That sums it up pretty much. I still have a little hope with CD Projekt and the Witcher 3. BioWare took its stance with ME2. Back then it was clear that they were going full "mainstream" (don't mind this line, it was thought for another post)

You also have InXile(Wasteland 2) working on Torment:Tides of Numenera. Obsidian is working on Pillars of Eternity, although I always hold my breath when it comes to Obsidian, nevertheless it looks like the genre is making a comeback. If these games are huge successes perhaps the bigger studios will take notice and hop on the bandwagon. That remains to be seen however.

I have noticed with MSAA off there alot more "jaggies".

Are you using "post processing" anti-aliasing as well? It is significantly less processor-intensive and delivers very good results for the cost, compared to MSAA.

Calm down people.

There are several things that make me wary of where some people try to take this thread.

Let me just say that DA:I was indeed (also) developed for the PC. The UI is not a typical PC UI though, but rather mostly, at this time, a console port. That is true. But the rest, graphics etc, is for the PC, so M.Laidlaw and co haven't lied.

There are some bugs for some PC configurations. This is nothing unique for a newly launched game. Patches will fix it. As usual.

As for invoking major shareholders and board members to involve themselves in what the development studios do, isn't that the last thing we want? Really. Think it through. Where would that lead to, in the long run?

Let the team have a chance to fix the major issues. They will do that. Then we'll see where it goes next.

I'd be very happy if you can just fix the Nvidia issue... then I could actually play the game. (I can't really speak about the gameplay until I can... you know... see what's going on.)

*snipped*

I think a great many people have NOT pre-ordered this game because of their experience pre-ordering DA2.

I think this will affect comparison launch sales between DA2 and DA3. DA2 PC sales I believe will be higher than DA3. This could be the reason for launching all platforms simultaneously: to consolidate the (hide PC) launch sales figures. I do not think DA2 had a money back guarantee, as does DA3. So if you want to send a message, return the game. It will hurt but only on this comparison.

Investors will be interested in continued growth and they will read the figures not the hype of PC Gamer Magazine. To an investor, DA2 was a win. Sales rocketed from DA:Origins success. DA2 is the bar. Investors expect DA3 to cross that bar. I suspect the sales figures will be consolidated rather than itemized.

Thanks for the insightful informations. The refund option was their only way out since they perfectly knew their game has some optimization problems and people were already wary (ME3 and DA2) of them. Even then a lot will keep the game and hope for a (quick) fix. Without the backlashes of ME3 and DA2 it wouldn't have even been any refund option.

DA2 was a short term win which used the popularity of DAO. DAI aside from the "small bugs" seems to be a good game a la Skyrim for the "open world" but nothing exceptional. From what I've collected from the users or critics feedback, we're very far away from a Baldur's Gate, nevewinter Nights, Mass Effect 1 in terms of narration, story or characters. Which were precisely the reasons why I bought a BW game (I follow them since Baldur's Gate).

So yeah the sales are increased and DAI will be without a doubt a commercial success, but what will remain from this studio? All the original BW heads have already jumped out of the boat and I'm certain that ME4 will be the last nail on the coffin of BW's reputation of making quality RPGs.

Post processing is on high. I use a mix of high/ultra settings along with MSAA x 2 and get 50-60 fps but can dip into the 40's. I have noticed with MSAA off (PP on high) there are more jaggies. I run the game at 1920x1280 on a EVGA GTX970 FTW 4gig (not overclocked), i7-4770 (OC'd-4400mhz), 16 gigs G. Skill Trident X ram, installed on a Samsung 840 Pro SSD. I do get some quirky issues when I turn in the game possibly related to micro-stutter. It could be the games mouse settings fighting the polling rates of my Logitech G9 software. I have tweaked the sensitivity/smoothing/turning rate but its still touchy. I do know if I can keep it as close to 60 fps as possible it is better so lowering the graphics is an option.

9:22PM EST- I went back and tried MSAA off again with Ultra settings and it is comparitive to the way I had it but it looks better with more ultra options (I had a couple more "highs"). There are some real frame drops in areas though. It's usually the busy areas so hopefully some patching and updated video drivers will solve that in time.

