It really sucks to hate the franchise you loved very dearly. I have spent a lot of time on Origins and Skyrim and I still treasure it as the best gaming experience I have ever had. After DA:II's huge let down, I still had hope. The lore and the music kept me going. I hoped that Bioware would learn a lesson and get back to it's roots. I hoped DA:I would be going back to those roots. Instead, I got an extremely obvious console port with blatant lies "PC game for PC gamers" thrown at my face.
This game is so hollow. While playing DA:O, I felt immersed in Thedas. I felt like I wanted to keep exploring on and on endlessly. In DA:I, I didn't feel the same. The main quest is rather short and cliched. The side quests are soulless. The build up and the atmosphere is weak and boring. Don't even get me on the tactical mode. I still do not know it's true purpose..or does it even have any purpose? Even on consoles. It's simply button mashing like the shooters. I am into RPGs because they require thinking, not casual gaming.
I loved DA:O for what it was, one of the greatest rpgs ever created. Sadly, I won't feel the same for DA:I. And really, this game is no where near the level of Skyrim even after 4 years. Bioware tried to go Skyrim but failed at it. This franchise has really lost it's identity. The reason why it was so unique. Yes I loved Skyrim because it was unique in it's own way. But in no way I wanted DA:O to go Skyrim ways.
After reading BWAmelia's post yesterday, I have no hope left for the franchise anymore, since the company now blames us for being rude while being completely ignorant of the condition of it's PC version. We pay you to play your games and not the opposite. I'll be moving on from this game soon enough. It is really sad that Bioware, who got to this point because of the PC games they made, is going console ways due to EA.
Hopefully, Bethesda sticks to it's roots with TES: VI when they develop it, if they develop it. For now, I have high hopes for Witcher 3.
