Yeah, I even turn off Origin because I don't want anything at all to compete with Inquisition. I have 16GB of DDR3 RAM now and you would think there is plenty of RAM for other applications to run in the background, but HELL NO. If freakin' anything comes up as a scheduled task, like Windows Update, the game stutters to a crash. I want to rage at my rig, but this is the only game giving me grief. Maybe I'm having a stroke? WHAT THE HELL?!? Playthrough #2 is plagued with audio glitches and cutscene crashes again like Patch 3. We deserve some serious swag for this debacle. Seriously.

I tried blood magic. I sacrificed a chicken and performed a ritual after Patch 3 came out. Nothing works, but solid programming. I guess we're SOL.

Things should never be so bad you resort to blood magic. Shame, Griffonclaw, shame!

Uh.... Shale did it. Yeah.

I had 8 gb ram and never had the CTD problem except with the Solas sidequest. So, the CTD problems (and all the others TBH) are way too random. That freaking Frostbite engine must be a spider web to developers. MUST BE. Otherwise they don´t care about this at all. But i trust (yeah, imma naive jerk, prob) that they do care and are just struggling with the new engine.

Remember that scene in The lord of the rings: The two towers with the Rohirrim? Éomer says to Aragorn: "Do not trust to hope. It has forsaken this lands."

I´m gonna cry.

I'm not sure the issue is that DA:I doesn't like sharing RAM. I often have Open Office running alongside DA:I, as well as firefox or an image (especially when I'm trying to match a Hawke). I cannot, however run, say, the Steam or bnet apps, even given their low memory footprint (especially in comparison to Origin, that uses double the memory of both of these, even when idling and offline). My RAM usage never fills--and a "full" RAM has not been involved in any of my CTD events.

It's Origin and actual CPU processes (like updates) that the game doesn't like. Origin, in particular. I can say with confidence that 80% of my "random" CTDs have had the Origin app involved--it "usage spikes" almost every time. The rest of the CTDs coincide with the "Milestone" save as I enter the War Room (Haven or Skyhold) and/or loading pots at camp--and some of those also have Origin involved so I thought (as I mentioned up the thread) that the pot-related CTDs were just coincidences, until they started to happen often enough--even w/o origin involvement--that I thought, "oh, maybe not".

It makes me think that it's EA's crappy "we know you didn't steal this but we need to punish everyone for the few that do by checking every few milliseconds that you're still not a thief.... still not a thief.... still not?.... okay... still not...." processes and/or something inherent within the Frostbite engine that is the issue.

I am positive that if I was (without using an illegitimate process) allowed to turn off Origin once the game has loaded that a fair majority of my CTDs wouldn't happen.

Remember when we could boot up our games and then remove the disks so they wouldn't get heated/scratched or whatnot and keep playing the game? I miss that.

The only way to play Inquisition without raging or hating on Bioware.

Enjoy. Yeah, you get to see what you missed out on.

I find incredibly ironic and truly unbelievable that a game SOLD on ORIGIN cant have ORIGIN running or else it crashes constantly. Really BW/EA?

Anyone else recently get the Origin survey? It asks " How likely are you to recommend ORIGIN to a friend?" Bahahahahahahahahahahahhaha! Easiest survey EVER!

Another thing that baffles me is the amount of awards this game keeps winning! A game that doesn't work correctly cant even be considered as a potential candidate for game of the year!

There are so many people like me out there that  see the all awards and think "Well this game must not only run well , but be really an incredible experience"  BUY IT and REGRET IT when they start to see flicker textures in the distance, blinding white fog and spending most of their first 5 hours - 2 days getting the game to actually run at a REAL 60fps ( dispite what the in game fps counter tells ya, once again undoubtabley to trick people into thinking it WAS INDEED running at 60fps) . Funny how the white fog isn't in the very beginning of the game, but makes it appearance in the Wild after you've played for a few hours, maybe to get ya past that initial refund request time. I really wouldn't put a dirty little trick like that  past them especially if you consider the aforementioned falsifying 60fps in game frame counter "trick".

I think these giant video game tycoon companies think we the consumer are all stupid. They think they cant treat us like garbage and we come crawling back for their next release. I wont ever buy another BW / EA game again -  I hope you have all learned a valuable lesson with this game. I know I have.

So keep congratulating yourselves on all these awards! Maybe throw some more acknowledgements up on your store page but always Remember EA/BW-

AWARDS ARE MEANINGLESS

CUSTOMERS ARE EVERYTHING

Was thinking the same about the CPU. The game seems to be really CPU intensive. If it´s not the game, then is the punish... erm, DRM, that actually makes it CPU intensive. Like if it was multitasking to check all your process and see if you are not a dirty pirate. Look, i sent my MSConfig data to EA since my last problem (i wasn´t able to open the game cause for some reason was asking me for some validation code) and they pull out the subject that the problem was related to some VPN programs i had installed. THAT IS NOT PARANOIA, EA, NO. My system, Origin, all shiny and perfect, my dirty secret VPN program (wich i used to make a thingy work in my cellphone) was the problem. So yeah, DRM makes all your system go crazy to prevent you are not making something illegal. I made a mess of my point here, sry i´m sleepy.

You should try Outcome, for real. Is legal and it makes you play W/O the DRM on your back. Lots of people said that fixed the stuttering and CTD events. Not saying is a definitive solution, but maybe you wanna give it a shot. I did, the game runs better. A little improvement, at least.

