Thanks for the info.

Bio must have felt it necessary to re-compile the game with all the changes and new content.. use this as a new  baseline and let the testers have a go at it.

Just think! this coming Saturday I will be drinking black russians in Costa Rrrrrrrricaaaaa!!! hehe

It isn't necessary to download the whole thing with patch in place.  I know it's not an option for me since I'm on metered internet.   You can create a folder "Dragon Age Inquisition Beta" and copy your data folder into it, download the patch portion which is around 400-600 mbs, repair the beta install and then it's all set.

I need to reinstall the Origin client. Good grief. Okay, I am downloading the beta.

I hope as well as it does for other game producers. It can be a good thing, cutting both cost and time required to get new content and patches out. Let's hope it does the same for Bioware and, they keep the program going.

Yeah, really. I would rather be part of the program than be left out in the cold... (please see the first 475 pages of this thread). And all you fanboys and apologists: A BIG HA! In your face...

I'll keep you guys informed. I really feel like Bioware is getting back on track. I told you EA is cunning. They have us EAGERLY beta testing their patch. EAGERLY.

Hi guys,

Enjoy the beta and please push fixing the AI!!

I was in Western Approach with Sera, Cass and Viviene.

Trying to get up a ladder system. It was comical to say the least.

I was left solo at top of the climb with a darkspawn brute. I died cos every one is at the bottom of climb chasing a fennec

I  select Cass and hopefully the rest will follow her. NOOO

I have to get her to the top. Hold position!

Go down get Sera. Hello Cass what are you doing down here?

Rinse and repeat for 20 mins!! LMFAO

Say no more!!

Do the advanced install, it's much faster and, if you started the full download, the folder is created, just copy and paste. :)

My wife was streaming a movie from Netflix. She's gone to bed and now all the bandwith space is mine. ALL MINE!!! HAHAHA! Just like that it's almost done. I have three full copies on my gaming drive. I keep one clean and virginal. The other is mod-dirty. The third is to counter my bad luck that I really, really jacked it all up.

LOL you sound like me, I am glad my partner (truck driver who runs a dedicated rout and is usually home every night) got messed up by the icy weather and had to stay in a motel on the other side of the state.

Yeesh. You're up to your eyeballs in snow? My family in upstate New York are talking snow rage. Yeah. I remember that. You just finished shoveling three feet of snow off a 40 foot driveway and then plow truck arrives. Just in time to drop another 3-4' feet of snow at the end of the driveway. I do not miss those days.

No, I'm fine here at home however my partner is in Memphis and, on a massive ice skating rink, with an 18 wheeler. (currently parked at a motel) took him 12 hours to drive 300 miles, it was that slick out there.

I grew up in far northwest Montana so I know what snow banks that keep coming back are. I'd much rather be here, enjoying a good game and, deciding what still needs fixed in there. :)

Yep, it may still take a little bit more time. We'll update you here and through Twitter once everyone's entitlements should have taken effect. If after that point restarting origin, logging out and in again, clearing your cache, and restarting your browser don't work, let me know.

Also, please be aware that your beta entitlement is attached to the Origin account you were using when you signed the NDA. If you have a different account on the forum to that Origin account, it will not be entitled. You will need to use the Origin account you signed up with for the forums.

have done this several times now, with different browsers and on different computers. Even tried it on a new Firefox install. Beta isn't showing up in Origin either. Guess I'm just not in.

Some selection suggestions that I would love to see:

  • Characters being selectable by clicking on them in the world, not just their icon.
  • When in third person ("normal" view), when you click the icon to select a character, don't make it center on the character. Instead, just make the character selected (just like in tactical cam). A double click or choosing the character with F1-F4 could still center on the character for quick relocation of the camera. During combat, however, that can be rather jarring.
  • Hold Shift and click on a character to add that character to the selected characters.
  • Hold Control and click on a character to remove that character from the selected characters

I know some people like Cyan keep saying: Hold out hope.  But I can't do it anymore.  I can no longer hope that I will ever be able to play DAI on my computer.  I'm very upset by that.  I want to scream, rant and rave.  And I know people are hoping that Patch 5 will do something.  But because of EA's track record of just not giving a shite about thier customers, I think I can safely say that all Patch 5 is, is just fluff.  I have heard nothing about the Nvidia drivers issue being squared away.  The only thing I can possibly think of doing...much to my...great disappointment, is to consider getting a Playstation 4.  Trust me, i really don't want to.  I barely use my Xbox 360 for anything more than a video streaming device (youtube, hulu, etc).