I have my eyes on Pillars of Eternity too. The genre is indeed making a comeback (Wasteland 2 and somewhat Divinity original Sin)

Chris Avellone, narrative designer of "Pillars of Eternity" ruled out a console port and said: "Those [console] limitations affect RPG mechanics and content more than players may realize (especially for players who've never played a PC RPG and realize what's have been lost over the years), and often doesn't add to the RPG experience."

the game may work but its very poorly optimatize and with current control scheme for combat and tact cam my hands hurt after 2 hours of playing, feel like more like i was jerking of 2 hours rather than playing a game for 2 hours

I got used to the controls after an hour or two. Tac cam has never been something I used, so I can't say that bothers me. I did find the controls for it horrid though. Rebound A and D to be left and right.

No, it doesn't work. The latest nvidia drivers have not resolved the CTD errors many players, including myself, have been experiencing since release. AMD GPU owners are still having issues as well. There are hundreds of posts in the Feedback and Tech support forums about this issue. This is a clear indication that this game was not tested appropriately on PC, which is a bit sad since it was (supposedly) developed by PC gamers for PC gamers. *rolls eyes*

It works quite well for me. Even before the drivers were released, I had zero stability issues. The only time the game crashed on me 52 hours of play was once during the last boss fight.

I'm only wondering if the MP will be as addictive as ME3's was. Something like 1100 or 1200 hours in that one.

Great to hear! I'm putting off playing it due to the rather lacking PC controls. This is the entire reson that I decided to get this on PC as well. I figured it would allow for the most intuitive and precise placement of party members in tactical view. Really anticipating s patch!

Not playing this game for lacking pc native controlls is bullshit, the game plays great with a game pad, not playing it for that is just a child rant. So, more important, there are some bugs that need to be cleared fist.

Thanks for the update.

Not fun when 75% of the time my game crashes in a cutscene (especially AFTER char creation.  You seriously need to make an autosave after that).

And now, it seems Origin is getting slammed with DDOS attacks, as can't connect to it.  *sigh*

I'll definitely second some of the complaints for PC players; tactical view camera angles are cumbersome as all hell and having to hold down a button to continue my attacks isn't nearly as immersive as I never thought it would be.

Quibbles aside, clocked 40 hours over my week off from work and have loved almost every other aspect. Seriously well done. Sort out the PC gremlins and you'll be onto a winner.

Thats a childish thing to say, j/k. Anyway, you have to understand the heart of the PC player with games like this or at least what DAO was compared to DAI. They gave us an action game with RPG elements designed for a console and tough to play with a kb/mouse. Sure, a joystick is a great option for a PC but it smacks some as insulting (for an RPG at least). I don't have a Xbox 360 controller to use anyway if I wanted too. After tweaking for a while I got it running "OK". So, the bottom line here is if I wanted to play a console game I would have bought it for a console; see what I mean?

Look even ''that game'' recieved better/proper support and they actually added many new features to the game with three patches..

http://steamcommunit...19460807523570/

To be honest, I still believe the issues mentioned here will be fixed, and UI for PC will be as it should be from the very beggining (like it was in DAO or even in DA2), and I also hope that they can ''extend'' the present tactical aspect (or lack of it) to some degree (say half of what we had in DAO/DA2 would be nice..)

Yeah. I was going to upgrade my rig for this game; after hearing about the controls, I've purchased a PS4 instead (husband wants one anyway so it really worked out well for him lol).

I've been following the game very closely for a year and their marketing was very robust. I was on these forums every.single.day. I never heard mention of a change to the control schematics, which, just like everything else that effects me bodily, are very important to me (point and click was in the last two games, I didn't even think to ask). In hindsight, I'd have liked to have seen an overview of the PC controls in a Twitch stream or something, so I could have made a better informed purchase.

All that said, I love Bioware, and I'm sure DAI is beautiful. I'm looking forward to playing it in December and, someday hopefully, on my preferred platform, the PC.

I've adapted somewhat and have been thoroughly enjoying the game anyway, but I would be thrilled to have more intuitive mouse-and-keyboard controls.

I, like many others are a first time poster on here. And I just wanted to be another angry voice among the rest and say my peace.

Ive never been a huge bioware fan. In fact, Ive never bought a bioware game until a few months ago. I noticed that Origin was giving DA:O away for free, and I was looking for a game to play in my spare time and decided to give it a try. In a few months I did one play through of DAO. I fell in love with the game. I fell in love with my character, I fell in love with Alistair, I fell in love with the story and my decisions. I just completely fell head over heels with the game. So after I finished my playthrough I decided to go ahead and buy DA2. I wasnt as completely impressed with the game but I still enjoyed it. Combat wasnt as good, but it was still playable with the gameplay options and controls I was very easily to go through the game and one playthrough in a couple weeks. The only thing that really made me mad about 2 was the same dungeons and zones over and over again, and what they did to Anders. But I was over it when I realized that Inquisition was coming out, so I did a quick playthrough to get through the story and make my decisions so I could play this new game.

