I'm so tired, If BW is not going to take me serious as a customer, I will not longer taking them serious as a game developer.
 
Uninstalling DA:I  , never buying ME:4 , and I will wait until DA:I DLC and DA:4 are on a -50% sale to buy them.

I'm just confused, because I never heard any clamoring for "jog", just "walk" (which I agree would be useful, especially for getting shards). They add walk and now people are angry they didn't add jog, too? I feel like I missed something.

Keep pressing and don't give up. Patch 3 may not have held onto all of its original goals but that's not to say it's necessarily dismissed or forgotten. I for one won't let it be forgotten. As such, here's my personal succinct list:
 
1. UI is still a nightmare. Lack of tooltips. In game menu navigation. Lack of information gleaning at all really.
2. Controls continue to feature hallmarks of consignment to devices other than Keyboard and Mouse.
3. Tactical Camera... :? I can't queue commands. I can't mouse pan. I can't zoom out too far without cheat engine. I can't. I can't...

You cannot RAGE QUIT. Things won't change. Just take a deep breath and do something else to take your mind off of it. Come back collected, refreshed and focused.

You forgot the other option: high. I'm good now.

I think people are more amused than angry since there was already a better fix.  Except Dubya, he's mad.

 

Also, I was kind of waiting for the first person to tell people to be grateful that they added walk and stop carping about not getting jog too.  In other words, equivalent console controls.  You only kind of count, because you didn't insult anyone.

So its working properly for you? Some people seem to be saying that they can toggle walk on but not off. 

I have the same issue. I'm stuck walking.

the armour rating bug...

 

someone tested it? cuz from what i see (hunting druffalos in crestwood), using crafted shield and non-crafted one (crafted one still reduces damage taken significantly). it's visual only bug, i think.

There are two different sprints, actually.   :D   In multiplayer, you can really sprint by pressing a key.  Sprint-sprint?  In single player with a controller you can walk, jog, and "sprint".  In single player without a controller you can walk and sprint, but only sprint-sprint in multiplayer.

 

Maybe it's walk, jog, and run fast.  Then sprint only with multiplayer.  Words!

There's a walk toggle option in the controls menu.

Not for me. It's not there. I have no idea what version my game is on. Origin just says, "up to date."

 

I don't use a joystick, but I do use a Nostromo Razer Gaming Pad and a six-button mouse. I'm at a loss here.

Well, now I'm broken because of that gif.  I'm okay with walk/sprint also.  But still amused.

 

I'm playing bingo and waiting for "second class citizen" because of 2 speeds vs 3, though.

When you say walk/run, is the "run" the "run" we have in the pre-patch game or is it now a sprint?

I have to say, given none of the notes even touched armour, the fact that crafted shields are broken amuses me greatly. Reminds me of WoW during Cata when Blizzard finally fixed long-term Hunter bugs they broke warrior charge. To fix Warrior charge meant they re-broke the hunter and also carked disengage. They left disengage broken until mid-Panda (given my main was a Hunter and my son's a Warrior... heh). At least those things were linked, somehow. :D

"Dammit, Varric!"

 

Pre-patch we had the full speed run only. Now we can (at least) toggle between full speed run and walk. 

But this is simply not good enough, because with controller you can walk > jog > run. So why in the blue **** can we not also have that with KB&M controls? 

It really angers me how little Bioware care and they seem to almost resent us for having to give us that walk toggle.

New patch, new bugs.

 

 

I wonder if that's something intrinsic to the Forstbite 3 engine to be so incredibly quirky (Bf4 likewise usually introduces more bugs than fixes with every patch).

 

 

I mean, patches introducing new bugs is nothing new, but the frequency and intensity of new issues popping up (or old issues resurfacing again) seems unusually high. That actually goes for pretty much everything currently happening, I mean I surely don't need to remind people of the various software woes of the last months throughout the gaming scene and I am not malicious enough to accuse all those developers of suddenly having forgotten all they know of programming.

well, the walk/run toggle works for me, i have noticed a bit of a drop in fps, though, i think i might just need to clear my ram, as usage is spiking a bit. and the party chatter seems to fire more frequently, at least for me. so, I'm happy with this patch, though I'd like to be that happy with the rest of the game.

as someone pointed out, we asked for a walk/run toggle, they gave us one. no one really asked for a walk/jog/run toggle, so i can't fault bw for not being mind readers. so thanks for letting me walk toggle, and the patch.

I can understand wanting the equivalent controls for KB+M and controller, I just don't remember "jog" being in anyone's list of demands and I'm trying to think of a situation where I want to be able to run, but not too fast. I mean, it's in the game, and I agree you shouldn't need a controller to access all the same functionality, but I'm trying to understand why it's such a big deal.

Let me help you there. Two things, really.

 

1 - You missed the part where you can walk/jog/run with controller in hand, so why should KB&M gamers be disadvantaged?

 

2 - There is a MOD that does a far better job than Bioware, using THEIR code! Why should it be acceptable for BIoware to push out this half-arsed mechanic to PC gamers? Did we somehow pay less for our game than everyone else? 

 

This was my fear from day 1 - that they would implement a half-baked solution instead of taking pride in their own damn work.

The Thing Itself™ is not, I don't think.  It's that the community came up with a better fix a while ago, and instead of just incorporating THAT fix, they came up with their own, less-good fix.  It kind of implies the community has more expertise than they do, yeah?  I'm thinking there was a reason and it would have busted other things messing with the movement state, but who knows.  

 

People will just see a half-arsed fix 'cause BioWare can't explain it.  If they explain that it's bad for the engine, people will point them to the community fix (even if that's not equivalent, and it's not).  If they don't explain, people will say they suck at coding.

Okay. I can deal with spiders, scorpions, rattlesnakes and coyotes. I'm dealt with all of them living in Texas. Oh yeah, we also have the feared Jackalope.

Honestly Dub, I don't think it's resentment, it just seems like a lack of talent/programming skill.

here in Arizona we have most of the same stuff, I've never seen a jackalope though. that's the rabbit with the deer antlers right? lol

so not only are my shields useless now, but for some reason starting a new game refuses to let me import a custom save, it doesn't even check for one. is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? 

Not just you. I can't import custom world states either now.

I'm up to date (thank you Ncongruous). I would've never looked there to find a version number (Bioware, really?). I still don't have the walk toggle option.
