I put the first two Witcher games on my wishlist because of all the recommendations it's getting from you guys.  Never played them before.  I guess I'll have to lock the kids out, though.

The Witcher 1 is a very long experience todays youth may not appreciate.. Witcher 2 is a very differnt game type from 1.. I enjoyed Both, but only played 1 once.. 2 ive enjoyed many times over, and even purchased it twice.. Console, and PC.. Ive only purchased a game twice, 3 times in my life.. TW2, DA:O, and Skyrim..

While CDProjektRed is one of the best companies in the industry, i simply cannot/will not pre-order ANYTHING in the gaming industry... Its a trend i would like to see stopped, as it encourages laziness! Set by the companies you least trust anyway, along with the online passes, and dlc thats now the norm today.. (ofcourse online passes stopped when they thought xb1 was gonna have certain restricitons). But EA>Ubisoft are to blame for these shitty practices.. Giving a company your money before knowign the product only tells them youre gullible, and willing to bu anything they throw at you.. Ill by TW3 on release day, but no company deserves that kind of trust/commitment/investment!

Id like to make clear, CDProjektRed is the company i tout as the gaming industry's best.. They deserve all acolades and fan support... I just do not endorse the "pre-order" model..

You know, it was common wisdom in my family for years not to purchase a game until the prices have gone down and its been, like maybe a year. And by years I mean, maybe a year or two after the Xbox 360 came out.

I let my impatience win this time. Never again.

I've played TW1 and 2, oh i've lost count of times, with and without the combat rebalance mods, and playing currently TW2 on 360 (it was dead cheap/now free for Gold).

When they came out, there were a bugs yes, but they responded quickly to fix them, and even included a combat tutorial section which wasn't really there before. Yes, in TW2 they did initially dump you in and leave you to die discover the combat. But, the key was the fast response to complaints, and while you could see where it was a console port on pc, it wasn't a shoddy port. I actually prefer the keyboard interface for tw2 to the controller one, but alas cannot play it with keyboard on the 360.

On generosity side, the amount of free DLC they throw at you, and that you got a stupid amount off your pre-order from gog, if you could prove ownership of 1+2, made it a instant pre-order for me. And I pre-ordered an Xbox one edition, because I want a big-ass statue or Geralt fighting a griffon. And a medallion.

TW1: not for impatient people, or those who value fast combat, I don't think. And deffo not for button mashing, as you will die.

Forget the mouse, what you need to send is a severed horse head at this point.

I will say this about CDProjekt/Red.  They have earned my respect.  But not because their games are good (which they are VERY good).  But they earned my respect because of the following:

When the Witcher 2 was released, there were issues, many from what I remember.  And the Third Act had alot of plot loopholes.  Now, CDProjekt did not have to do this, but they turned to their customers and said:  Give us a list of what you are finding that's bugged/broken/wrong.  We'll look into it and keep you updated.  The community did.  If I remember correctly, there were PAGES and PAGES of issues.  CDProjekt thanked the community and then went silent for almost six months.  Small minor fixes here and there.  Then one day, they sent out a letter to their customers in essence saying:  We're sorry for all the issues and for our silence.  But what we have for you is massive.  Here.  Here is a 10.9 GB PATCH!  It fixes most if not all of the issues and now the Third Act should make ALOT more sense.  This patch from us to you is COMPLETELY FREE.  Our way of saying thank you to you, our customers for your patience.  Again, we are sorry for the issues you experienced.

The Witcher community LAUDED CDProjekt for what they did.  Heaped praises on them.  And THAT is the epitome of not ok, not just good, but GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.  And they didn't belittle their customers.  They THANKED THEM.  That is how you treat your paying customers.  That is what gets you respect.  That is why I will throw my money at CDProjekt/Red.  Because they have EARNED those from me.  And because they have proven they are that good, I will support them until they prove me otherwise.  Take a god damn lesson Bioware.  A good god damn lesson.

From what I can see, the game is beautiful.  But I can't play it, and I have tried repeatedly since I downloaded it in November.  I have a PC, have been gaming for 30 plus years, and I just cannot get the gameplay figured out as it is set up for PC.  I do not use a game controller, (they make me a nervous wreck) and at 68, don't think I will try to learn.    I've played 700+ hours of Dragon Age Origin, love the game, tried out all types of characters, and still enjoy exploring Thedas.  Have over 200 hours on DA2, not as good a game, but still a lot of fun.  That being said, please get the Mouse control working so this senior citizen can play!

Cyan Griffonclaw
The 1% must keep making money and get their large bonus at the end of the year
And they do that on the back of us the consumers in this game for sure :-)

Oh, come on! Don't you feel any sympathy for these poor folk? I mean, they really DO need that second private island! I mean, think of all the party guests! They won't fit on one island, where will they put them all!?!?

I hope they do tweak it so you can enjoy this. I have a friend who does not have a use of her left arm so she can't play this at all.

I dont think it was a console port, as it wasnt introduced on the xbox until the enhanced edition.. The game was out for PC for awhile prior

You do realize the top 1% in America pay more than 38% of the taxes in the US, yes? The bottom 5% pay less than 2%

TW isnt as graphic as TW2, but yeh its not for kids ears if they are rug rats.

The only issue i had with tw2 was that i left a craving, it was really good, but left me wanting for more.

TW2, while it originally only got released for the PC, clearly felt a bit off. I still can't completely pinpoint why, but the game - while it was very good and beautifull - felt a bit 'consolified'.

As for that 1% discussion - the top 1% in every country tries to dodge the tax while ruining a lot through buying influence. In the US it is most worse. I can't recall which billionaire said so, but a few of them publically feel ashamed that they can (and some do of those group too) pay less tax % then their employees due to tax evasion, tax cuts etc. Some are even close to paying less then 5% tax due to this, while some of those lesser ashamed hold an mindset regarding employees which can be called morally repugnant at best, and criminal at worst. But this is offtopic.

Re the patch etc - I've got the feeling at this point there's more chance to swim across the Channel to the UK without help then seeing the PC-specific problems and the bad communication fixed in the near future by Bioware (urgh, I read the DAI MP communication complaint topic. That reaction from someone from Bioware... ugh.)

Please don't pre-order more games, guys. They get your money before the game is finished and polished, and they release a broken game, because they already got your money, so why should they care.

Clearly and completely avoiding the "percentage of wealth" conversation, which would clearly turn this upside down.

My bad: just remembered someone saying it felt like one, and I was too busy with Triss to fully pay attention who else got it at the same time.

On paper yes. But in practice not so much. Between tax write off's, tax breaks, off shore bank accounts, tax incentives and alike, most end up paying a lot less than they should in their income bracket.