Conal, I don't blame you.  You are doing your job to the best of your ability.  You are just the messanger.  And probably one of the only people from Bioware I've seen that have ANY kind of PR skill (yeah, BioMods 01-whatever number you are, you really are not doing your job properly).  But honestly, Conal, your company is so tainted with what it has done, I expect nothing on the PC end to ever be fixed.  And I've stated on my end what has happened with each patch that has come out.  Tell your overlords that they can stop the lying and just admit that this game was only for Next Gen consoles.

Id gladly play GTA5 on console, especially because pc version is still not out yet, lol. But when the fact that Inquisition is a console game for a controller struck me i did not have the urge to buy a crappy console because i did not wanted to play Inquisition and this tpye of games (i would not call it rpg, some sort of action adventure casual game maybe). You dont get real rpg on console nor good real time strategies and any real skillbased games, the games on consoles are designed for the mass, easily entertained people (like Angry Joe). I want complex control scheme and real depth to aspects of the game (not like that shameful garrison mission table copycat Warttable nonsense lacking.. meaning?)and if i play with a game meant to be played for hundreds of hours i want deep story telling and and memorable unique character to the companions or whatever you have in the game. The only reason not to hate what the third DA became is because the artist did a really good job. Voice acting, writing, facial expressions and such. Of course this is very subjective. To be "consolised" means lack of complex gameplay not just a dumbed down control scheme to me. To hell with consoles... I dont know if Diablo 3 console implementation is any good but thats one game id try playing with a friend on xbox or ps4 because for some unknown reason i like the grind in that game on pc too :D. Some rare cases but just rather stick to PC. Id rather play good and complex games like divinity rarely than tons of crap on console.

That being said im still hoping patch five or six or whatever can make this one at least pc friendly.

Are you "trying" to play the game on PC or XBOX 360?

We all know that they had to cram the game onto last-gen consoles, bursting it at the seams. Probably because EA said so. This game was never intended for last-gen and there is very little they can do to improve on that. It is what it is.

For PC, it is really down to your hardware configuration, so you can't really blame Bioware 100% if your game won't run.

Technology is moving FORWARD and if you don't keep up with that by upgrading your hardware, you won't be able to continue playing new games. That is unfortunately the reality of it.

I remain hopeful that this new approach to the patching will finally make the game playable for me again. I SO want to get back to playing the game, but the crashes are so frequent that it's just no fun. I had, and have, so many different Inquisitors I want to play, yet I have still only played the game through once.

The thing is Dubya, I WAS able to play this on my PC before patch 2.5 (the hotfix) hit.  High graphics, no lag.  At all.  After that hotfix, everything went to crap.  I cannot play the game on anything above low now.  I can't even engage SLI without the game taking a crap.  I never played it on 360.  I just said I had a 360 but I know the issues they've had with DAI there.

OK fair enough, I just didn't quite understand where you were coming from, but now I do...

I'm really sorry if I sounded dismissive. That was not my intention. It must be uber frustrating to be having these issues as a result of Bioware's shoddy patching.

If you are using Windows 7, have you given any thought of upgrading to the Tech Preview of Windows 10 just to see if MAYBE it improves things for you?

I'm not using SLI, but since I took the plunge to Windows 10, my game performance has been better than ever. My hardware components even run cooler.

Something to consider, perhaps?

And I remain hopeful, that this test will not last for eternity. I'm sure, many "testers" see this opportunity as an early access possibility, not as a test. I must confess, I prefer, when the developers make all the tests themselves...

In an ideal world, yes, developers would test their own stuff. I honestly do not know why they are so incapable of doing it.

But we are testing patch 5 and we are reporting bugs and issues, so by the time you get the patch, it should work properly. :)
