Ability bugs should be be prioritised as high if not higher than UI/Control schemes IMO (then again, I'm part of the controller/PC race :D).

Lots of abilities such as Fortifying Blast (nerfs instead of buffs Barrier :P), Blizzard (lots of folks say it's not working right) and half of the Storm Mage tree aren't working for a LOT of folks... choosing an ability shouldn't be like Russian roulette right?

Bioware, can you acknowledge the ability bugs as well (plus the random CTD/Freezing stuff etc), in addition to the UI/control schemes.

I'm still loving the game despite it's flaws.... c'mon patch!!

We are working to address as much as we can over the first series of patches

Executive Producer of the Dragon Age Franchise
Game industry veteran since 1997. Will I reveal DA secrets?...Likely.

You don't have to believe its  actually from Mark Darrah if you don't want to but its the best we have so far. Lets assume for now that it is and what I get from this is that there are a number of patches planned over the coming days/weeks.

My take on it, is that they'll release the things first that are easiest to address quickly and are of concern to the community and themselves. Which may be game breaking fixes such as CTD's, performance, compatibility and other stability issues.

I asked him for rough outline and timescales but he hasn't replied back yet.

well if proven true it's at least something but I wouldn't see too much into this : saying "as much as we can" means basically nothing from my experience. It's just some way to say, yeah don't worry we're working on something but without specifics, so that when they actually start to patch and we are all dispointed to see that the major issues are not being take care of, we can't argue that they said they would fix said issues =p

I hate being cynical like this as a gamer cause I always want to hope for the best, but from professional experience and point of view I can't help but feel that they're gonna give us the same PR bs I could gave in their place =D

Maybe I'm completely wrong, and I would be the first to praise them if so, but I wouldn't get my hopes up :)

This game has more bugs than my hunting camp.  SLI is a mess. 2x770's.  Cut scenes are glitched, some of them even freeze up with the characters eyes blinking, and nothing else.  Sometimes the sound dies. No voice, no music, just environmental. i.e The sound of bugs...  Sometimes quests are completed when i load my game, even though I never fully completed the quest.  for example, in the hinterlands, I had to meet a farmer, and talk about a horse.  I saved, when I came back, the quest said "go get your horse"  wtf?  At one point one of my characters was on top of a tree.  Thankfully, she came down.

I've been able to fix it to some extent, by disabling SLI, or adding switches to the EXE to better serve the cut scenes, but overall, its a bit messy.

I guess my biggest question is....  All the time Bioware was working on this they never once tried SLI?  never saw any of these problems??  I get that its hard to replicate every scenario, but the fact that everyone here is having the same issues, is a case of a company with tight deadlines to appease share holders.

Gotta hate when characters hang out in trees...(sorry this whole thing has turned into a large comedy for me) ...yup paid my money and can't enter the game...AGAIN.

Here's a problem I would like addressed, Bioware. You LIED and MISLED everyone into thinking this game would be more like DA: Origins. This could not be further from the truth. The game is basically a single player MMO- the combat is bad, the quests are tedious and without substance, and the world is big and pretty but has no depth. I don't want to ask for changes to the game, since we all know THEY WOULD BE DONE ALREADY if you were going to make them. The people holding out hope thinking the game will magically be patched into a good game are wrong. I want an apology and I want Bioware to confess to misleading its fans.

I know at least one person on here returned the game because she was not aware they'd be changing the pc controls such that she could not use primarily mouse to map controls to.

Unfortunately I think I saw her post she bought a PS4 to play on, but still.  That was exactly what you're talking about.  If Bioware had risked saying the DAI controls for PC would in no way resemble those of DAO or DA2, the loss in total sales would be huge, to say the least.

Or perhaps the first patch notes will be a massive list of fixes that could not be summarized via PM's with any effectiveness.

At least that's the hope.

To be honest....I've stopped playing for now until the patches come out. my laptop plays it well enough ONCE its loaded however that black screen bug comes up every time i launch it, then it freezes for about 5 minutes then loads more then freezes again then eventually (this is on any and every loading screen) loads the game. ingame I notice the bugs i expected. However, my laptop runs this fine...ONCE i'm in an area. The loading to the bioware logo takes minutes, the menu takes minutes, loading any area takes...you don't even want to know. And no, its not an equipment issue, tried it on my uncle's PC same exact thing. the further in the game i managed to get the more bugs i encountered. Im not even attempting multiplayer until the patches come out. I really want to play this game. first time i ever preordered, kinda wish i hadn't now. alas, waiting game again.

Hey Guys i just found something really interesting In-Game. I dont know if this is a bug or whatever. You actually CAN Click to Loot/Talk/Walk etc.

But you need to stay in Lootrange. So instead of clicking F when you right in Front of something you can instead click with the Right Mouse Button. But it is only possible in close Range. You gain no benefit from it but it is there. In the actual Game.

