The introduction scene went without a hitch and everything was set to high on Graphic settings. I need to lower tesselation because some surfaces really look shiny. I'm okay with it because it looks like a high-speed polish, but the lip gloss thing is bothering me.

  • No audio glitches, no lowered framerates between cutscenes and action movement.
  • Auto-attack (SP) doesn't work. It simply puts me into a 'guard' position. I'm holding a bow and nothing is happening. I have to left-click to fire the bow or use my attack key © on the gaming pad.
  • Sprint... doesn't work. It's toggled as (E) and the character is not moving any faster.
  • Click-to-move is still no present in action mode. Camera zoom didn't zoom high enough in tactical mode to help with different elevated enemies during the introduction scenes.
  • The big takeaway from this version is that I didn't crash to desktop and the FPS never dropped when looking around.

In an ideal world, yes, developers would test their own stuff. I honestly do not know why they are so incapable of doing it.

But we are testing patch 5 and we are reporting bugs and issues, so by the time you get the patch, it should work properly. :)

All I really want from this patch is a stuff chest :) It can hardly work improperly :)

You're not supposed to post Closed Beta feedback here! There is a dedicated forum for that.

The Sprint key is only for mounts.

Thing is sprint works in multiplayer, you move faster if you hold it. Maybe not working in SP was a bug all along.

Oh Ok, I didn't know that since I do not use MP.

They way they SHOULD have implemented it is to have the walk toggle between walk and jog, then hold the sprint key to run.

Honestly i thought it was going to be patched later. But then i saw it working in multiplayer with the actual character not only with the horse. Its just one of those things like the 4 ability limitation in multiplayer. Who knows why it is the way it is.

So after playing the beta patch, I'm still concerned with a few things.

- The Tac Cam still needs a bit of work.

- Auto attack isn't working as it should be, I still have to click things to attack.

- Frame-rate is surprisingly better, but still a bit of stuttering in cutscenes.

- Have had a few crashes in the Black Emporium and some issues with the mirror of transformation.

- Also, the chest in the under-croft is a bit bugged, some of my items I stored in it disappeared after exiting and re-entering the room.

- Haven't had a Direct X crash yet, which is a hopeful sign.

- Something still needs to be done about the Skyhold PJ's.

All in all, I'm happy so far, I'll keep reporting back with more stuff when I discover it.

OK fair enough, I just didn't quite understand where you were coming from, but now I do...

I'm really sorry if I sounded dismissive. That was not my intention. It must be uber frustrating to be having these issues as a result of Bioware's shoddy patching.

If you are using Windows 7, have you given any thought of upgrading to the Tech Preview of Windows 10 just to see if MAYBE it improves things for you?

I'm not using SLI, but since I took the plunge to Windows 10, my game performance has been better than ever. My hardware components even run cooler.

Something to consider, perhaps?

A little "off-topic", but I personally won't be putting Windows 10 on my gaming machine until they've released it in final, and updated with at least one Service Pack, given Microsoft's track history. (Especially with the Windows 8 debacle for "portable" devices AKA anything with a touch screen)

As for consoles, I own an Xbox 360 and much like Harbinger1975 I also rarely use it (mainly got it for Halo, since they didn't release the other versions for PC, only 1 & 2) and I can probably count the times I've used it in a year on one hand. I have nothing "against" consoles, but would rather see game developers understand that not everyone uses a controller for gaming.

A little "background" here for context- I started gaming with a Commodore 64 that had a single stick and button (and an Atari 2600 around the same time which had similar controls). I remember when I first started computer gaming with an old Mac IIci then with a 386 (for the younger folks, think CPU speed 25 mhz, not 3.0 ghz), and I loved how I could assign buttons with keyboard and use the mouse and it felt "more" natural to me, then I had tried using a joystick/controller for games and it felt awkward to do so. I still use a joystick or controller for driving/flight games, because of the ability to "toggle" when it comes to more precise control- but I have never given up using keyboard and mouse for 3D gaming, especially when it comes to movement in a lot of 1st/3rd person type games. Before the "console kiddies" (both large and small) attempt to brand me as a "luddite" for not adopting controllers- you should consider that I utilize computers daily both personally and professionally (and should probably also ask themselves if they have gainful employment, instead of living in their parents basement) and have been for a lot of years.

