Glad to hear something from Bioware (thanks, Conal!) but pretty disappointed in these patch notes. Minimal fixes to the issues brought up in this thread. Most notably, the tac cam is still of limited use–though the removal of centering on selected party member is great.

When patch 2 was released, Bioware said they were laying the ground work for substantial fixing of PC controls. Now we get patch 3 which includes a walk toggle and a fix to the tac cam recentering "feature" but no major control changes. Those improvements are great, but not the big change Bioware hinted at or what would be expected after nearly two months time (granted, there were holidays).

To soon for the major work....the PC control changes do take longer to "work in" the game... I am not surprised at this revelation.

If you read between the lines, BIO is working behind the curtain to fix the "important" things.

From what I understand, it's SOP in the industry to move most of a game's development staff on to another project after launch and keep only a core group for patches/DLC.

It is, yes, because its no longer in a production phase. Takes far more people to make a game then maintain it obviously. Plus a good portion ( especially in pure production areas such as art ) are also short and long term contractors that were only hired for the one project. Working on DA:I from this point on is going to be largely technical. So production teams are going to either be let go on the end of their contracts or shifted to other projects.

So the reason why we dont get patches in time is that DA Developers are working on ME4??

Can you please FIX YOUR GAME YOU SOLD FIRST, before you make new games??

Jumping ship to the next half assed game EA are going to abuse for profit no doubt.

Or it would if the last 330 pages weren't the same general crowd of people screaming at each other and Bioware ad nasuem.

Yeah, go here http://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/

Everyone is happy and having fun (im not being sarcastic its true!), and posts like "What you think must be the new DLC" and such...

Yeah, you know, its reddit, so.. what could you expect... but some things makes me unconfortable, like post "should i upgrade?"

Replies found:

- "Yes, definitely. It's worth every dollar."

- "If you can afford it and will play the game again, yes. (a hundred times yes!)"

- "Seconding. The game on next-gen graphics is BEAUTIFUL and a huge improvement over last-gen editions."

I know taste is a personal matter... but come on... Anyway, this is the current state of Inquisition customers. We are a vocal minority, but just that.

It looks like the majority is very dandy and happy about this mastersh!t masterpiece.

Game is praised, both from Critics and customers. I cant really find a reason EA will do anything to fix something they clearly are not seeing as flawed or broken.

True and I'd much rather see them take their time refining the controls and adding options so players to fine tune them, rather than rush a bunch of changes out the door that do not address the problem or make it worse.

Just informed the people on AE HQ Technical Support. It did not take long for someone to open a new post. Everyone needs good news.

I will keep playing and enjoying myself until patch 25 if I have to. I happen to have a love hate relationship with this game, but I am having fun.

Love hate relationship? Yeah... maybe that's what I have. it's been one week since I fired up the game... I'm still in Wicked Eyes.

There's something about this game that make me melancholy? I lost my initial gusto for it.

Except it wasn't, and there were new posters adding in their complaints (and in general echoing the existing complaints) practically every day since November.

The official update is definitely appreciated but I'm guessing by the contents of Patch 3 that Bioware hasn't figured out the DirectX crashes, and the absolutely aggravating audio glitches?   It's not very compelling.

Two audio glitches that I have experienced.

1. Dialogue cuts off abruptly. An easy fix but will take time to do.

2. Party banter is triggered just as I am about to fight a mob.... and continues during combat.

Yeh but now characters have PlasticHair, a unique feature only supported on the most modern graphics!

maxresdefault.jpg

I think a real next generation graphics would be like this (expect PC is quintessential generation akin to time)

Crysis-3-Ross-Kemp-lookal-008.jpg

Everything Inquisition aims (or marketed) to be the best fails, being mediocre on average, but is horrible in some aspects:

- Best graphics - sometimes it could look like DX8

- Best content - just fetch quests

- Best action and satisfactory play - action playing is bad, any MMO does better

- Tactical play - no words

- Bioware quality story level - Just like someone took a script of a B movie and put on a game.

Someone remember Two Worlds? A game that said on own box to be Oblivion on steroids? I dont know why, but Inquisition remember a lot Two Worlds, its immense size full of meaningful content.

