DRM
EA is responsible for DRM checking... meaning EA checks to see if your game is properly activated. By this I mean that the server runs a routine that verifies the info it has about your account and your game(s), the date and time it was activated, probably also a hardware ID vs what the game is sending to them. Uninstalling the game can remove your local "game ID information", which, for obvious reasons, won't match what's on file.
For example:
In my case I had to upgrade my system to run DAI. This meant changing my motherboard and CPU. What happened? Windows 7 no longer recognized my PC and I had to activate the OS again.
Hope this helped.
Thanks a lot, Sartoz, i was really lost in the fog about how a DRM works and pulling my brain out to understand what went wrong when i changed my MB (I had to downgrade it, lol, cause i had none and was pretty damn short on cash). My system recognized Windows (8.1) but yeah, the programs were all unstable, had to reinstall lots of things.