Why on earth there are people out there who continuously think that "one size fits all" speaks for everyone in this world is beyond my comprehension, apparently. There's room for both or all input devices in this world (and the gaming industry) and my standpoint is that although "radical" is it may be to develop games that make controls "easy" for everyone, you can't just relegate keyboards/mice and/or other combinations of input controllers to a trash heap based on your personal preferences. It's akin to telling everyone in the world that you may only drive a compact car and that no one can drive a truck, van or any other flavor of vehicle which may suit the job as well or even better in some circumstances. The reality (and TL;DR for the lazy types) is that the argument is not about input controllers or "PC master race", it's about "mindset" when it comes to development- and I'm seriously hoping that the developers will be listening to the testers/users with future games they release and attempting to accommodate instead of simply ignoring an entire population of people who do something a little differently. The "moral" of the story- If you continue to choose to alienate an entire group of people- by your action (or inaction) you also accept the consequences which come with it. If you want dialogue to change- then perhaps you should demonstrate by your own action, too.

^ Tl:dr.

But i finally decided for 2nd playthrough with CE banter fix of course and some fancy mods (Solas dark shirt, inv cap 400, couple others) and it plays suprisingly well after i downgraded my expectations for actual 10/10 RPG game.

Little bit like good old WoW: search every possible inch of map for chance to find something funny/interesting (and there are such things: like in WoW).

Betatesters: they added anything to MP or something that can be easily implemented in MP?

Are you testing the beta with a controller??

Or just seeing if the function works under both UI's?

So, Bio made some performance tweaks.

Did Bio mentioned what you should test? (yes/no answer)

I am yet to test this as it was "intended" to be used. I don't think it is "broken", I just don't think people understand how to use it properly. Maybe. Need time to use it, and I will feed back in bold letters to Bioware.

Oh, hey - another thing I noticed when I did my alterations on my rig to play DA:I and the experience improved dramatically - buried now under the happy beta-testing - was that doing what I did also drastically decreased crash rates.  I used to get three-ten an hour, sometimes more, sometimes just on the bloody "Click to Continue" and menus.

Now, one - random - every four-five hours or so.  The controls are still clunky and it's still an arse-numbing slog, but it is better.  CE's banter toggle makes the slog almost bearable.

It figures it'd be something that simple.

Does Outcome still allow you to update your game with newly released patches via Origin?

Love the enthusiasm!  You might want to delete any of that stuff ye h'ain't supposed to be tellin' th' rest o' us unwash'd.

Not to rain on any parades, nor denigrate anyone's participation and hard work therein (thanks sincerely all involved, hopefully this patch will break fewer things with more critical eyes on it), but IMO, until it's an actual thing - which it isn't, not really, not until the rest of us can install and see for ourselves (possibly sometime in May) - talking about the patch seems kinda counterproductive.  Looking at it, it's not that much, certainly not worth the slobbering EA's now getting for oh-so-benevolently fixing their feckups using your free labour.  Even after you finish, it's not a done deal.  Ideally, you work and slave and EA gets presented with a nice long list and they fix everything and real gratitude and silence in the forums pours in as PC players go and happily play.

What is more likely unfortunately, is that you will present a thousand bugs and they'll fix five, which screws up the last three patches, which will take another two months to hotfix.

Hope springs eternal but this is EA we're talking about.  DA:I is their clunky, broke-ass GOTY designed for consoles and made with a loving, money-grubbing indifference, all this sudden "let's pretend to involve the community!" crap aside.

I understand the 'necessity', I suppose, even if it does point to something fundamentally screwed in this industry; if that's what gets it fixed - and actually working for the better, because that's still in the air (remember, you're just digging, you ain't actually fixing squat) - then cool, get it fixed, be awesome, go to town, lead on MacDuff's and give us a better product in the end of it.  I will hail all and sundry with the utmost sincerity for your efforts, using big fonts and those idiotic emoji things.

Bog knows they couldn't get it right wi'out'cha.

Well, until the next one.  I have to wonder how many more y'all'll be tasked to fix before EA decides enough's enough?

I know this might look ungrateful, but it really isn't.  I'm just one of those dour a-holes that are of the mind that getting excited over the theoreticals is a waste of energy and the setup for big, big disappointments.  In an industry that seems to go out of its way to both create and thrive on disappointing its customers, it's hard to really care about something like this.  Congrats!  Get excited for the same DLC we made for the last game!  Including such items as a chest - which we also had to include in DLC for Origins! Yay! - and bug fixes four months after release!  This time we set it up so you only have yourselves to blame!  Aren't we smart?

At least you're getting something after having been so dulled and oppressed by our failures you will be now grateful for anything!

Not all of us.  Not until it's an actual thing.  Until then it's still nothing but talk and PR.

*Sigh* I really am a cynical bastardo.  Sorry.  Just needed to vent that.
