares.

Fixed issue that caused Mind Blast’s upgrade, Fortifying Blast, to not provide additional barrier.

No one cares, everyone is too busy spamming spirit blade.

Fixed issue that could result in the opt-in conversation UI continuing to be displayed if players opted out very quickly as the UI was starting to be displayed.

Ok.

Fixed issue that could result in the world map being permanently displayed in the Storm Coast.

Cool.

Fixed issue that could result in being unable to switch party members after looting.

Yeah I had this before. It resets if you go into menu.

Fixed issue that could result in party members not following orders to revive a party member in Tactical Camera mode.

Good.

Fixed issue that could result in people being unable to discover all the regions in the Exalted Plains.

Boring and dull zone. Anyone would be forgiven NOT to want to discover all of the regions.

Fixed issue that could cause dragons to become unresponsive.

Good, makes the dull late game dragon fights even duller.

Fixed issue that would cause dragons to freeze during their roar.

You could have added this to the previous point. I guess you were trying to make the list appear long.

Fixed issue that could cause some conversations to be “hitchy.”

Cool.

Fixed issue that could cause Varric’s legs to do odd things in some opt-in conversations.

Ok.

Fixed Masterwork Prowler Armor so it no longer distorts on certain characters.

Ok.

Fixed issue that could cause Harmon to disappear in certain circumstances.

Who.

Fixed a few non-herb crafting materials that were showing up in the Herbs section of the inventory. They are now correctly in the Other section.

God forbid you rework the 'other' and 'valuables' section entirely.

Multiplayer

A buncha crap none of you should care about.

Alright guys, so let's tally up shall we!

I count 28 items that have been patched (Cos, yknow, all the BW fanboys appear to tell me a completely different team work on the MP so we won't count those resources). 25 of those items are bug fixes, 4 of which you could consider major in that they restrict gameplay in some shape or form, the remaining 21 are bug fixes for things that should do something but actually didn't (Nice QA m8s), the majority of which I have not seen in my games, but also have not seen documented on the various threads around here. 3 of those items are functional of quality of gameplay improvements. No content. Nothing much really 'added'. Mostly stuff taken away. So by that count I hereby applaud Biotrash for including 7 out of 28 items that have been patched that one might deign as 'useful'.

Oh btw, I would drop the line about how you engaged with the users and stuff, because, well... you haven't.

Just informed the people on AE HQ Technical Support. It did not take long for someone to open a new post. Everyone needs good news.

I will keep playing and enjoying myself until patch 25 if I have to. I happen to have a love hate relationship with this game, but I am having fun.

to be honest, i enjoyed the game once without patch 3, so no problem for me. just hoped for a little bit more to shut down at least a few of the whiners and especially help for people with really gamebreaking bugs

The official update is definitely appreciated but I'm guessing by the contents of Patch 3 that Bioware hasn't figured out the DirectX crashes, and the absolutely aggravating audio glitches?   It's not very compelling.

Trust me, I am well aware of that and have followed pretty closely what those key issues are. I unfortunately can't talk about what's in the pipeline just yet, but will provide a future update as soon as I can.

Conal, do you have any idea why Patch 3 became fixes instead of PC improvements?  Scylla Costa stated on the blog that the next priority after Patch 2 was PC controls.  That's the only official word we had, so what the patch has delivered is a little... confusing.  Considering that the blog, support forums, and twitter has directed folks to this thread for updates, and we have not received any updates but the blog, communication has not been clear.

Obviously we're going to have to wait until Patch 4 for PC control adjustments.  Accepting that would be a lot easier if more was shared about the thought processes, what happened, and what may be coming.  I realize your hands may be too tied to answer any of those, but nothing ventured...

K im done with all this crap. Hopefully somewhere down the line i might hear that this franchise died, but im am done with this. Now to see few months after next mass effect comes if it is fallen into the same fate as well.

This game is 3 games cobbled together in a unholy union. The f2p mobile game the wartable, the shitty mmo which they had planned which is all the MMO designed grinding maps and the fetch quests even for romance and specializations and a crappy last minute story aka the main quest with some companion quests.

Honestly, it's hard to disagree.

In all the time I have been here, reading pc players reactions, reviews, I have only ever seen one pc user who stated they actually used the Tac Cam and had little issue with it (Sylvius the Mad).  And his described playstyle could definitely be labeled unique, which is fine as that's what m&kb control scheme's should be all about, but he was surely in the minority when it came to Tac Cam.

And as I stated many times, and well before the game was released, the Tac Cam for PC is redundant, and should have been a console only feature.  But instead, now everyone is forced to wait and see how Bio is able to "fix it...

Okay, so after around 100 hours of play, here are my grievances:

COMPANION FREAKING AI: Please. My companions are less intelligent than ever before. They walk into ground AoE (like burning ground after a fireball) and then stand in it.

They refuse to follow orders, especially Hold Position and either run to or teleport to my inquisitor when I get too far away. This becomes a problem when I want to do stealthy things to weaken the enemy before engaging, and then my entire party warps into the center of a group of enemies.

Mages do not move out of melee range. I cannot imagine why the Behaviors function from DA: O and DA2 was removed. I don't want to micromanage my mages' movement and manually have them run away from attacking melee enemies. When they get into melee, they should Barrier themselves, CC the enemy and run away.

Against dragons, companions lose a few more IQ. Ranged party members will stand next to dragon legs, or stand in ground AoE, or refuse to move out of the way of breath. Melee companions run circles around the dragon, trying to hit the same limb instead of targeting the nearest one. This makes it very difficult to use anything but an all-ranged party against dragons.

INVISIBLE WALLS AND BAD PLATFORMING: Why did you give us the ability to jump around an open world if our character can't scale shallow slopes without sliding backwards as if they're boots are covered in grease? Why would you put invisible walls to block shortcuts? What was the point of an open world and platforming sections if our movement controls are awful? There was a section in the Hinterlands nearby the dragon where you needed to jump up a series of ledges to get a Shard and it was far more frustrating than it needed to be. I slammed into ledges, wishing that my Inquis could just use his hands and haul himself up, rather than try and get a specific jumping angle to hop up.

LACK OF CONTINUITY FROM PREVIOUS GAMES: I do not care about Hawke. I wanted to see my Warden. As it stands, the only way to get the Warden to interact with you is a paragraph in the war room if you romanced Morrigan in DA: O. I was crossing my fingers and hoping to see them, or hear mention of them. Characters from DA: O seem hardly familiar with each other; there was scarce banter between Morrigan/Alistair/Leliana.

ABYSMAL PC CONTROLS: It's gotten better over the months, but I still cannot re-bind my mouse keys. My mouse has 7 buttons, and is designed for MMO setups. Since DA: I is trying so hard to be MMO-style, why not let me bind my extra mouse keys? Do you have a controller shoved up your rears so far that you can't program in decent KB+M controls?

Wait, when you say "queue up commands" you mean giving 1 command per character, right? I mean, is there a way to tell a character "go here, then do this, then do that" in Tact Cam?