Good old days

And did his warriors not go on

to ask Fionn what the saddest music is?

I catch an old-style sing-song from

my Alzheimer neighbour’s house.

She is home for Christmas,

her family have gathered in her name.

They chat about times past,

look back on her behalf to happy days.

Maybe Fionn’s response was, ‘The music

of yearning: that is the saddest music in the world.’

They press on with their reminiscing,

then launch into a further bygone number.

They do this in remembrance of her.

Not using Raptr, running game offline, using the AMD beta: occasional crash/hang up.

Set any graphics to medium or, god forbid, high - crash, crash, crash.

Sticking my head out of the foxhole for a minute!

Windows 8.1 8.0GB ram

i5-4670K@3.40GHz

RAID 5 Disk's

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680

As a system it's ok, but not mega by any means.

I have had so little trouble graphics wise. Couple of CTD's, but not re-creatable. Very random.

So for my point of view the game appears to work, the GUI is garbage though! I am not trying to minimise anyone's problems or bugs.

I admit I would have had the ban stick many times if I had half the issues you guys have had!

So it appears that the problem is not that well defined. My system is just in the recommended range. I can't afford SLI or i7 CPU.

I had an argument with a fellow programmer about Windows Update. I said that if there was a pending update it made my system do stupid things. He poo pooed it. Said I was crazy.

But it acts almost like a DRM. "I have this file to install! I will just keep checking with you every few milliseconds until you do what I want."

It made browsing the web prone to crashes, Origins went crazy, (DAO).

So I turn it off, Voila, No problem!

I too have experiences with random CTD's and even freezes during cut scenes. I didn't get these often, maybe once every few hours of solid game play and then just a sudden freeze during the cut scene or CTD.

I have the following:

- Win7 Ulitimate 64-bit (all windows updates to this day)

- i7 920 2.67 GHz (stock with extra cooling)

- 24GB DDR3 1600 (stock with extra cooling)

- Asus P6X58D Premium mobo (latest bios)

- Gigabyte GTX 670 3GB Windforce (stock and run cool)

- Samsung Syncmaster 27 inch LCD running 1080p

- Creative Labs X-Fi Titanium (latest drivers)

- WD Caviar Black 1 TB hd

I have an extra large tower with 5 120mm case fans (system runs cooler)

1000W PSU

NVidia 347.25 whql drivers clean install

I am thinking many more patches need to be released to address the CTD's and freezes.

- Could be a memory leak? DAI runs out of memory and CTD or freezes?

- Could be its not compatible with Win7 and only Win8?

Who knows at this point?

If it was an over heating GPU, most of my games would have freezes, CTD's and artifacts but surprise, all my games run at max everything and have no issues!!!

Threrefore, its the badly coded DAI game.

With the latest 347.25 whql drivers, DAI loads and saves much faster and gameplay is smoother and runs quicker too.

No audio issues at all.

No artifacts.

Nothing running in the background, or startup and I also disabled Cloud service and Origins in game too.

I have all the patches up to mini patch 4 installed and I also ran check for verify errors just to be sure.

I have defragged my hard drive.

I have run virus scanners and then turned them off when playing games.

I have run ccleaner.

I have nothning else running in the background and my system is tweaking for maximum performance with only gaming in mind.

Still random CTD and freeze every few hours or so.......badly coded game this DAI is.

I have all the latest games for the last few years on my hard drive and all at max video settings and they all run.......fine and even DAO......runs great. Go figure.

My nephew has an XBox 1 and a PS4. He has the XB1 version and he said the game ran fine. Never crashed. MP was fine except missing key drops. He loves it because it's perfect for the XBOX.

So, in all seriousness, does anyone else see grass on the roofs of the huts? Is that really intentional? I just can't wrap my head around that.

Maybe DAI was initially written for the XBox One and PS4 and made compatable for the PC later?

I run DAI with all video settings at their absolute max and it looks really good.

I see that! I think it was made that way. Quite common outside of US I think. A lot of mountain villages use turf for roofs.

You have to feed the goats! lmao

Yes, it's definitely a port. It reeks of being a port. Eight skill slots, joystick-friendly UI, button-mashing tactics and the fact that you couldn't walk until Patch 2. Seriously, this was released pretty much untested using M+KB controls. The tactical camera only works with a third-party program and sometimes it crashes. I have no idea why point-and-click is still not available in action mode since it's available in tac-cam mode. Whatever the reason is, it's bullcrap to say this was made for PC gamers. It's the fourth failure to launch on release for me since EA bought Bioware. Each title diminishes in content and choices. I'm not talking about huge, empty areas like the Hissing Wastes. I'm talking about toolsets, origin stories, tactics, replayability (I'm still muddling through a 2nd playthrough because of the CTDs) and game flow. I won't mention the story or companion aspect, but each title brings down my expectations from Bioware. My wallet is shut until DLC and new titles hit the bargain bin and maybe, just maybe then, I might buy it if it seems like it's been thoroughly patched.

My wallet is also shut now and I will wait and see......maybe I'll torrent their DA games from now on. Extremely easy to do.

Too many features were taken away with DA2 and then with DAI that older rpg's and even current ones have in them.

Simpler and more dumbed down is not the better way......for the long term.

Since I'm on the subject of DLC...

Is it confirmed that PC and PS4 users will have to wait an additional six months from the XBOX release?
