Here is the patch we are waiting for:

http://www.ign.com/a...-coming-in-2015

Looks fun but I have to be able to get up close to be able to see my character in order to enjoy a game. I don't know but it looks like that game is purely top down mode, which makes sense for D&D but not my cup of tea. I love seeing what my chars do in games while only using tactical for tactical and battle planning or tight spots that need zoom out. :D

Postem. In practise, when using modern amd graphics cards containing gcn tecnology (like xfx 295x2 i use) it makes sense use mantle instead direct3d 11 in da:i. Using xfx 295x2 and 1080p monitor and using mantle all other settings left unchanged i got using internal benchmark about 30 fps in average more than using direct3d 11. I don't know how accurate that internal benchmark is, but that performance increase is enough to keep me using mantle. I don't understand why someone don't use mantle if he/she can, especially because direct3d seems to be full of bugs in this game.(Or/and nvidia's driver support to da:i is substandard.)Anyway, using mantle is much smoother and faster than using direct3d 11 on my system. And yes my system is not an universal standard, i know it wery well, thankyou.

Hi, mantle isnt a universal standard; its a open one, if nvidia wanted it could adopt mantle, but this clearly will not happen.

As with DX12, mantle is supposed to reduce CPU overhead over graphic processing, thus increasing performances typically were cpu bottleneck exists or when a crossfire is deployed. From my rig with a 7970 i havent noticed much difference in frames in both dx11 and mantle, but over crossfire or higher resolutions it should be more noticiable.

About the internal benchmark, im mostly to say its pretty crap, the way it runs, it looks mostly broken and dont reflect real usage. Best way i confirmed performance issues was playing and using simple fraps to watch frame drops.

Excuse me, good sir, but where did i say that IT WILL run better on AMD? I just think, i still believe it, that AMD has less problems than Nvidia, beside the game being all-plattform-friendly. But i also said, i always say this, you should read my previous posts, that the crashes are way too random NO MATTER WHAT RIG YOU HAVE. And spending more money to change from Nvidia to AMD or backwards is not worth it.

I do believe in crazy theories tho, but that i keep it to myself :P

No you got me wrong. I dont said the game runs better at AMD or Nvidia; i see shortcomings on both vendors, but what i said is that you cant infeer that Systems using AMD videocards or cpus will perform better BECAUSE consoles also use hardware from same vendor; the PC plataform is vendor agnostic, so it shoudnt have anything to do, no optimizations per vendor.

What is more lol is that the game generally works better with AMD, even being a title of "the way to be payed" by nvidia.

Stay positive. I am going to give Bioware more time to make it right. It helps that games that I wouldn't even looked at are turning out to be favorites in my Steam profile. EA isn't stupid, they're cunning. They're making changes and looking at the future with a lot more scrutiny than they did four years ago.

Will do =)

And absolutely agree with you about "cunning, not stupid" EA.

This is why I placed a temporary ban on any purchase of BW/EA DLC and games for myself.

Not sure if it'll make a difference, maybe it even naive, but what can I say, I'm in rebellious state of mind. :bandit:

Oh hell yeah. No more blind preordering out of loyalty for me. EAware has to gain my trust again about these reputation-breaking issues (very little communication from developers doesn't help one bit. How hard is it to post here with a little update?).

Since we're on PCs, I wish Bioware would just let the game unzip once completely after an area is revealed. It would surely decrease loading times and increase performance because the processor isn't tied up decompressing files.

I've had a couple games that this was possible and greatly decreased load times, though for the life of me I cannot recall which ones now.

Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 were unzipped by modders who made them merge seamlessly. I also remember modders doing that for some of the Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon titles along with the original Far Cry.

Okay, I know I am going to sound more "flip-floppity" than a pancake, but I have to say this:

Frostbite 3 is a really big and complicated engine. The game feels unfinished, unpolished and certainly not ready for release on PCs, but... after seeing what it takes to activate a mod from Nexus Mods using DAI_ModManager... all I can say is that this beast has a lot of unseen potential. Also, on that same topic, the modding community has a lot of untapped potential.

