You know all this time I was going - "could be worse, at least Bioware ain't going the Xbox exclusive route like Crystal Dynamics and lying through their teeth about the whys and whys"

No, this is all just piling up.

Why are you mad? Basically Xbox players are going to beta test the DLC for us! :P

Well, if XBoxOne users want to beta-test DLCs, fine. I don't care much about timed exclusives, these things are released when they are released.

Heck I used to own a Macintosh, so I'm quite used to waiting months and sometimes years for game releases, there's no added value in getting things "first". Not in this business.

That being said, good grief, the line being espoused by BW, that xbox timed exclusives allow them to work on DLCs faster.. who are they trying to convince?

The most important thing is that BW makes this game an authentic PC experience, not a console's sloppy seconds.

It's the BS piling up, perhaps some of it is drawn from elsewhere in the industry, but I'm sorry, I've been burnt enough with all these stupid console wars, exclusives, MS bribing companies to alienate their non-Xbox fanbase AND THE LIES treating their paying customers like idiots.

Anyway I'm calmer now, I just needed it out. Still, I'm done with supporting Bioware after that news.

It's not the patches that turned out to be the last straw. It's how they think we can even buy their BS. I just can't support this. However, just my opinion based on my experiences with MS, console wars with gamers suffering from it in the end, exclusives trying to get you to buy their console for ONE game, TR going Xbox exclusive for $$$ (even if it's true that Square Enix had huge unrealistic expectations from the studio when it comes to the sales and they apparently didn't deliver), combined with everything else, controller focus with DAI (and seeing people buy controllers to play this game), 2 months for a walk toggle...

I'll get my money's worth from DAI with mods then I'm out. I wish Bioware well with their direction. But this is not the industry, nor the practices that I wish to support.

Well console exclusives just make me drop a product. I liked halo at one point but 2's antics of vista only and then it stopped coming on pc. I pretty much dropped the series.

EDIT: Shield bug now confirmed as 'known issue' and 'under investigation' on Tech Support sub-forum.

And now it is officially addressed as a bug introduced by patch 3.

They are also warning players who want to use crafted shields to wait for the hotfix.. I suppose they are going to fix it soon then?

Same, I dropped Bioware for years until KOTOR/ME/JE was all on PC.

With everything that has piled up so far on DAI PC however, and then this news with "We are developing on Xbox first so we can do it faster on other platforms!!!"

Especially with what is happening with the sequel to Tomb Raider, seriously it just triggered me.

The DLC stuff doesnt' bother me but I wish they would either admit the pc is an after thought or make a real effort to improve the pc experience. The stuff that is a major headache is trivial to improve yet they continue to do really silly stuff (like tweet their major accomplishment is adding a walk toggle). It makes them look very bad.

-

Anyways i know a lot of people like the game (no clue on sales number) but I can't see myself buying DLCs until they improve the game and if they don't that's fine maybe i'm the sort of person (market) they are not interested in - which is also fine. Not every game works for everyone and I can live with that I just wish they would be upfront in their PR - that part is what offends me/pisses me off.

I wouldn't have been triggered by the DLC if DAI wasn't a console port to begin with that has yet to be fixed + their marketing campaign. But anyway, rant over.

dai's patching seems to be a cycle of period of short commuication and then no communication, events interrupting the patching and creating new problems with each patch

DAI (Release) -> promise of addressing pc concerns -> no communication -> "GOTY" award back patting -> patch 2 release (short period of communication) -> new problems -> hotfix -> holiday break -> no communication again -> patch 3 release (short period of communication) -> new problems  -> no communication again -> PAX south

bioware time is the new valve time,

(Valve) when is Half-life 3 or Half-Life 2 episode 3 coming out - when we feel like it

(Bioware) when is a patch for DAi coming out - when we feel like telling you, like literally a few day befor the patch drops

with GDC and PAX East in March and E3 3 month after that in June, I wonder how long patch 4 will be pushed back

also Witcher 3 in releasing in May, along other AAA games releasing in the March-June time frame like Arkham Knight, at this rate I wonder how long Bioware can keep their consumers attention

i think the main problem with this exclusive/release first bullshit is, you show your customers you value a bigger profit over happy customers. in an industry thats kind of "art'y" and where the customer has to make so many excuses to justify the quality of products that were sold to them, its a really bad thing to show pure greed, and exclusives/first releases are nothing else than this.

