If you're one of those people who wants a couple of other people at Bioware to get fired because you don't like their their product, then you ****** suck. And no, I'm not putting it more nicely than that. You're a jerk and a bad person. Do you know what it's like to be unemployed? ****** terrible. You're a bad person and bad things should happen to you. That's an overreaction in the extreme. That's like me wanting someone at Jergens to get fired because some lotion gave me a rash.
A game that you don't like and *gasp* was designed with a controller in mind is not cataclysmic, it's not apocalyptic, and it's not the end of the world. You're comparing the sinking of the goddamn Titanic to a video game launch. For ****'s sake.
Just watched a video from Mike Laidlaw saying game was developed for PC!!! Yes, I would ask for his head and probably his manager as well. You do not make absolute lies to public without covering your a***. If anything has made Bioware's name s***. this video did.

I don't care who you've worked for, that is not acceptable under any circumstances.
I have taken a lot of 5hit in my time as PR Counsel; been called a "spin doctor" and a "flak" and a "mouthpiece," which is not what I do in corporate PR strategy design. So I am very gratified to read your remark. Speaking on behalf of real professional PR allow me to underscore, highlight and otherwise emphasize how true your comment is. There is a call for licensing the PR trade into a profession simply because many in business and in the trade do not simply understand this public trust.
Thank you for making your statement boldly. Some people need a good slap, especially as they represent themselves to be practitioners of sound public relations practice.

Last night actually
That's when I did the rollback. I completely removed the driver and freshly installed 344.65 (my PC did that automatically instead of going straight to .75 for whatever reason), and after that made no difference and it crashed after a lousy 7 minutes of riding a horse, used Geforce Experience (as always) to go back to .75, and I already had that driver when I got the game.
My current in game settings are:
- windowed borderless, 1680 x 1050 resolution
- No background programs running (skype, fraps, steam, windows live mail + a bunch of others, these normally always run)
- Origin overlay disabled
- mesh ultra
- tesselation off
- texture fade touched
- shadow, vegetation, water etc high
- post processing quality low
- effects ultra
- post processor antialiasing low
- multi sampling off (with FXAA forced through the control panel)
Though when I first started the game I had everything cranked to ultra and played in normal fullscreen as that were the automatic settings, and it gave me smooth 60FPS in the prologue/Haven, so it's not like my PC can't handle it. When I had the first crash I had already closed the big rift (was still in Haven), and had another one an hour later or so, in the Hinterlands. I turned everything down to high and was able to play for another hour and from that point on crashes happened from anywhere between 5 to 30 minutes, though usually closer around 10 minutes. They also don't seem to be linked to anything, I've read posts where people say they often happened during conversations or when in menus... not the case with me. They're 100% random.
Perhaps it's the Hinterlands itself that is causing the problem but so far I haven't been able to actually leave it yet because of said crashes
I also at first thought it was perhaps an overheating issue, because the crashes to desktop come with no errors (as I see a lot of complaining about directx related crashes but I haven't had those). The thing is before DAI I ran AC:Unity at ultra at 60FPS with literally ZERO problems + fraps/steam overlay/skype etc, and it's the same with Far Cry 4. No issues there either.
This PC is barely two months old and doesn't have a lot of junk on it (did an extra complete virus and malware scan to be sure and nothing came up), so... to my best knowledge, I don't see how this can be any other but a driver problem. Unless it's really a Hinterlands issue, I have no idea.
You seem to have a good handle on things Endee ![]()
The pattern you're describing though is exactly the experience I was having, though I clearly weren't getting as far as you were in the game. there is no doubt that there are serious optimisation issues and some broken code in there. My CTD's were also without error messages - nothing just BAM gone!
I have a couple of suggestions but honestly its just a shot in the dark. You said when things were running smooth you were in Fullscreen mode. If you haven't tried that since it might be worth trying it again. Also I would suggest disabling FXAA in CP - Just to try.
Tessellation off wow - I have mine at Ultra - try that too. I'll check all my settings and post them here as an edit. Just in case the code is baulking at certain switches in gfx settings. You never know... it might be that the code is broken with certain switches - hope that makes sense? ![]()

You wanna know something interesting.... this hits me sideways.
Felicia Day, a cheerleader for the DA franchise since Origins, is not playing DA3. She is playing Legend of Grimrock 2, from Finnish indie video game developer "Almost Human"..
I doubt it means anything, really, but I just thought it was interesting.

Marketing lies all the time. Sprint tells me they have the best network in America, but that's not true and I know it's not true. I'm not demanding anyone's head though. I just shake my own head and move on with my life.

Yes. You're right. Some people do need a good slap. And I'm really glad that you seem to know the inner workings of Bioware better than anyone. I mean, it's pretty impressive. You know all the decisions and how they were made and everything that led up to release. Very impressive, sir. Very.

This is an unfortunate side effect of being a " jack of all trades" developer. The irony is that people always say, when it comes to rpgs, to focus your character build so you won't be underpowered for endgame. Bioware was an independent studio that had the ability to forge partnerships with whatever publisher they wanted. They instead chose, for better or for worse, to leash themselves to EA. Now they have the unenviable task of trying to bridge the gap between PC and Console. Its a task , in my view, that has no winnable, at least for gamers, outcome. I don't dislike this game, in fact I'm enjoying it very much, but its the apparent lack of attention to detail that annoys me. For example tactical mode snaps to overhead view which is fine but there's no up or down keys for moving perspective from overhead to ground level. I've adapted to the way tac cam works and have found that ground level, for me at least, is better than overhead. So you need to hold down right mouse button and swipe down. This to me, is awkward and unintuitive. It isn't a deal breaker but what it feels like is a rush job and that's my complaint. I don't see any reason why the up down arrow keys couldn't have been utilized for this. The design decisions are what they are but make sure you do due diligence when it comes to quality control. If its not ready then back up release until it is or at the very least have a day one patch ready. I would rather wait and have a more polished product than one that is rushed out the door.

I think so , look no further than wasteland 2 for example, that game is constantly being patched. That, to me, shows customer service, a trait I might add that is in sharp decline in business in general. The devs for that game actually take the time to address customer feedback in the forums which shows ,to me, that when you're hungry you're gonna go the extra mile. When a business gets too big that it takes its customers for granted it will eventually pay a price for that attitude.

Nothing new under the sun. They lied as they did with ME3 (remember Casey Hudson saying "it's not like an ABC ending, choices will matter", etc).

Actually you can toggle the tac cam by pressing "T" (by default).

The "T" button only toggles you in and out of tac cam. I was referring to having keyboard shortcuts that allow you to move the camera up or down while staying in tac cam.

That sums it up pretty much. I still have a little hope with CD Projekt and the Witcher 3. BioWare took its stance with ME2. Back then it was clear that they were going full "mainstream" (don't mind this line, it was thought for another post)

I am seeing exactly the same problem. I have found that when the crashes happen either on a conversation or area transition I can get past the "crash point" by setting the graphics to the medium preset. After make a save after the crash point I can set it back to ultra and be fine for another 5min to several hours (it really is random at times).
