Conal, do you have any idea why Patch 3 became fixes instead of PC improvements?  Scylla Costa stated on the blog that the next priority after Patch 2 was PC controls.  That's the only official word we had, so what the patch has delivered is a little... confusing.  Considering that the blog, support forums, and twitter has directed folks to this thread for updates, and we have not received any updates but the blog, communication has not been clear.

Obviously we're going to have to wait until Patch 4 for PC control adjustments.  Accepting that would be a lot easier if more was shared about the thought processes, what happened, and what may be coming.  I realize your hands may be too tied to answer any of those, but nothing ventured...

Because the development cycle for Patch 3 fell over the holiday period, our priority focus for this patch were items that blocked progress (like key drop or Dorian's quest) and other bug fixes. It's important for us that our devs have time at the holidays to spend with their loved ones and families, and after a long production cycle, this was some well deserved time off.
We are still working on future items and improvements for later patches based on the feedback we have received here and elsewhere. I can't give you any specifics as of yet, but as Scylla said, improving PC mouse and keyboard controls is still a priority for us. The fact that we weren't able to get it into patch 3 doesn't change that priority, as not at bugs and features are created (or solved) equal.
I can't provide further updates until after Patch 3 is out, but I will give more info once it's possible to do so.

I'll pop in, sure, but time and circumstances wouldn't allow me to accept any mod or admin stuffs. Been there, done that (on gaming and writing boards, as well as IRL for University groups and whatnot). Once my youngest is back at school next week, i won't be here as often (more work on). And, with great power comes great....

Spoiler

Less light, more grammar urghs. ;)

Also, re: blocking. You can block as a rogue... if you pick up "parry". ;)

Great blue flames of destruction of course. You're not funny today, Mom (sorry, couldn't resist) ;)

Hey Everyone, notes for the upcoming Patch 3 on PC are now available here.

We're continuing to work on making your DA:I experience better, and we will provide more updates in the future when we can.

I can't confirm a release date just yet, but will update when I can.

Thank you, Mr Pierse. Very much appreciated. (This may come across as sarcasm, because, silly text-based medium. It isn't. :) )

Walking! /faints.

(Also yay on the Sera quest fix. I was sick of reloading every time--and Varric's legs were driving me nuts. Hoping Patch 4 gets Alistair's tarot card to trigger. Oh, and also *that* conversation with Morrigan. :D).

WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW (I would have put it under tags but I want Mr Pierse to see it):

ETA: For Mr Peirse's information, to send back, since it seems to be PC-only: people who have been able to get that last scene to trigger, btw, all report they had cleared Morrigan's other conversations. They're also on console. I've noticed, in 3 different playthroughs in which the conversation should trigger (Morrigan OG baby with HoF/Alistair Warden/HoF went through Eluvian/is Morrigan's loverly lad;-- Morrigan OG baby with Alistair/Alistair Warden/HoF Alistair's girl;-- and Morrigan OG baby with HoF/HoF king/Loghain Warden)--I've gone back and retried two of those, following Mr Gaider's instructions and those of those who have managed it--there is one thing they all have in common. Thsoe for whom it triggers on 360 all say they completely cleared Morrigan's convos and it triggered. On PC (in my games, at least), Morrigan's "tell me about yourself" conversation doesn't clear once it's been had. It remains on a loop for the entire game. I'm wondering if that's a factor. Certainly it doesn't matter if you do Halamshiral or Crestwood first, whether you talk to the Warden in the cave after his cutscene first, or wait until you're back at Skyhold to continue your conversation, or whether you meet the OG kid before or after the Warden--I've tried them all, and it triggered in none of these. I gave the first attempt a Very Long time (I did all of the game possible before Adamant--to the point I only had Adamant and the following story and the side quests from the War Table/judgements triggered by the story left to do when the Warden left--so about 50 hours' worth of play with Alistair and Morrigan on-site (with, I am sorry to say, a good 5 hours of that being loooooooooaaad.... screeeeeens..... after Patch 2. Slight exaggeration. But not by much). Lots of in and out of Skyhold. Visited the garden every time I returned. Did not trigger). Repairing game did not help.

(Edited again to clarify difference: Hero of Ferelden vs "The Warden" for DA:I )

Yeh but now characters have PlasticHair, a unique feature only supported on the most modern graphics!

maxresdefault.jpg

I think a real next generation graphics would be like this (expect PC is quintessential generation akin to time)

Crysis-3-Ross-Kemp-lookal-008.jpg

Everything Inquisition aims (or marketed) to be the best fails, being mediocre on average, but is horrible in some aspects:

- Best graphics - sometimes it could look like DX8

- Best content - just fetch quests

- Best action and satisfactory play - action playing is bad, any MMO does better

- Tactical play - no words

- Bioware quality story level - Just like someone took a script of a B movie and put on a game.

Someone remember Two Worlds? A game that said on own box to be Oblivion on steroids? I dont know why, but Inquisition remember a lot Two Worlds, its immense size full of meaningful content.

Two Worlds 2 was a pretty great game, though, imho. Loved act I with the Savannah quests, the city in Act 2, the magic system based on ...Magic the Gathering, and crafting, and combat, and ... wait...where am I again? On a DAI forum?

Why can't I say those  things about a BW product anymore?

Except it wasn't, and there were new posters adding in their complaints (and in general echoing the existing complaints) practically every day since November.