Imagine my surprise when I load up this brand new game, in all my excitement, create my character and log in for the first time. I go to press both my mouse buttons to move my character and instead it shoots the weapon.. huh? This isnt right.. So I chalk it up to different controls and start to program my brain to the WASD movements.

Then I go to pause the game only to realize.. SPACE is jump..? Okay, I can get used to that.. I mean, Im a seasoned MMO player, and in MMOS where SPACE is normally jump.. BUt Im not coming off playing an MMO, Im coming off playing months of DAO, DAA and DA2.. After 10 minutes I realize that SPACE is just not going to work for jumping.. so I go to the controls and swap Space for Pause and Pause for Jump.. Okay.

I go a little more into the game, coming upon cutscenes that are completely choppy.. But not a dealbreaker.. Maybe its my settings.. so I change them down from Ultra to High and that seems to help a bit. Another couple minutes of play and Im beginning to realize that I have to continuously press the magnafying glass to search for loot.. so I change that to TAB key, but instead of just having it pressed down at all times while Im playing, I have to continuously press it. Not a big deal it.. I get used to it a little bit. I go to pick up the loot, and instead Im shooting off my weapon. I cant click to walk to loot, click to walk to people, click to walk to open doors.. I have to be right ontop of everything. Now Im getting a little annoyed but Im still playing because Im excited. The Rifts Im trying to close are almost impossible, I get accustomed to the TC, I can barely fight anything, people arent listening to me, Cass is off doing whatever, my character (whose a mage) wants to run up and hit everything (Wtf??)

So I manage to make my way to the tutorial boss.. Tutorial boss! And I die. I completely wipe. Unable to click the stupid Rift, unable to get my characters do listen to me, using up the potions like crazy.. wipe. On a tutorial boss. On hard mode. So, I chalk this up to a new game, getting used to new controls. So I load up and try again.. This time I put the game on Normal mode and I manage to pass it, but now I beyond frusterated and cant get used to the new controls or anything, and log out to go to google and search for a way to fix everything.. and thats when I come across THIS thread.

Im not normally one to go researching games and what-not before I play them. I know games I like to play and I just buy them. I played DAO, and DA2 in a few months, and went straight to this game. This is when I realize.. everything. And Im beyond disappointed. Probably not to the point of everyone else, who have been Bioware customers from the get go, years and years of Bioware loyalty.. But Im disappointed.

I will say this.. Im a major avid Sims player. Sims 4 was released just a couple months ago. And I had to go community forums to read why that game was incomplete. The Sims 4 was released with over 80+ features, released with the past 3 sims games, not in the game. Basic features. That came with all the other games. Features that made the game unplayable. Features, that, GLARINGLY made the game NOTICEABLY incomplete. It was VERY obvious that EA has gotten its claws into Maxis, a company that I, myself, HAVE been with since the release of the original sims, since the game that I played Sims 1 and all of its expansions, Sims 2 and all its expansions, Sims 3 and all of its expansions, and now Sims 4. And for me, that was the game I inwardly cried over.. the destruction of the Sims 4. Released way to early. Released incomplete. And EA/Maxis is still releasing weekly patches and updates to add features into that game which were completely missing.

In that respect I think they will do right and try to fix this game. But I am broken hearted that EA is making the Bioware ship sink.. and sink fast. In the utterly completely same way that it ruined and destroyed Maxis and my Sims.

In this, I just wanted to let people know my problems and issues with this game are the same as everyone elses.. and that its not just Bioware that EA sunk.. Seems its not Bioware thats the complete problem. Because I see a trend that expands further then just Bioware, and it looks to me, like people should be pointing the finger further then Bioware.

In that, Im doing the same thing I did with the Sims 4 and Im calling them to complain and ask for my refund in the morning. This will be the last EA game I EVER purchase. EA has screwed me for the LAST time.

The game is growing on me albeit slowly. I seem compelled to post to vent my disappointment but I think its about run its course. I just want to get in the game and enjoy it. I haven't used my older consoles in a while (I'm a PC person too) but I was actually thinking about buying a PS4 (for DAI) this Black Friday (American shopping frenzy day). I have faith in Bioware that they will address the communities concerns to make DAI better on the PC. Thanks for the reply :wizard:
