Because we have standards that you do not that is why and FYI though I'm clearly wasting my time on you given your total lack of comprehension of the issue at hand for over 2yrs Bioware at every panel every press release and every livestream and Q&A session and even on their own bloody forums made numerous "assertions and promises" that DAI would be a hybrid of DAO and DA2 all of which just like the claims in this video turned out to be a complete and total lie https://www.youtube....h?v=O0Dp7HeW9vs.

Which begs the question, if this game is as good as you and the other apologists claim why are you in here at all instead of playing the game since you clearly don't have any concerns at all.I'd suggest you go back to playing this "Good Game" instead of coming in here annoying people who clearly know more about what makes a real PC RPG then you do.

I'm in here because I was looking for information on the beta for patch 5. I've spent about 240 hours in the game since November, with 2 characters and too much time wasted in the character-editor. ;) Now I'll probably wait for the new features before trying a third character-class.

As for the promises of a hybrid between DA:O and DA 2. The game does feature action-oriented combat as well as the ability to pause and switch to tactical view for a more DA:O like approach. The implementation of both has some problems and might not be what you and others expected, but where did they lie?

All I'm saying is that much of the disappointment apparently comes from your own expectations. I expected something else and was for the most part not disappointed by the game...

because controllers suck.

I share that opinion but does that have to do with anything?

I've been playing DA:I with mouse and keyboard for many hours without any problems.

You can no longer point and click to move your character and you have to move the tactical camera with the cursor keys instead of the mouse.

Why is that such a big deal? These are minor annoyances, not the game-breaking problems some people seem to see in them...

you have no frame of reference here... You’re like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie and wants to know…

;)

It wont be the case for everybody posting "hurrah for DAI" posts but people have to remember that if Bioware does spend any time here on the forum it will be in the guise of shill posters trying to get you to "understand their art"....at gunpoint.

Best to just ignore...the posts can just float by...

The fact that I didn't read 500 pages does not mean that I haven't been loosely following this thread since November. I've read many post, just not all of them.

And the fact that I'm overall quite happy with the game and the apparently pointless idea to add a different point of view to what I mistook for a discussion, does not mean that I'm in any way associated with Bioware or EA.

Are you all so inflexible that your are unable to adopt to slightly different controls? Or are you just unwilling?

No one tells manreg about being unwilling. Manreg finished Alone in the Dark: Inferno on PC.

For those who know this, I do not have to explain. For those who do not - go on and try (the game`s great anyway).

I loved this game so much I played it despite twisted controls (I actually felt I needed 3-4 fingers more).

And awful car physics. I played taxi episode for five days, 2 to 3 hours everyday. The episode is about 2 minutes long.

No one tells manreg about being unwilling.

I had no "expectations" Bioware was intentionally dishonest and misleading in its statements about DAI before release and full of arrogant P.R nonsense and total incompetence at patching post release.Sounds like your either one of those Bioware employees under a ghost account posing as a user or are so incredibly lacking in RPG experience that your failing to understand the major issues here.

We were led to those expectations by EAware.

Our disappointment comes mainly from not getting the game EAware led us to believe we were paying for.

You ought to know by now ... "by PC gamers for PC gamers ... return to roots ... optimized for PC ... blah, blah, blah".

Yes, they did lie.

A lie by omission or obfuscation is still a lie.

Add to that:

The incessant crashing on systems well within spec that many of us are experiencing, indeed some cannot even start their game even now some 3-4 months on.

Sub par performance on even high-end PCs.

What many of us consider sub-par gameplay issues.

The, until now, dismissive and even hostile response to our inquiries and complaints.

When indeed there was any response at all ...

Yes, many of us are legitimately aggrieved.

If you are not that is well and good ... for you.

If you are happy to pay a premium price for a sub-par unfinished product EA is thrilled to hear it.

We on the other hand do have those expectations you allude to.

We expect to be told the TRUTH.

We expect to get what we paid for.

We expect the company we paid that money to listen and respond in a professional manner when we have complaints.

Maybe, just maybe, we are seeing some effort being made to address expectation 3 and that might, eventually, lead to something close to point 2 ... but they can never make up for the lies they have told.

The later must the case then, as I'm not in any way associated with Bioware or EA. I do have a friend from school days who used to work for EA but he left the company years ago, so there are no more insights from that source either. ;)

I agree that the patching process was far from optimal so far.

