Am Techless, so I apologize beforehand if this is not helpful, but perhaps reducing Effects Quality to Low might be of help. Not certain if this works like the 'No Shiny Water' fixes of the past, or will stop crashes like reducing FX in DAO for Mana Clash, but I have had no CTD due to game issues of that I am aware; only those created by other system background software that activated when I was gaming.
Also, this reduces the flash and smoke of FX, I believe; allows for amore natural appearance, and increases FPS.

Ok, Ambient Occlusion. If I turn it off, the game runs fine until I hit a cutscene. I tried SSAO and the FPS went down. I tried HBAO and we're back in business. Lowered the effects quality to Medium from High and got a little boost to FPS. It's down to about 30 again, but I'm good again.

Right. This camels back ahs been broken. Bad enough that I've had tpo resprt to being a weirdo playing the game as a photoshoot sim with a spectacularly gorgeous quizzie... but now the bloody game is ruining his carefully crafted wardrobe! And of all things, his BOOTS!

Seriously though, now the saves are corrupting as we go along? Crafted armours no less? You can't even play the game ironically without it messing up. If I ever make it to endgame I'm expecting my quizzie's head atop Cory's body at this rate. Off to buy some more dragonling scales for a re craft I guess. Until something else breaks...

Cyan, try repairing the game via Origin. Mine went on a CTD binge over cutscenes Friday. Took 3 rounds of reboot, repair to change its mind but, still running CE and, all settings maxed. It quit it's hijinks finally. Don't know what got into it for a bit but, repair seems to have got it back to normal, after a few attempts.
Honestly, this thing is acting more and more like The Sims 3 and 4 by the day. I wish Twallan were still modding, he'd be able to find the causes and, fix this mess properly or, at the least tell EAWare what is going wrong and where to look to make it go right.

Repairing. This helped after Patch 3. Hoping it repairs again. F5 works great if you supplement with regular saves. I didn't do that.

New playthrough. 2.3 I think? I did all the proper sacrifices and followed the clean boot procedure. I repaired through Origin and turned off Origin overlay. Prayed. Put on my lucky sweatpants. Lit the mana bottle. Be back in one hour or less

You win hands down in the persistence department Cyan. I would have given up ages ago if I had your issues!
Oddly enough the first DX CTD I had (with error message anyway, I've had plenty of CTDs with no message at all) happened when I started back up after the latest patch. Haven't CTD'd since either. Banter has picked up a bit for me as well!
Perhaps it was the boot sacrifice?

MAKER! WE HAVE SOME SUCCESS!
1. Did a clean boot.
2. Repaired game through Origin client.
3. Set my graphics to High. Turned off AmbientOcclusion. Set Shadow Quality to HBAO.
4. Tested it under Benchmark and had on the average 30 fps.
5. Played game until awakened at Haven.
No crashes. The tactical camera still didn't go up high enough to be effective. I'm playing as a warrior and it's a chore trying to get the tactical camera to behave during the rift/pride demon battle. It's not intuitive for me. I end up going to action camera to hack and slash my way into victory. I won't rage quit at hard again. I can't even imagine what Nightmare is like. The game started to noticeably slow down near the one hour mark. I suspect it has a lot more to do with my rig than the actual game.
By the way, all of my previous CTDs didn't have an explanation. The game would stop and I'd end up at my desktop with a little box that said the program stopped working. I have never gotten a complete error like DirectX crashes.

Have you tried the CE tac cam mod? I'm playing it on casual just to see what happens story wise at this point (since I want to play DW anmd OMG! is the combat crap for that class- my rogue has turned to bow) so haven't bothered with it myself, but from all reports it's pretty good.

Hey, if guys like Sartoz and DarkAmaranth1966 are going to help, I'm going to back their efforts by trying. I'm persistent because I still love my Dragon Age franchise. I know I sound like a douchebag sometimes because I'm extremely frustrated and aggravated with how this whole thing is going down.

I'll go check it out that mod LunaFancy.
For me, I can't really remap my mouse. I have a five-button mouse (two extra buttons under the thumb) and I want to map to them so the Tac Cam isn't so backwards. I can't do that in-game. Also the tactical camera can be made to go really high and you can point and click move using a table from CheatEngine. It's just that using third-party programs like that cause Inquisition to slow down horribly over a short period of time (around 15-20 minutes). This is what's happening to me on my rig.

I'm running quite a few mods from nexus, I can't believe how fast those guys are. 
The cheat engine one isn't there though, there's a new table for it, and I saw a link somewhere...lemme look...
Here, in the modding thread. I haven't had any performance issues with CE in any of the playthroughs (partial though they've been) to date. But then I'm having no real performance issues with my rig (and I should think not since I spent $1400 on it specifically to run this game!) so YMMV.
I've been playing with a controller this whole time and it's still awfully clunky, just not as *headdesk* making as the Kb/M controls are. I'd much rather be Kb/M it tbh, just not with the contols as they are.

I don't use Mod Manager YET, not enough there that I can't do with CE, but CE is a must have. I refuse to let my brave Inquisitors trot around Skyhold in their skivvies, well real skivvies would have been better but.... Also I prefer 99% of the game in Nightmare mode but, the prolog rift is a bit much due to the lack luster tac cam, in nightmare so, I need God Mode on for that one, then the hack and slash to victory is no big deal. Even that thing can't deplete 10k Health 10K barrier and 10K guard LOL.
At first I disliked the Qunari head in general but, the horned oxes are growing on me. I've always liked tall toons for my own in games, and I like horns (loved my Aion toon until that game went to hades.) I'm learning to love my Adaar.

The combat animations are too awful for me to take them seriously, and clunky as all hell if you play DW (which is the only class I ever play) so it's all cosmetic for me now Dark Amaranth, lol! I'm playing for the pretties and nothing more.
Cole's stupid hat was deal breaker for using him in party, now that's gone, as is Josie's awful gold shirt, Dorian's Sharpie drawn mustache and I can use cross class armours. All makes for a much more attractive game.
Shame no one can fix the male elf yet, but they are inching ever closer.

CheatEngine saved Inquisition for me. I wanted to call Origin Monday morning to plead my case for a refund, but that isn't necessary. I copied and saved my first playthrough Mage and picked up at the milestone save of Skyhold. I ran the mod that removes weapon and armor restrictions...
BIG CHEESY SMILE.
I am swinging a sword while wearing some serious badass black knight armor. I.. am... Inquisitor.

The HOTAS I ordered for Elite Dangerous is all set up now, the question is - will my interest in DA:I stand up to the temptation of barrel rolling through the galaxy pew-pewing at pirates? Hmmm...there's banter on demand, my quizzie is really hawt and it'd kind of fun now...
I guess I can play both, right?