So, with the last two patches.....is this game even playable now?

How is the tac camera view? Was that fixed?

I haven't followed this in months.

Thanks

The engine seems to be over complicated for absolutely no reason. I just don't find it compelling for an RPG.  I just feel like it's really short-sided of them to use frostbite engine for this project. It's probably fine for shooters but I just don't see it to be a good choice for an RPG type game.

And my only response to that is: we still haven't seen what Frostbite can do for RPGs. What we see now is an incomplete picture. That's my gut feeling. It can be a platform to improve upon and make it feel just as natural for a console as a real menu-driven, mouse-click, point-and-click RPG. They have hurdles and maybe four years wasn't enough time. This is all speculation, but I just have this feeling that we're going to see Inquisition (at least on PCs) as a more polished game. Of course I could be setting myself up for more disappointment.

That´s what i said. The game works better (not always, cause issues randomness) with AMD. We agree on that.

So, in the other hand, i got you now, you don´t think that cause EA-Bioware having a more exclusive contract with AMD cause of the consoles the game is somehow better optimized for that kind of rig on PC? I don´t know, i´m not saying it is, but let me doubt here. This monopolies are capable of anything. That or they did a lazy job with the Nvidia part.

I would repair your game using the Origin client before attempting to play. Then I would check to see if you have the latest Nvidia driver or still using AMD's beta driver. The tac camera is still wonky.

Thanks again, Sartoz, i´m having issues with the temperature of my CPU. Gonna change the thermal paste (i think you call it that way :P ) cause when i´m playing the CPU temperature goes to 70-80 C and the PC in general makes a lot of noise.

70-80 C ? .... Gulp!

Your CPU temps make me very nervous. That's coming from someone that get nervous when I see CPU temps above 50 C.  I know for a fact that high temps can damage sensitive electronics. It's one reason why I use 3rd party CPU coolers. It may be that 70-80 C is "normal" for Intel/AMD  CPUs but not to me.

I classify my rig to be in the mainstream category.  Perhaps, it's the reason why I never seen CPU temps higher than 50+ C. In any case, I wanted to see my stressed FX-6300 CPU's temperature vs your own. To stress my CPU, I ran Prime95. The results are below. The picture on the left is from my Asus Thermal Radar utility that came with my motherboard. The picture on the right is from Prime95.

Prime95 utility that I uses was downloaded from:

http://www.mersenne....nload/#download

My system's temps after running Prime95 for15 minutes:

https://i.imgur.com/fnDUHWf.png

You mentioned a noisy system. I believe it's your fan(s) running at full speed. It may also be an indication that your existing fans are inadequate for the task at hand or you don't have enough of them.

My CPU air cooler is quiet but is also a monster in size ... the   PH-TC14PE.... and it barely fits inside my case.

Yes, i´m thinking in changing the air cooler, everyone says that the one that comes with the CPU sucks. Today i changed the thermal paste and added an extra fan to get the hot air out. The temperature decrased like 10 degrees but i didnt stressed yet.

Exactly, one of the fans was dead, so i changed that as well. But i need a new case. Mine is old already for this rig.

What air cooler would you recomend that is not really expensive? And also, stressing the CPU can cause some kind of trouble? Don´t wanna melt it now and have no PC to use T_T

Does the case have a lot to do with heat in CPU and GPU? I'm a noob to PC gaming really but when I had mine built (yes, built FOR me, not by me lol!) I opted for a Guardian case because it is supposed to be cooling...and okay it has a super cool LED light set up.

Anyway it also has digital temp readouts and my CPU and GPU are always within one degree of each other and even when the temperature inside the house was 35+ Celsius (that would be 45+ outside, oh Qld such a lovely place in Summer) nether of them went over 37 degrees running the game. So all these high temps are amazing to me, I guess. Not that I know enough to be amazed...

This is a useful and accurate tool for measuring temps for AMD CPUs. I noticed that some temperature programs don't correctly report temps for AMD. This one does.  http://openhardwaremonitor.org/  and best part is that it's a free tool.
