From Nvidia Patch notes for Driver 347.25

Windows Vista/Windows 7 64-bit Issues
- Single GPU Issues
         - Dragon Age Inquisition runs poorly (stutters) on NVIDIA hardware. [1588023]

This is still listed as an Open Issue in Driver Version 347.25 for GeForce GPU's. So my question is. Are those that are experiencing performance issues (crashes, stutters etc) still upgrading to the latest Driver? Or are they staying on older versions, Pre-DAI release (v344.65)?

What runs better for you?

It has to be Win/7 and Vista specific. I have 347.25 and, no stuttering or anything under Win 8.1. I'd suggest staying with older driver or, rolling back if you are on Vista or 7.

It doesn't really matter for me specifically anyway since I can't play the game for longer than 5 minutes without the display drivers crashing.

Gundar3 - I've had a few posts deleted just because...and also they won't allow me to post pictures or a new thread.  Guess why?  I can't know... I appreciate a thicker skin with a rhino, but not on my date. She seemed nice, but her horn turned me.  Oh that was her nose?.

Most people's anger in this forum is quite justified though I do understand no Dev or CSM would want to participate in a flame thread that attacks their every statement. However , the video game industry should not be exempt from corporate liability.

If you take someones money for a product and that product is horribly flawed, expect some angry people, that's only logical. Expect people to become ever more angry when it appears as though you are ignoring their concerns especially in a thread designed to address said concerns.

We just want what we paid for. $80 I gave you for a game I cant play and have no idea if ill ever be able to play because of the lack of communication. So in essence, it makes one feel like you ( EA / BW ) stole their money which can and will only result in peoples anger. Its hard to stay tactful when you feel like your being ignored. It hard to stay tactful when you see EA / BW net income for 2014 @ over $140 million and yet there was no room in the budget to properly test the game and patches before they are made live or even fix the broken product in a timely fashion.

We just want a game that works or our money back

A product that isn't defective or a refund

Its so simple really

I didn't know what I was saying also, Gunder.  I was sick of being marginalized and censored really.  So I was just being an ass and making up words....because that's what apathy will make you do.  Perhaps your game is going along swimmingly, but mine WON'T.

GMP - They have lost millions.  This game didn't gross that well...and the negative feedback from REAL PLAYERS is hurting their bottomline.  This game will be a dud moneywise.

ALL of the "awards" have been bought.  Trust me.   It was a weak year for (video) games in general, but the $$$ went into lining people's pockets and not into the game.

I think we need to have stronger Moderators. They just sit there invisible and act like wusses. If Alan makes a post and gets flamed, that hurts us all. Moderators should be real time, not after the fact. Insist on posters being polite. Stop the post if it breaks the rules, we have the ability to do this. Block the post until the poster will abide by the rules, simple. But tell him why it is blocked!! We complain why Bioware doesn't show its face here, make it safe to do so, then jump on them if they disappear again. Should be able to be the safest place on the net if it is policed properly. No tranquilisation!!

You're assuming EA/Bioware cares. After all this silence... come on, man. It's a different regime now. They call it the way they want to see it regardless of how the PC community wants or desires. We're not important to them anymore. We just had a break up. "I get it... it's me, not you." For Maker's sake! The community had a fix for the tactical camera and walking well before they got the walk toggle fixed. The only fix in my opinion, because now I have little or no banter, CTDs at every opportunity and mechanics that kill whatever storytelling this game had. I missed 70% of the banter on my first playthrough... how ridiculous. Now I am missing it all, except ambient talking, in the Hinterlands.

Go for the eyes, Boo! GO FOR THE EYES!!! RAWRUSK!!!

Well unfortunately, this absolute disaster has been Bio Wares most successful  launch ( based on unit sales) ever - Its easy to find the sources ( http://www.pcgamer.c...bioware-history)  they have made serious bank off of DA:I. More so considering they didn't even have to finish the product before they released it.