devs want to be treated as artist, as people that do everything possible to satisfy their customers but sometimes the circumstances are "difficult" and they hope for our appreciation.....but they behave as greedy companies trying to make as much money with the least effort. so when they continue doing this people will treat their product not as art anymore, and from every product you expect a functionality after paying money for it. there is no excuse for a broken tv, not that the tech is complicated nor that its from just a little company or former products of them were great, a broken tv is a broken tv and devs will have a hard time when people recognize their games are not art anymore but a product to make money, the equivalent of a tv.

but so many developers and publishers have lost connection to reality and they will learn it the hard way when the game industry crashes again (but looking at witcher 3 and star citizen hype, early access scams, preordering madness,............it will take a long time because the customers are so stupid)

With EA, I can see how this will go (I hope I'm wrong, but by past experiences with EA).  They will patch just enough to shut people up.  The game will never truly be fixed.  The console people will most likely be fine.  But those of us on PC will not be and eventually (within the next six months) support will stop.  EA has our money.  They lied to us, got us to buy the game and then turned their backs on the customers because EA appeased the Shareholders, got their award and are grinning out the side of their mouths.

I will be surprised (or maybe I won't be) if a class action lawsuit isn't brought up against Electronic Arts for deceptive marketing and pulling a bait and switch.  They actually run hand in hand in this case.  They claim:  "A PC Game made by PC Gamers."  But in truth, it is not a PC game at all, and as everyone has pointed out, a very very poorly optimized Console port, meaning they had no intention of supporting the PC end of it or giving the PC end user very minimal support.  The claim their product does one thing, when in fact, for many of us, it doesn't do that.  Many of us can't play the game on PC because of how the patches have either made things worse, or broken the game all together.

Just my 2 cents though.

Nope... not this unstable game!

Never seen a game bring the CPU temp up like this un-clocked. :-/

And the key thing to understand is that it doesn't bother Bioware that much since most of their revenue is from consoles.

Look the have started patching and have acknowledged the problem. Getting down right abusive is not going to help. In the end if you feel disappointed do not buy their future products. Hurling insults is only going to make them ignore this thread and make you angry. Treat it like a business transaction and if not satisfied do not do business in future, so chill.

Me personally im indifferent and now will be wary of future transactions with them. But getting angry is just gonna ruin my day and i rather not do that.

You know they could still be honest about the game being "By PC gamers for PC gamers." If they mean "Fixed by PC gamers for PC gamers." Given the fact that the moders are the ones who created modding tools and had a working walk toggle long before patch 3. Who knows, in the next few weeks the modding tools could advance to the point where people can create fan patches and we can completely ignore EA and Bioware. Hell, at this point I'm all for it.

I'm not disagreeing with you, Zeyph.  But these people, like you and I, spent their hard earned money on a product that was SUPPOSED to work.  Now you, me, any common person don't have that privileged information to know if the game is working like it should before we bought it.  Yes, there was previews, reviews, etc.  And it all LOOKED great.  So we all expected the game to be just that, great.  Well...maybe we should have had foresight.  Maybe we had hope things would turn around.  I can't blame these people for being so upset and angry that they do vent their anger and frustration.  Where else will the developers see this?  Now will the developer's act on it and correct things/fix things?  That's an answer only the developers can provide.  Future sight is great but unreliable, but hindsight is always 20/20.   I'm not saying they should hurl insults, but venting frustration/displeasure, where else are they gonna go?

And it's that last part that will sink them.  It won't ruin our day.  I've worked in Customer Service my entire working life.  That's nearly 20 years.  When faced with an angry customer, the LAST thing you want to do is ignore them.  Their complaint may be legitimate, it may not be. Maybe the person's right, maybe their wrong.  But the WORST and LAST thing you do is ignore a paying and upset/angry customer.  There's a way to handle them to help bring them down some levels.  But ignoring them will ruin EA's day.  One upset customer tells, ten.  Ten tells a hundred, a hundred tells a thousand and the dominoes all fall.
