People wanting BW to fundamentally change the game (new features? lol) in a priority patch is hilarious... we get it, you're disappointed - but fixing what's already there takes priority over changing the game from what it is.

"Change the combat" etc... yeah, that's not going to happen: Ability bugs/CTDs/DXerrors/Quest Bugs need to be addressed first, with PC controls once they get round to it.

Most of us are not asking for fundamental changed but for changes to features that are already there so that they work better. For example the Tac cam is there but it sucks to use and we want that fixed.

My brief advice for BioWare for the next Dragon Age title:

1. Make it smaller. I realize this can get frustrsting, with people complaining about how small DA2 was, but I think you went a bit overboard. I think the most apparent casuality of how big the game is, is how detached and insignificant the side quests feel.

Origins had its share of seemingly-irrelevant side quests as well, but not like this. The new "zoom in, but not be a cut scene" dialog is a flag that warns me that this quest is going to be a waste of time and will in no way let me further characterize my character. It's filler. I think you need to find a happy medium and I think you can/will do so.

2. Honestly, it's your last chance not to anger PC players. Everything from the tactical camera to the inventory screens needs to be designed with the PC in mind. This isn't the kind of stuff you want people hung up on. This isn't a "PC master race" thing, either. There should be separate controls for PCs and consoles. It's more work, but it's worth it.

To tell a little story, I had been looking forward to Watch Dogs ever since it was first announced at E3. I told all of my friends about it. I kept them appraised of all the Watch Dogs news. When I finally got the game, I played for about 20 minutes, was appalled at the driving controls, and haven't played it since. Controls matter.

3. Allow mods. I know it might be out of your hands due to the engine, but just really do everything in your power to let mods exist. At the very least you can expose properties files so we can set various gameplay values ourselves. Why do you all of a sudden need to crack down on modding?

I disagree, the next game needs to be bigger. I love the sense of exploration in this game. I love the sense of context to side quests that you are building the Inquisition from scratch. Me personally I've always wanted a single player RPG with the size and scope of an MMO. This game by far has come closest to meeting that expectation for me.

I do agree though that they need to add modding tools to the next title. Or at the very least a campaign/quest editor,

As far as current issues I have with this game; Male PC referred to as a Female. And Tac Cam needs some love as well.

What is wrong with you people? Go make a game of this scale and depth, and we'll ream you because you can't click to loot....

Sure and when I tell the community im making it with PC controls in mind I'll get reamed because a console controller doesn't work for it. But at least I wont be a lier.

DA:O was trying to sell to us, the people that loved the tactical style of RPG combat we had come to know and love from similar games.  I don't know if its EA's greed or Bioware's but they then decided to try and sell the game to the largest possible audience to make all the moneys.  Its a company, thats what they do.  Unfortunately they sacrificed all the care that went into community that first sponsored and made Dragon Age the name that it is.  The ones who told all there friends to 'buy this game'.

I bought DA2, I never finished it.  I'm hoping I can get through this but so far in the last week I have only put in 16 hours.  How the game plays disgusts me atm.

Personally I'd just be happy to be able to visit every area instead without crashing to desktop every few minutes - Storm Coast, Fallow Mire, the northwestern sand reaches... all inaccessible to me and many many others because of this!

yeah trust is earned not handed out freely

i may believe that bioware is working on fixing the issues but i don't trust they will actually deliver on what they say

the only way i actually trust what is said is if there is solid proof to back it up, for now i just see it as an elabate lie to keep stringing people along

Im already past my 24hour return period so stringing me along does nothing.

Those that have not bought because of issues will wait for fixes so again stringing them along does nothing.

Trust is earned and Bioware has a lot of trust built up. Since EA that trust has been eroding and DA:I is burning it fast. If they manage to fix it great if not the trust is gone.

Man, this game has been *so* frustrating... Apparent bugs I have come across so far (some of them already mentioned by most folks):

- In certain cutscenes, my male character is referred to as female.

- Potions seem to be inconsistent... I equip healing/special potions to each party member. They each have their own stash of unique special potions (poisons etc) but they all share the 8 healing potions? Is this a bug? It's counter intuitive. I would expect each character to have their own 8 health potions. If I equip each member with 8 potions, and one character uses 2 potions ,everyone's health potion count goes down to 6. This makes no sense.

- Quests get completed without any action from me - especially ones where things need to be collected. I'll often have 2-3 more of a given resource to harvest, and I'll quit game. Next load in, the quest is mysteriously completed.

- Party members randomly forget their level ups, and I see the icon telling me to level them up again. I would level up a party member, load in to a new area, and then find that the party member had forgotten the level up, and was asking me to do it again.

- Horrible AI pathing and target selection. Sometimes the tank will just stand  there and do nothing while enemies rail on him.

- Most fights, my entire party dies, minus the stealth archer. She is OP and can beat most things by stealthing, running away, and hitting them from distance, before re-stealthing and running to the other end of the area, rinse and repeat.

- Controls: They were so counter intuitive but I was able to fix them to some extent by using Razer Nostromo pad (D pad for movement, number keys for abilities), and remapping my mouse buttons (using CM Storm Inferno software) to mimic keypresses.

