Let me help you there. Two things, really.

1 - You missed the part where you can walk/jog/run with controller in hand, so why should KB&M gamers be disadvantaged?

2 - There is a MOD that does a far better job than Bioware, using THEIR code! Why should it be acceptable for BIoware to push out this half-arsed mechanic to PC gamers? Did we somehow pay less for our game than everyone else?

This was my fear from day 1 - that they would implement a half-baked solution instead of taking pride in their own damn work.

I don't think they have any idea what they are doing for the pc mate, i think they are hoping we all just give up and plug in a 360 controller:P

Not just you. I can't import custom world states either now.

This might be because of patch traffic.

here in Arizona we have most of the same stuff, I've never seen a jackalope though. that's the rabbit with the deer antlers right? lol

Yes, and they have incredible chameleon like skills. However, the greatest of Texas' creatures is the insanely elusive, but extremely dangerous Chupacabra.

Okay. I can deal with spiders, scorpions, rattlesnakes and coyotes. I'm dealt with all of them living in Texas. Oh yeah, we also have the feared Jackalope.

I'll raise you crocs, dingoes, many more snakes than mere rattlers, and drop bears. :D

Fixed. I disconnected my gaming pad and disabled it in Device Manager. Re-enabled my XBOX wireless controller and restarted the game. I have the option now. I undid the procedure and there it is. (Again, Bioware... really?) And it works. However, you have to hold down the toggle key while running or sprinting until the speed you desire is actually occuring. It's a gradual press and release. It's not instant. It's like a joystick being pushed forward slowly to gain speed or back slowly to decrease speed. Sigh.

I just did a test: I have not applied the patch yet and am properly logged in, started a new game--and it doesn't check for imported state.

So, this is probably correct. Not checking for custom state is NOT patch 3 specific.

Yeah, sounds like a malfunction in the Keep itself.

Hey, I'm not afraid. I would be a full-time adventurer if I was insanely rich. Then again, if I was insanely rich, I'd own Bioware and make games for PCs again.

There has been something wrong with the keep since the beginning. It let me import twice with two different characters and then it wouldn't let me do it on the third character.  It's very intermittent.  I gave up on that a while ago and just dealt with the default world state.  There is more irritating issues to resolve first. :(

Ahh yes, the dreaded - thylarctos plummetus. More dangerous than haggis scoticus from what I hear.

Walk toggle works for me. Wasn't bound to anything at first, I bound it at Alt, press to walk, press a second time to run. No issues so far.

Seeing how it's going to take multiple patches to get this game properly optimized for PC use, I think it's all going to end badly for us PC users. It's apparent to me that Brogan is absolutely on the money. I don't think Bioware has the internal resources or manpower it once did to maintain a PC platform. They're making attempts to uphold their reputation as PC game-makers, but they're behind on the learning curve. They're stuck with either a learning curve or throwing money at a problem they have the option of not fixing. As more months pass by, that learning curve is either met or EA spends money again. Everytime EA burns money, they don't take the hit. They rework it out of the company that is responsible for the game. It's not the first time this is happened. I see a Dragon Age that's going to be MMORPG using consoles as their base to fulfill EA's wish for a World of Warcraft type of game. Bioware's first attempt was the Old Republic and sadly, I rage-quitted once it went to Free2Play. Now, I may be wrong, but that is my impression. Any fanboys who try to flame me, go eat a tainted brownie. I just see an inevitable sad end to a company that I thought was incredibly brilliant and avant-garde.

It is time to admit that BioWare is dead, they are no longer the company that we love, now we just have EA making games using the name of what used to be a good developer.

They have plenty of resources. They also have pressure from the publisher to push things out before they are ready which is why they notoriously release stuff (even patches) with close to zero testing, because in all honesty how much testing does it take to notice the visual bug in the crafted shield tooltips ? DA:I could have used another 4 months in QA (and that's being generous) and someone to actually attempt the...unthinkable : to try to play and actually finish the game exclusively with a KB+M. They didn't do that. Maybe they ran out of time. Maybe they don't care. Who knows. The point of the matter is the game was deliberately released before the holidays to attract sales, provide devs with a much needed R&R and possibly bait a GOTY for a very weak year, gaming-wise. It's really not rocket science. They cannot salvage this mess and at this point, why should they bother. They got GOTY, they got mostly favorable reviews, job well done, moving on. It's people who should be more aware and actually vote with their wallets on the next Bioware release.

I got that fixed by disabling these 3 processes in the graphics options

1) Ambient Occulsion  turn it OFF

2) Post Processing antiallasing   Turn it OFF

3) Multisampling antialasing again turn this OFF

i have not had ONE DirectX error since i have done this, roughly level 7 up to 13 now, in the keep and using this setup

Hi Xalzias, thank you for the reply. I have tried to mess with graphical settings and I would like to say turning these 3 options off helped but sadly, the game still crashes.

ZocOe5H.png

There was one change, though - After I turned off Ambient Occulsion, the game didn't crash after I properly exited the application via main menu which had happened in 100% cases before changing settings.

Patch 3 didn't improve the situation.

Bioware: Please consider reassigning some resources to improving stability for ATI cards. Your comments look like you consider the matter closed. At this moment, DA:I has abruptly stopped more times than any Obsidian or Bethesda game I have played. Aside from that, the game is beautiful.