But when you complain about issues with the RPG experience and accuse Bioware of dishonesty, doesn't that pretty much mean that the game isn't what you expected it to be? So you did have expectations after all, even if based only on your interpretation of their statements, and you're disappointed that they weren't met...

My personal RPG experience is btw. limited to translating an old AD&D game from SSI years ago - I hated the game - and to playing mostly first person RPGs like the Ultima Underworld games and Bethesda's Elder Scrolls and Fallout series. That's probably why I have no clue what I'm talking about and can enjoy DA:I despite all it's "obvious" disastrous flaws...

If you really expect people to read through over 500 pages of previous posts before generously granting them the right to voice their opinion in such a long going discussion you are delusional.

Other than that your arrogant ramblings don't deserve any further comment. Talk about self-righteous...

So, just to be clear: you are free to tell people they don't have legitimate concerns and make baseless personal attacks because their experiences don't match your opinion, without reading the issues in depth; but calling you on it is "arrogant" and "self-righteous."

That's interesting. Know what's arrogant and self-righteous where I come from? Jumping into a months-old discussion to proclaim anyone unlike yourself is "just being inflexible," and that since "you fail to see the problem" then there's no problem to be found. That's kind of textbook arrogance, actually.

O the irony.

"Arrogant."  Arrogant?  Was I arrogant? To whom?  That usually supposes that I was pushing my opinions as fact and anyone with a functioning intelligence could see that the vast majority of the post that offended your delicate sensibilities in fact had very little to do with you or asserting any particular criticism as cold stone fact. Other than the obvious, naturally.

No, I don't expect anything from anyone, other than what they demonstrate when they open their mouths - or type herein.  You may voice your opinion - such as it is - as often and as vociferously as you like, of course.  No one's stopping you, nor should they try.  I shall do the same and no one will actually care about yours or mine.  Why would they?  Who are we that anyone should care other than ourselves?

I would, however (and I don't think this unreasonable), expect anyone to know at least a goodly something about any thread post in - for instance: this thread is not about the next patch - in fact, there are at least a half-dozen threads about it elsewhere, easily found, easily commented on.

So, it is not unreasonable to assume that your initial ever-so-familiar-on-this-thread-refrain of the implied "what's wrong with you whiny retards" was just that.  A thinly-veiled little poke of supposed superiority to the Complainers.

You've done it.  Your <edit - wrong 'you're' - hate when I do that> subsequent provisos of "yeah, well, I don't like stuff 'n' things neither" are all well and good.  Not concerned with those.  I've made bad entrances myself.  Just bear in mind that in nearly six hundred pages, we've all been told multiple times already about how and why and how deeply big sniffy over-entitled slobbery babies we are and why we don't deserve any of the nice things we've got.

We get it already, thanks anyway.

Last year I bought a device that helped me a LOT with PC games having clunky controls. My inquisitor can even walk slowly!  :o

Spoiler

Yes, the device is very good for Pablum type games.

Aaaaaand back on track. For those of us who don't want to start talking about our tiny thumbs and how the right one can't reach the controller bits. *cough* Let alone those with any sort of hand disability....

I'm loving how Shakespearean the thread was getting, there. Except I would suggest rather than R3, it's Othello.

And we're Desdemona. ;)

& BTW, i do understand the frustrations of people who only play on PC with DA:I since its geared more towards the PS4 & XB1 which is kinda f*cked up if you were expecting it to be more suited for your PC, i just laugh at the one's who start to act like their superior while talking about how consoles & their users are some kinda cancer on the gaming industry, are way too many of those

If you'd bothered to read the thread, you'd see that the fair majority of us are, in fact not doing that. The only time it comes in is when some schill comes in and accuses us of it--at which point we say "no, we're not, here are our actual grievances [list]" and that gets ignored and the schilling continues.

Mr Darrah asked for feedback (read the thread and all) and he's getting it. Mr Pierse has said it's being read, so we're still giving it. Have a nice day. :)

[Edited to remove flamebait. Apparently I'm having a rough day and need more coffee].

Hey Everyone,

Sign ups are now open for the PC Patch 5 Beta program.

Cool!  Thanks, Mr. Pierse!

Really wish I had any relevant technical ability other than pointing and going "yup, looks broke."  I am working on a supposition as to why my own personal gaming experience was done busted, but I haven't played far enough yet to say for sure. It may be relevant to others, so I'm plonking along.

Perhaps it'll be more relevant at some point in the future - here's hoping.