- Behaviours and tactics seem to be random and the characters don't follow what you ask them to do

- Fighting in enclosed areas is a nightmare, the scenery and camera are all over the place.

The funny part is that my friend has it on xbox One and says the game is phenomenal. He's seen none of the bugs that I describe, and says that rogue dual wield combat is excellent and very easy. He's 30+ hours in and having the time of his life. Me, I am wondering why the hell I ordered the game on PC....

Well, from this statement by Conal Pierse and the pm from Darrah, they are at the very least not engaging in a media blackout.

If I had to guess, I would say we can expect something by the end of this week.  But... if the idea floated last week regarding them having a package of fixes finished and rolled up into the first patch, it might be sooner.

I know I would surely like to be able to start playing as Thanksgiving dinner is happily digesting.

Something to be thankful for.... spending $70 to use. Properly, or even at all.

Ugh, i hate this one. Most of the time when my party members finish a mob they usually autotarget the next one (handy when there's only one mob left) but the tank just stands there getting hit, flanked most of the time...

So what are the REAL requirements for this to work on a PC? I suppose that's the question. Even suped up laptops are having issues.

I've been rocking it on an Intel i7 3.4 GHz (Quad core), 16GB RAM (Corsair Dom, DDR3, IIRC), nVidea GTX 580 video card.

In general, the game runs quite well on high graphics, although I get extra stutter and reduced FR if I go to ultra settings.

60 hours in, and I've not had a single crash, although after a 12 hour session, it gets glitchy enough that I've shut down, and re-fired up the computer/game to reset the resources.

That said, I do think there are several UI issues that could be cleaned up, and without having the character walk to get in range for melee strikes if I click on the target, I couldn't imagine playing this game on PC with a melee character if I have a KB&M.

I guess my read... This game was obviously developed with the console in mind first, and ported to PC, rather than the other way around, like so many of the previously mentioned games on the forums (Mass Effect series, rest of the DA series). I guess a lot of companies see PC gaming as largely niche or dead, with the future being consoles, so that's what they develop for. Kind of sad, because for me, PC games allow a level of immersion that console games will never be able to meet. I like consoles, but I still think the PC is the pinnacle of gaming for UI and Graphics, so it makes me sad to see such an obvious shift in the dev cycle of a game that was developed both for consoles and PCs.

There's always something, isn't there? BioWare has created a universe in Dragon Age that so many of us love, which is why so many of you are pissed right now. I bought a new graphics card for my PC just for this game, so I spent about $200 for DA:I standard edition. Worth every penny. The cut scenes aren't there to hide poor development, they're there to tell the story. And then people are pissed they aren't getting patches out quickly enough? Don't you want the patches to get it right the first time? This whole thread consists of people being pissed at BioWare after they said they're gonna FIX IT! What is wrong with you people? Go make a game of this scale and depth, and we'll ream you because you can't click to loot....

I agree if you don't like the story the game is not for you but when we start getting into UI issues there are certain things that are pretty inexcusable for a 3rd iteration of a game series from experienced developers.

Certain UI that are hallmarks of DA games are expected to be included or improved upon, not made worse.

I can understand if some gameplay is changed and thus UI is changed with it but make sure its well done.

When including gameplay features from previous games ensure they are as good or better then previous games.

Certain UI mistakes should not be made be an experienced developer

so many examples of poor UI you would expect from a small first time developer that would keep a great game idea from becoming a huge hit.

Its not so much that we expect them to come out with immediate fixes as we feel the game should not have been release in such a state to begin with. We can't imagine how they thought it was acceptable so must have been working on it already and so they are working on negative time not just x number of days since release. No its not really fair to them but its also not fair to us.

Answered what I could within your quote. Haven't encountered the other things you mentioned.

Man, this game has been *so* frustrating... Apparent bugs I have come across so far (some of them already mentioned by most folks):

<<<<<<<<<<<< bug

I would expect each character to have their own 8 health potions. If I equip each member with 8 potions, and one character uses 2 potions ,everyone's health potion count goes down to 6. This makes no sense.

<<<<<<<<<<<< your party shares your potion stash, not a bug (DAI doesn't like explaining things, but it's there in the tutorial in the codex I think)

- Party members randomly forget their level ups, and I see the icon telling me to level them up again. I would level up a party member, load in to a new area, and then find that the party member had forgotten the level up, and was asking me to do it again.

<<<<<<<<<<<< Don't forget to click "Apply" to finalize your choice before exiting - if not that, then no idea. Seems unique.

- Behaviours and tactics seem to be random and the characters don't follow what you ask them to do

<<<<<<<<<<<< noticed this too, especially hold seems a problem.

- Fighting in enclosed areas is a nightmare, the scenery and camera are all over the place.

