Im pretty sure we are all talking here for nothing ... no one is giving any kind of importance ...

but

i must share this with bioware ...

Today you miss the most important client you will ever have. My son. He is seven and was exultant with DA:I ... He created no less than 20 characters, spent his precious vacation time trying to play your game. His enthusiasm was amazing. His eyes shone every moment he encountered something new, you know that kids glare in the eyes? yep ... something you spent lots of money to find ...well, he had it ...

He was complaining he could not play with warriors (his favorite class), he was complaining he could not move himself better using keyboard and mouse. Sometimes after two or three hours playing he comes to me with some pain in his wrists ... you know he fought very hard against the incompetence of bioware in delivering a friendly interface ...

he was complaining the game was crashing in the wicked eyes mission ... he became very sad about that ...

but the point is he was going forward ... day after day he was asking to play.

today he asked to me if he could play "the computer". As always, since he had finished all his duties i gave him permission to use the computer ... and he starts to play Skyrim ... after three months ...

When I asked him why, he told me the game was broken and he couldnt play anymore.

the eyes shine had faded,

you lost the momentum bioware ...

you lost a little guy ...

I dont know if you still remember ... but playing games is about that eyes glare ... its magical ... he couldnt even feel the pain on the wrist ...

thats why I spent my money,

you have lost it.

congrats.

Everything here looks good...

Except for the rocket high-heels.  As many on these forums could tell you, "heels" on a womyn is a symbol of the oppression faced and enforced everyday by the patriarchy.  You see, if a womyn is "attractive", she is being objectified and we must be swift to remedy that.  EA is an industry leader in dispelling the notion of gender differences.  I for one, welcome the forced dispelling of my internalized mysogyny, that taints the very core us all...

I look forward to the next Mass Effect Bioware adventure.  All the fun of an mmo, but by yourself!  With wide open worlds to explore; and skins, items, weapons, mounts, anything you can imagine!!...  For 9.99 a piece.

You gave me a dream that was the next game.  Thank you.

Did anyone mention co-operative multiplayer with ME4?

If it does come out on the PC platform, I will wait until it's on sale and after I read the Forums!!

No point in waiting. This game is made out of cardboard. Just played as a Qunari mage. Part way through. Dialogue is identical up to Skyhold. Couldn't be bothered going any further. Qun vs Andraste doesn't show up, no thought went into this aspect. Seems to be added as an afterthought to keep the fans hoping.

Very shallow game as far as I am concerned. Survive all the crashes and glitches, crap UI and what have you left? Very little. Very disappointed. I have modded it as far as I can. I have CE involved but it is not memorable.

Hmm... so much for replay value.

Did you have a different world state?

When I heard from the people playing as a Qunari Inquisitor that the changes are only cosmetic, dialogues and war table events are not offering any changes at all; I stopped playing with my freshborn Qunari Inq. It's just meaningless... Maybe a future DLC will bring some more details but still, it's not acceptable.

I posted here since it was recommended (the MP version of the thread anyway) by Allan.

http://forum.bioware.../#entry18526642

Dead thread.

However Allan did mention he's bringing up singleplayer soon but I'm not sure if he can produce any results as from looks of things the singleplayer devs have been relocated to different projects (including Allan), and team that seems to be left are all multiplayer.

At least communication is re-established - if only on multiplayer.

I'm surprised you guys haven't given up yet.

OK, first of all, DAI has a mature rating of 17+, in case you failed to notice. And you let your 7 year old child play it? Awesome parenting there!

Secondly, it would be quite arrogant to imagine that your child (which is not at all the targeted audience) is Bioware's most important client. This is simply not the case - sorry to burst your bubble.

EA/Bioware runs a business - it is about NUMBERS, nothing else. You bought the game. They win.

You are absolutely delusional if you think this little attempt at emotional manipulation (using your child, which is quite disgusting, really) is going to have people at Bioware throw their hands in their air, crying about losing "their most important client".

Your child should be playing outside, strengthening his bones and muscles, soaking up essential sunlight so his body can synthesize essential vitamin D, critical to his long term health!

Honestly, what world do you live in? My advice to you: Wake up.

Well well....it might be speculation, but I would not at all be surprised if they moved on to other projects whilst making a feeble attempt at keeping the MP garbage alive.

Bioware has quite thoroughly lost the plot, haven't they!

Congratulations, EA!

Crap game experiment

Ok started a little experiment. I really dont like the Inquisition experience at all, but since i paid for it, im trying to play it, mostly for the sake of knowing better.

Im somewhat adapted to the poor controls now.

One thing that helped me so far is that im comming back without any expectation, at all. Im just using it for the sake of using, no expectations, it easies the feel.

Issues so Far

1 - On the "tutorial" so far, its really hard to play properly on the "rift closing" area; usually the icon to interact with the disrupt fade is out of screen, i try to zoom out, it goes to the tactical screen, but it dont help because the maxed zoom out is to near, i cant get near the fade. Also the demon is too big i have dificulties trying to issue commands.

2 - The tactical view isnt ideal, but at least i managed to issue commands. The great deal of issues that i found on the tactical view is that it is so much near; when you keep zooming out it forces a top down view, but its so near it dont help at all. Also the constant tilting when you try to zoom make it difficult to control.

