Love the enthusiasm! You might want to delete any of that stuff ye h'ain't supposed to be tellin' th' rest o' us unwash'd.
Not to rain on any parades, nor denigrate anyone's participation and hard work therein (thanks sincerely all involved, hopefully this patch will break fewer things with more critical eyes on it), but IMO, until it's an actual thing - which it isn't, not really, not until the rest of us can install and see for ourselves (possibly sometime in May) - talking about the patch seems kinda counterproductive. Looking at it, it's not that much, certainly not worth the slobbering EA's now getting for oh-so-benevolently fixing their feckups using your free labour. Even after you finish, it's not a done deal. Ideally, you work and slave and EA gets presented with a nice long list and they fix everything and real gratitude and silence in the forums pours in as PC players go and happily play.
What is more likely unfortunately, is that you will present a thousand bugs and they'll fix five, which screws up the last three patches, which will take another two months to hotfix.
Hope springs eternal but this is EA we're talking about. DA:I is their clunky, broke-ass GOTY designed for consoles and made with a loving, money-grubbing indifference, all this sudden "let's pretend to involve the community!" crap aside.
I understand the 'necessity', I suppose, even if it does point to something fundamentally screwed in this industry; if that's what gets it fixed - and actually working for the better, because that's still in the air (remember, you're just digging, you ain't actually fixing squat) - then cool, get it fixed, be awesome, go to town, lead on MacDuff's and give us a better product in the end of it. I will hail all and sundry with the utmost sincerity for your efforts, using big fonts and those idiotic emoji things.
Bog knows they couldn't get it right wi'out'cha.
Well, until the next one. I have to wonder how many more y'all'll be tasked to fix before EA decides enough's enough?
I know this might look ungrateful, but it really isn't. I'm just one of those dour a-holes that are of the mind that getting excited over the theoreticals is a waste of energy and the setup for big, big disappointments. In an industry that seems to go out of its way to both create and thrive on disappointing its customers, it's hard to really care about something like this. Congrats! Get excited for the same DLC we made for the last game! Including such items as a chest - which we also had to include in DLC for Origins! Yay! - and bug fixes four months after release! This time we set it up so you only have yourselves to blame! Aren't we smart?
At least you're getting something after having been so dulled and oppressed by our failures you will be now grateful for anything!
Not all of us. Not until it's an actual thing. Until then it's still nothing but talk and PR.
*Sigh* I really am a cynical bastardo. Sorry. Just needed to vent that.