<<<<<<<<<<<< Yeah, I miss DAO's camera :(

I've logged over 55 hours on PC, experiencing (a lot) of DX-related crashes (much less recently with some hard work and avoiding certain areas completely) but generally not experiencing the problems you are I think. (or they just don't bug me that much, like controls/ui/camera)

The dev team is hard at work on upcoming patches. We will get you information as soon as we can, but in efforts to ensure we are providing you a complete and accurate picture, we are refraining from commenting on what's being patched until that information is finalized.
I'm sorry for the delay, but trust that we are working on it and have been following your concerns closely.

At least something... Trying not to get my hopes too high, though. Also, you, Bioware, could, patch things in time.

Simpler things, like the zoom of the camera and, specially, the tactical camera and allowing click to move when paused (NOT JUST when using tactical camera) should be fixable in hours of work and patch for those released in a day or two -- if mods where available I'm sure there would be a mod fixing those two things at day one.

More complicated things, like AI and UI should come in a week or two. But more immediate AI problems, like it not following tactical camera orders when one leaves it (and that just sounds like a bug or something unplanned, because I can't think of anyone who would actually want the game to BE that way) should be addressed in days as wheel.

So please, release the fixes as they get ready (and don't just wait to release one big patch) and follow an OPEN (open with your community) priority schedule with ETA dates.

This whole buzz reminds me of an old movie. A "Groundhog Day", where's the same thing happened over and over again. You're promised a great game, you've shown something that looks very appealing. You get your hopes high. You preorder. You get the game and when you discover that beyond the facade of promises there is basically a dead corpse, you, in return, get VERY dissapointed and vent your anger on forums.

This very thing happens with most of releases nowadays. People buy the game straight from A Hype Train station and then begin to chant: "Fix!Fix!Fix!Fix!Fix!" or "Will Not Buy Any More Games From You Until You Solve XYZ".

Yet I have to thank you all for holding me aback with a purchase. I will definitely NOT sink 70$ down THAT drain.

I only hope they don't f*ck up the next mass effect.

Oh yes they will. People fail to see that the path BioWare took is set since ME2. That game everybody praised was actually the very first step of the downfall (yes for me it is a big one). A lot of action, boobs girls, explosions and in the meanwhile the main plot was thrown out the airlock, reducing the player to solve the daddy issues of their bad*ss team.

Everything was simplified and the accent was put on the visuals, the show, i.e. for the casual gamers. DA2, ME3, DAI are only the logical result of a policy which sees, as much as I hate to say it and like many here mentioned it, the future in the consoles not the PC. I dare say ME4 will be probably BioWare's last PC game and expect an even more MMO styled game.

I dont' think it's a loss, really. They will leave a vacuum which will be filled by other game companies that maybe have to rethink the concept of  a RPG. Wait and see.

My first BW game was Baldur's Gate, in the glorious times where 800x600 was called high resolution and a Pentium II 350Mhz the summum of the processor technology. My last was ME3. DAI, ME 4 or whatever are not products which interest me. I'm from another time.

I hope there won't be any more MassEffectses... Really, EA should just stop overusing Bioware franchises and only release sequels in like two to five years apart, but really good ones. Like HalfLife, or Witcher, or Deus EX... I just don't like when they simply "milk" the good lore-rich world they create for the sake of money and end up building something as superficial, shallow, as DragonAge2.
It's good when you can feel love and years of work put in a game, when it feels that developing it was really personal and expressive to those involved, like in Baldur'sGate series or the first NeverwinterNights, for example, and that's NOT something I can feel in DA2. DA1, yes; DA3: we shall see...

That 24 hour period doesn't matter FYI. Just open a ticket with EA support through the chat tool on the support website. I got my money back yesterday and I bought the game on the 18th....Told them I want my money back, the PC version is a dumpster fire and you cannot rebind all of your keys correctly and it doesn't even support mouse button binds. They took that and refunded my money after about 5 mins.

P.S. Even indie game ''Mars: War Logs'' have better UI and controls on PC, and also more/better character skills system, but most of the side quest suck too..

Is it not obvious by now, that ea wishes to move away from PC gaming Platforms on all but a few games?

With consolers, they can be charged more (and will pay it).

They do not try get it  (Modded and or Fixed by the users).

If it actually DOES work on one device, it pretty much works on ALL of Them.

The mindset of the consoler is to accept moreso than the PC gamer as a rule.

Look forward to a time where DA will go the way of MADDEN Football and TIgerWoods Golf, consoles are ea's future, NOT PC's.

Witcher 3 anyone?

I know I'm backing up the discussion a little bit, but as far as Mike Laidlaw goes there are a couple explanations for him being on vacation right now that might be more reasonable, given the state of the game.....(1) actual family related emergency (2) company imposed "vacation" due to the issues related to the release?

well, UI wise, DA:I is one of the worst game I ever played... they even went as far as suppressing boots and gloves slots on character sheet, to implement some system where you can upgrade the base armor with gloves and Boots... It's not a bad idea per say... if only we could do it for ALL the armors...

Also, It shows a lot about how the RPG genre is fading away in profit of a more action combat based game where optimising your equipement and truly customize your character with some shiny loots is not even a thing anymore...

Oh and if anyone still wonder why the hell they choose Frostbite Engine for an RPG game, just read this http://en.wikipedia....e_(game_engine)... nuff said =/