So, what does that mean? Is this a Bug and can we expect a simple Fix so we can Click to Loot/Talk/Walk everytime? What do you think? Maybe its just a Bug by myself, so it would be nice if someone would try this too.

My mind is a little blown right now.

Edit: And i found it always strange that the Mouse Button changes over Doors, NPCs etc. It speaks for a bad implementation. But maybe it was always intended to be there.

Very interesting. If it does exist somewhere in the game, perhaps it isn't too out of the question, architecturally, to have it more widely implemented down the line.

Thing is, its a pretty darn good game if you can wrestle around the control issues.  I bought this on day 1 (DVD version since my internet is crap), installed and played 15 minutes before heading off to the internets to find out what I am doing wrong since click to move did nothing.  Saw that it was removed and then started reading more and more and got more and more unimpressed with the game.  I did not go back to it until yesterday and decided to give it a shot with my "new found" self-understanding that I should NOT compare it to DAO and start over.

I have to admit that giving the game a chance from that perspective is making me like it!  Now, the PC controls are baffed and have to be augmented with more options made available.  I am not playing it as I played DAO but more like, dare I say it, Skyrim lol.

This game has a personality disorder in its current state as if Bioware could not decide whether to make an action game or a role playing game and ended up with a stew of both.

I see an opportunity for Bioware to potentially make both camps quite happy with some, what appear to be, relatively minor changes/options that allows the player to choose his style of play.

As I mentioned before though, I highly doubt that this will appease the hardcore DAO fan as those deeper game play mechanics might be just a tad too much augmentation for this version.

Would be a better game if they stopped leading us around by the noses and got rid of 50% of the cutscenes.     But that won't happen.   Whatever happened to roleplay...you know that word that denotes this genre of gaming?    Now everyone needs to have their hands held...god forbid you would want to have a look around before being surgically joined to a team....that you don't even get a chance to know before you are rushed up the road to go kill demons.    What kind of game play is this.    Are gamers these days so helpless they need the handholding right from minute one?

Pretty graphics yes, but it almost gives me the idea that the cutscenes are there in abundant amounts...to hide what they don't know how to do with the game programming.      My personal opinion only.    And lastly of course,  my machine is perfectly capable of playing this game...didn't crash during the hour or two I was ingame.    But in order to enter the game,   I have to stand on my head,  recite verses in Latin...etc for it to let me in ( just kidding...what worked one day for play didn't work the next day for play.   Unintuitive and frustrating to say the least)

People wanting BW to fundamentally change the game (new features? lol) in a priority patch is hilarious... we get it, you're disappointed - but fixing what's already there takes priority over changing the game from what it is.

"Change the combat" etc... yeah, that's not going to happen: Ability bugs/CTDs/DXerrors/Quest Bugs need to be addressed first, with PC controls once they get round to it.

Yes..right click to loot ..but you have to be right beside the object.    And right click on the ground ahead of you to make your party run ahead.

well it doesn't work for me... If I'm not right near the loot or mine or plant, I can't take them and nothing happens, no movement... But there is some kind of walking to the door for unlocking them with a rogue, but you still have to be damn near the door =/

I agree. As much as I'd like to see improved controls, I'm realistic.

Well no, a lot of what's there will probably remain.    Such as my wish for a lot of the cutscenes to say bye bye...it would probably help with the lag and the crashes to desktop with no warning,  that some people experience.       But it won't happen.     We'll see what they DO fix.    Needs some work with the "device creation" error that.."some" Nvidia cards experience.     That one is game-breaking, as it won't allow you to enter the game ...although I did get in once for a couple of hours.      Fluke? Probably.

No ETA on first patch yet? I hope first one will concentrate on optimization and crash fixing.

Storage chest potentially, UI/inventory and control improvements in the following patch if cannot do those also in first one.

They join in the hype train that console will over PC games, problem is according to market reports at April 2014 the opposite is truth and that it is PC winning over consoles games. This already should be a good incentive for them to give us a good mouse and keyboard control at release but this issue still happens.

Exactly cause the opposite is the truth - the companies are catering to consoles so that business doesn't slowly die out, also on consoles they make the sales by default- people can't play the game beforehand to see if it's worth purchasing so they buy, which lets the devs to get away with **** like this.....What they dont'realise is - they are loosign credability in PC community fast, and as soon as another company learns to write NPCs and story as Bioware - we will all take our near 60% of the market there and Bioware will slowly die out...

Well they would have loss in PC community sure, but this is worse - they are loosing all the trust they had worked so hard to get with us. This will reflect hard on their next title and unless they don't REALLY make it primary for PC adn put consoles behind them, I fear Bioware as company will be finished.... It's fine if you want to try something new, but never lie to the community that made you what you are now and never ever make them feel like second class, especially as they hold more game sales than all the consoles+mobile phone games combined...

I doubt I'm the only one who doesn't care about a play-by-play update, but I do like to know that our concerns are actually being recognized after the initial Bioware post.

Thank you!