Even if every single reply on here was a unique user it would still amount to a tiny minority of the install base though and it seems to be fairly concentrated on just BSN on top of that. Now, I'm not saying the game doesn't have problems mind you, just that this thread jumped the shark ages ago as far as being anything constructive about those problems. So pointing to its length as evidence of anything doesn't say much anymore.

Anything constructive gets drowned out by the hyperbole and things like the near religious crusade to get male elf arms fixed... >.>

What is important to know is if micro transaction is working. If not, it must be support team #1 priority.

We're continuing to work on making your DA:I experience better, and we will provide more updates in the future when we can.

I can't confirm a release date just yet, but will update when I can.

Uh is that all? That looks like some hotfix a dev team of any mmo or any real pc game could whip up in three days, not in a friggin' month, holidays or not... You aware, that many people, like me, can't enjoy the game because of how bad the controls, the UI and the tac cam are (and those things are VERY important in this game)? It's basically gathering dust now because i haven't touched it since the release (also those 30 fps animations are giving me headaches, it's awful, why it's not fixed?)

but will provide a future update as soon as I can.

See ya in a month then? Why the heck can't you speak to your community? I mean Darrah is quite chatty on his twitter account all while delivering non answers and basically lifting the middle finger when we remind him how fùcked up the game that was made by pc gamers for pc gamers is, but on the official forums? Nah, that's for peasants.

improving PC mouse and keyboard controls is still a priority for us.

No it's not and you know it (patch 3 and months after the release it's still not fixed, even ubisoft is better at it and we all know they suck at their job), if it was, you wouldn't have released the game in this sorry a$$ state.

He's said all he can .... We need to read between the lines of Conal's post regarding communication.  He'll post what he can, when he's given permission to do so.

Confirms what i've been saying all along, EA's keeping their balls in her purse.

SIgh, just give us modding tools and you can get back to snorting cocaine or whatever it is you've been doing with the money you scammed out of us....

No one is going to begrudge a worker their holidays, but there are still many people out there (as is evident by this thread) that find this game completely unplayable due to the control scheme. Surely this was known before release, and now months later we still have no indication of when or if this will be rectified. If this is how quickly BW respond to priority issues, I hate to see how long it takes you to change a leaking tap in the office!

Thank you for posting in this thread though, keep it up and please encourage others at BW to do so too :)

I know you can't out right say yes, but it would be a good idea to even hint at the idea that the direct x crash is being addressed. Since the issue seemed to be left out of the patch notes, it makes me wonder if it's even being looked into at this point.

I'm not saying that right now, but I'm not not saying it either ;)

I'll give you more updates when I can, but can't say much at this stage.

That's saying nothing, now and since the release.

I'm a bit disappointed with the wait but at least the thread hasn't been outright abandoned yet. Thanks for the updates, please keep them coming regardless of how small they might be.

Don't worry, this thread won't be abandoned... plenty of us still around to keep it alive, until either fixes are made, or refunds are given.

From what they fixed in the available time excluding 3 weeks of holiday I would say they probably have two developers working on fixes, so I doubt they are dedicating significant resources to fixing their game. After all, they have the bulk of the money that this game is going to generate already.

That being said, I sincerely hope that someone fixes the UI/Controls/Tactical Zoom/right click auto-attack(outside tactical view)/AI problems.

Hmmm... I seriously doubt that. MP is a cash cow for EA. It's to their afvantage to smooth MP play as much as possible... Besides, single player may get corollary fixes....

Which reminds me, someone said "all good things come to those who wait."  In the meantime, I decided to install Harpoon Classic in a Virtual Machine... man I forgot how good a navy war simulation game it was...

So the reason why we dont get patches in time is that DA Developers are working on ME4??

http://www.gamepur.c...working-it.html

Can you please FIX YOUR GAME YOU SOLD FIRST, before you make new games??

Of course!

2015 is really DAI maintenace and ME4 marketing cycle. I will bookmark every ME4 interview, record if possible every stream video or bookmark the link, bookmark every game magazine article and wait for ME4 to launch. Then I will do a post mortem lauch of ME4 angry forum posts vs the video links and interviews......then I will make a wait/buy/nobuy decision.

As Mr. Laidlaw said, "...choices have consequences.." . I certainly wish to avoid a poor choice.

I'm curious about the walk binding, is it a toggle function? A hold function? Or... *crosses fingers* both?

Regardless I'm glad that patch 3 isn't the final one that will address PC concerns.

Ok great.. I can walk now. But I've already played the game. I'm willing to replay but not  for a walking toggle. Fixing the Tac Cam might do it. Or adding more skill slots, or adding auto-attack - that might also do it.

I'm convinced more now then ever that there won't be any major fixes or additions until a DLC. Just that simple. So expect to pay., My advice is to put this game down and check back next year. By then, EA should be on their 2nd DLC (one for Summer and one for Xmas) and you could probably pick up the whole game, plus DLC's for 30 bucks.

I believe nothing that comes out of EA. This company has lied and bullshittted too much. I'm a huge ME fan and i simple refuse to get excited. Cause that's exactly what EA wants,. Start the hype now with low-level press placements and build from there. In a year they'll be announcing "pre-order and get a purple ship" or something.

I doubt it, from what I've seen companions not holding is due to the companion warping triggers, and it's not listed. Patch 4...