3 - The need to constantly use the right mouse button to camera look is dull, but i accepted it. The problem is the right mouse button is also the interact button, and usually is very hard to interact with objects like the loots. If when you clicked the right button on a near action, like a loot or rift, the character did walk to the object it would be much more easier. The way it is you need to be moving constantly to find the "right spot" to click on the object. Or at least make the clickable range bigger.

Other throughs

1 - Despite not having "click to move", its possible to issue click to move if you are on tactical view; so it seen the pathfinding is working properly, it would not be hard to implement a click to move.

2 - Despite not having "auto attack" if you hold mouse or attack button it keep attacking. It would be extremely easy to set this. Both this and 1 could be set as an option on the menu, so they could keep current controls and allow a new set.

3 - Considering attacks and move, it would be optimal if auto attack happened on left click, and also the option to click to interact on the left button, it makes much more sense. The right could be use to move or even only to mouse look.

Okay people, if anyone is reading part II

BTW specs

i7 4790K @ 4.4 - GTX MSI 980 OC - 16GB DDR3 2133 - Creative Soundlaster Z

Started to play around the chantry the player starts. Some walk, fighting minor critters. At least the game didnt crashed.

The awful close zoom bothers me, looking for info or mod, so i found a completely done profile for cheatengine. OK, downloaded, literally set up with profile and game under 5 minutes and unlimited zoom! And the fix works perfectly.

This points me the question why they made the zoom so near? Was performance? Or any bug? One thing i noticed when i zoom out levels 20+ there is some tilting on camera if i go to an angle that is in conflict with occlusion but its not a problem at all; just for the sake of comparison, i was talking to Cassandra near the chantry and the default camera puts a training dummy blocking all the vision; i mean this kind of issue probably is not what was weight when far zoom was prohibited on vanilla game.

Other through about far zoom: even with far zoom tactical camera reverts to the top down view. At least i can force a big default size for tactical camera zoom.

When you zoom out 30+ levels, there is some light errors, but its not supposed to go that far. Summing it all: the engine manage it very well, no performance drop, do critical glitches nothing, a mere desk decision defined it as prohibited.

OK going now to the hinterlands, the first thing i notice is a massive frame drop at entrance. Dont know why. It seen to stabilize after, and it stays good even with unlimited zoom.

Don't know where else to post it, anyone knows where I can find a decent program that tracks GPU cload, CPU load, FPS etc. in-game? I want to run a few tests.

Because the development cycle for Patch 3 fell over the holiday period, our priority focus for this patch were items that blocked progress (like key drop or Dorian's quest) and other bug fixes. It's important for us that our devs have time at the holidays to spend with their loved ones and families, and after a long production cycle, this was some well deserved time off.
We are still working on future items and improvements for later patches based on the feedback we have received here and elsewhere. I can't give you any specifics as of yet, but as Scylla said, improving PC mouse and keyboard controls is still a priority for us. The fact that we weren't able to get it into patch 3 doesn't change that priority, as not at bugs and features are created (or solved) equal.
I can't provide further updates until after Patch 3 is out, but I will give more info once it's possible to do so.

Does it make sense to release a game before the holidays if its not done yet? The excuse for the patches breaking things and being slow because of the holidays isn't really that great of an excuse when you think about it.

I'm just saying.

Clearly, you do not have children.  That said, i beleive young ones were indeed their target audience! Hence the oversimplified... Well, everything!

And the silly rating system is a joke. Our children see and hear far worse on public tv, an at school.. "Wake up".

To call the man a bad parent? You get points for being an ***hole, grats! Perhaps you hadnt noiced, but in many areas, its about 10* outside, not counting real feel...

I can certainly sympathize with you, and the crappy feeling of seeing your child disappointed over receiving a crappy item they really wanted... I have four myself...Hope he finds something better too play, until spring, or a usable snow day   :)

I'm proud of the game. Is it my perfect game? Probably not. But it's the first Dragon Age game I played after release.  There's a mix because I still have to recognize that "the perfect game for Allan" may not be a viable product, but I think there's a wide range of audiences and interest out there.

I really enjoyed the fascinating post mortem Polygon had with Jake Solomon (and Sid Meier) after XCOM was released  :)

This was posted in a different thread.

Allan Schumacher from what hes told us was specifically in charge of the QA (quality assurance) behind the tactical mode. Here he states that he never even played dragon age origins.

HurrjOo.jpg

So one of the biggest features in the game that origins fans specifically loved and have been looking forward to since origins, for dragon age inquisition (my personal reason for wanting to play inquisition WAS the comeback of the tactical mode itself), was Quality assured by a person that never even played origins.

giphy.gif

I don't blame Allan even though hes partially responsible here, clearly this is a massive management problem. Nobody asked the guy who was leading (or a part of?) the QA tactical mode team if they even played dragon age origins?

Wow.

He states that DA:I is the first he played "after release", meaning it is the first Dragon Age game that he played while not at work. It doesn't mean he didn't play Origins or DA2, he simply did not continue to play them after they were released.

or did he mean "directly after release"? Like he didn't play DAO until years later, after the initial hype & release?

I guess you could interpret that in a few different ways (What allan wrote) and I will acknowledge that. Either way it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this tac mode is a disaster for many different reasons, in many different ways.