The thing that annoys me about tac cam is that enemy information like resistances and stuff is only available on tac cam. I hate the tac cam is beyond useless.

Not really... I only use it to figure out my enemies stats/weakness/resistances.

The audio issue I'm speaking of on top of what you've listed is the abrupt audio hitching while in combat especially during closing of rifts. I don't think I've heard the rift closing yet. All I get on my end is a muffled pop as the rift closes. The audio issue is present in normal fights as well but not always.  It's very intermittent.

Well, patch 3 sounds like a disappointment. Conal does keep the door open hinting that there might be more to it (why he/she cant just say more I don't know, it's not like he works for the NSA or something - they are video games for crying out loud!) but I have learnt now with BW to expect the worse.

If patch 3 isn't addressing pc controls I'm giving up waiting to play my launch day investment. This game reeks of watered down console priorities. Commercialism - you foul swine - you win again!

Well, EA/Bioware/Origin/Skynet, you owe me money for selling me a broken PC game.

I want a refund, and you can have your malodourous console spawn back. Who do I contact?  If this cannot be arranged I'll get even by torrenting your next RPG - IF it's good that is. No worries there. right? But the decision is in your hands.

Please PM for refund details.

PS: Pillars of Eternity and Torment: Tides of Numenera - please show these impostors what high quality standards this gaming genre is capable of!

Pretty disappointing list of fixes...and we will see just how half-arsed that walk toggle is going to be (but of course, I hope I am wrong).

And what about the BUG that has the Inquisitor parading in his/her small clothes in Skyhold? Yes, apparently, this is a BUG that some modders managed to fix by changing a 1 to a 0 or the other way around, using A THIRD PARTY TOOL! Point being, one of the most glaring and easy to fix bugs didn't even make it into patch 3.

Seems to me as soon as games are released, everyone's brains drop out their poopers over at Bioware.

Wow, you guys take absolutely no pride in your work any more.

Next gen is just a catch phrase for consoles have caught up to PC's from 2 years or so ago.....

If it was truly next gen then it would look like those digital trailers we all love....... ^_^ ....but then the consoles couldn't run it.

Welcome to EA.

They have reallocated their teams to next projects.  The skeleton crew left behind to do "maintenance" on DA:I are nowhere near as capable to deliver content as the full strength team prior to the holidays.  There is a FINITE amount of time/money that EA has already allocated to maintenance.  Once that's gone even the skeleton crew will move onto "current" games.

Now ... IMO, a saving grace might be DLC.  Depending on how long EA plans/needs to milk DA:I for micro-transactions will dictate the size of the maintenance budget.  If they believe there's profit opportunity out there for DLC and it's dependent on patching, we might get lucky with more patch content.

We shouldn't, however, be surprised to see the programming talent get reallocated within EA.

PS - i read that link.  SO glad it didn't say anything about "going back to their roots" or "a PC game brought to you by PC gamers"!!

Ask yourself, would you buy the dlc/dlcs after seeing whats not been done so far, i know i certainly wouldn't, and you can bet for **** sure ME4 will suffer the very same thing we are seeing here. History is suppose to teach the future what not too do,ME3>DAI-ME4, $$ = a win however you sell the lie.

Me???  Let me think about that for a minute or two .... not a chance in Hades!!  Next BooWare purchase will come from a bargain bin.  It will be a "cold day" before I spend premium dollars on a BooWare product ever again.

I already swore off ME starting with ME3.  I skipped DA2, but got sucked into the hype on DA:I.  Wifey was all proud of herself for getting it for me for Christmas.

Bethgael, would you like to be an admin/mod of the new group Sylveria created?  'Pc players' (not a place for flame wars)

We need the Light of the Australian Unicorn with us, come on.

I'll pop in, sure, but time and circumstances wouldn't allow me to accept any mod or admin stuffs. Been there, done that (on gaming and writing boards, as well as IRL for University groups and whatnot). Once my youngest is back at school next week, i won't be here as often (more work on). And, with great power comes great....

Spoiler

Less light, more grammar urghs. ;)

Also, re: blocking. You can block as a rogue... if you pick up "parry". ;)