Yet we still can't get any answers

Funny thing is, Diablo III  has a stunning sales record, too. It took almost one and a half year to make the game as what it should have been at launch. Did I mention, they changed the Game Director and that's why everything is better now?

Oh Maker. I am hoisting the white flag. I finally get through a portion of the Hinterlands and hear Solas, Varric and Cassandra all talking, but as soon as combat starts a CTD. It's F5 that I'm spamming now. I'm done. I'll be back when the game is ready for release.

Good post btw.

they probably shelved the mmo option after seeing how badly Teso ended up. But then that doesn't excuse how bad dai is :P

@Shelled @Lannes1789

I agree with your posts and am so glad that I'm not alone in how I feel about the potential move of the DA franchise into an MMORPG setting.

 -------------

Big Snip

Sorry to rain on your parade about MMOs but look

here: http://www.wired.com....-of-mmo-games/

Here is a precis of the article:

1. Today's cost is massive vs say WoW when it started (ie: EA spent $250 million on Star Wars)

2. A subscription model requires new content on a monthly, bi-monthly basis or having burned through the

initial content and finding nothing new they will leave. Providing new content is unsustainable.

3. Financial risk (see 1.)

More than likely, however, is the SP+MP model. The initial DAI MP game may be a cash cow, but unless new content = $revenue is > than $cost of new content + servers costs + maintenance costs then it's doomed to fail.

I see DAI MP as an experiment which is a fail for the old gen consoles. The Frostbite 3 engine is just too demanding, has yet to mature and be properly optimized.

I'm hoping that Bio will look into future VR games (see: http://www.wired.com...osoft-hands-on/) or at least start expanding to include head movement tracking. Elite: Dangerous already supports this and is looking good.

Sounds like Nvidia users are finally getting a taste of what it's like for AMD users trying to play a game made by a Dev that's "hopped into bed" with Nvidia's "Gameworks" foreplay I shouldn't laugh but I just cant help it oh ying and yang I love you !

I feel it's worth mentioning: SWTOR pulled itself out of a nose dive with the hybrid model, the cash shop (of cosmetics mostly) seems extremely successful, and they've slowly been increasing the quality of new content coming out.  Compare Galactic Starfighter, which was poorly implemented and kind of bare, to the latest Revan expac which has included not just "more things to do please don't leave" but a revamping of some boring systems and fun stuff besides.

ESO has gone hybrid model as well, and it's generally thought amongst industry commentators - predicted by many, really, myself among them - that going hybrid after a year or so was the plan all along.  It's likely to be the most (only?) successful model for any MMO, for the forseeable future.

The SWTOR Collector's Edition is what cured me of CEs.  Haven't bought one since.  I waited until after launch to get this (fortunately, as a present...), but stupidly didn't come here to check things out first, and upgraded to the Deluxe edition without checking it out first (All three variants of Armor of the Dragon being the same bulky trenchcoat really honked me off), so now I'm cured of "deluxe" editions as well.  Both actions taking by BWEA.

But SWTOR is slowly getting fixed, and I while there's no way to be sure, I think it's gone from a write-off in the eyes of EA to something they're planning on keeping long-term and reinvesting in for growth.  I also think the Bioware blog regarding this game, giving a vague outline of their post-launch plans, is also a good sign on balance.

The only thing that will ever fix this "release broken nonsense, fix later after huge cash boost" is us.  Stop pre-ordering.  Stop flocking to a new thing at launch until you research it.  Stop buying add-ons, Day 1 DLC, and MP packs.  Then and only then will the industry shift back towards releasing things that are ready for release.

Side note:  Blizzard's disaster of a Diablo launch was the rare exception for them.  They usually don't release something nowadays until it stands up to some scrutiny.  They're even willing to wait a full two years between expacs for WoW, even though it bleeds away millions of subscribers, before they're happy with launching it.  And that's part of the reason why millions come back when the expac appeals and has a good rep.

They have the highest active sub count they've had in years, right now, once again exceeding 10 million.

