I'm a disabled gamer. I've played about 29 hours (mostly sp). It's painful (literally) and exhausting to play. 1-2 hours a day once or twice a week with 10-15 minutes to rest now and then. I understand as my condition deteriorates I've lost the ability to play fighting games, most 3rd person and fps. It's sad to lose your mobility and having to go from active to mostly passive player. I use as much software and technical help as I can but it's infuriating when a game could be made inclusive and they don't. I don't think they didn't care, they probably didn't think about it. Now once you tell them about it and how it could be better it's in their hands to fix it. I always approve of Bioware caring for the LGBT collective but seeing them not caring the same way for disabled people is very unfair. I hope they understand how bad this is for us not only as gamers but as people. And on a sidenote it's a very bad PR move.
I've got a gamer friend who plays one-handed and another who's deaf.
Over the years with various games, I've seen a complete disregard or lack of support for disabled players- and it's simply unacceptable IMO. In development there should be a lot of "basic" questions asked regarding accessibility when it comes to a plan for UI and controls. It would appear that with the decision to dumb down interfaces and consolize the controls, the fundamentals have been completely overlooked. That said, I completely concur with the opinions of those who relate such as being just as important as glaring issues like CTD and others. For physically challenged players, it becomes obvious and difficult- and most frustrating.
Oh, and if you "question" just how difficult it is- try playing the game with just your left or right hand with an Xbox controller. Let's see how YOU fare.