EA wanted to emulate WoW's success with SWTOR, but chose to ignore the why behind its success, and focused only on aping its form.  They told themselves slapping "Star Wars" on something guaranteed success.  (On a less sinister note, the Bioware MMO team were noobs and, while enthusiastic, made some noob mistakes making the game, which EA launch mandate once again made worse.  They've gotten far better at it over the last three years, and I think if they'd had a little more time with the game - time to really look at the Beta feedback - they could have corrected a lot before launch).

Given all of the above, I think a DA MMO is not off the table.  A year ago it would have been.  Having resurrected SWTOR, EA may feel confident they could pull off another MMO.  I don't see it happening any time soon, however.

Sad to say AMD users are having some issues as well.  We get the flickering and the weird opaque fog sprites, as well as stuttering and performance issues.  Mantle is also kind of a sad joke.  There's been no driver release since Omega on 12/9; not even a new beta.

From Allen Schumaker in the Multiplayer thread.  I'm not taking sides but please do read this carefully.

<SNIP - carefully worded PR nonsense>

Allen apparently made a post earlier somewhere and it got a little confusing.  Needless to say, I've read this a couple of times to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding it.  But it SEEMS he's acknowleging issues on both sides.  This, is a good first step.  Still a long way to go, but still.  It's a start somewhere.

“Seems,” madam? Nay, it is. I know not “seems.”
'Tis not alone my inky cloak, good mother,
Nor customary suits of solemn black,
Nor windy suspiration of forced breath,
No, nor the fruitful river in the eye,
Nor the dejected 'havior of the visage,
Together with all forms, moods, shapes of grief,
That can denote me truly. These indeed “seem,”
For they are actions that a man might play.
But I have that within which passeth show,
These but the trappings and the suits of woe."

So, technically, everything wrong with this place - and game - is still our fault and will be fixed if only we were more like adults and less like little children?  Couldn't really see any actual message there through all the heavy condescension, Allan.  The devs need a 'safe place' to lay down their pronouncements and receive their toadying?  By all means.  Don't screw on some balls and actually address the legitimate problems with your fecking 'masterpiece'.  Just create your safe little tower and wave airly at the scum as they rant by, eh?

Fabulous.

Until those who have been waiting since launch and still can't play your stinking grindfest come crawling and begging in the most humble terms in your sanctioned spaces you won't even hear them?  Should we be surprised the only communication comes in the hopefully cash-cow portion of the forum, deep down in Multiplayer?

Yeah.  Sure.  Not really.

This is 'moving forward', is it?  One guy damns us with faint praise - while still blaming us for pretty much everything - the next one warns us to be good little peons and Amelia dances. So the toxes are so grateful for any words from heaven they clap and gambol with gratitude.  Maybe I should just start calling them 'Igors'?  "Yesh, Mashter!  Thank you for the spittle, Mashter!  You are sho good to me, Mashter! Eventually you will shuckseed, Mashter!" Shuffle, shuffle...

Feh.

Talking isn't doing.  Until they do something - like fix the billion damn (and the twenty or so actual gamebreaking ones) bugs in SP (you remember single player, right, guys?  Or did you spend four years on MP?)  - whatever they yap is meaningless.  By all means, stroke the MP-ers. You were going to anyway, so this is no surprise.  Some of us know spin when we see it, the lame damage control mandated now by the devs' overlords in marketing because the toxic fumes are starting to rise where they can be got a goodly whiff of - and the specter of Mass Effect will start jabbing with those painful reminders.  We may be ignorant children, but some of us don't forget when we get scorched.

So, kudos for showing up three months later. In the Multiplayer forums. It's warnings and stick-waving and 'golly gee, but if you weren't so mean we might be friends!', but hey, while it's a limited form of conditional engagement with many provisos, at least it's engagement.  It's the cop pulling his gun at a traffic stop, but he's still engaging with the public, isn't he?  The politicos stuff y'all into 'free speech zones', but they are engaging.

Be grateful.  Be very grateful.
