I'm one of those that LOVE LOVE LOVE certain features of the coming patch. It's not perfect, it's not done, but I do belive the beta plays better for me as a PC user than previous versions of Inquisition.

Same here. The only thing that isn't there is point-to-click to move in action mode. The tactical camera is also being addressed. It's still not intuitive for me, but I did get a response and they're sifting through the building pages on the Beta thread.

This is going back to the discussions during and after release in Nov.....  but that ^^ is even more damning on Bio's part regarding the choices they made.

RMB still does exactly what it did in the previous games.  If they simply programmed the LMB for the same function (W or move fwd), it'd be perfect!

But instead, in DAI, holding LMB down now along with RMB does this:

master-sword-swinging-o.gif

What kind of an idiot makes the decision to remove an entire navigational option for a useless function nobody asked for?

The kind (and several of their kind) don't understand the Frsotbite Engine. You've got A and AA talent trying to make a AAA title using a vast and incredibly complex engine. They'll get it right. I also get the feeling that there are a lot of eyes and ears on this group pressuring them to make it right. I'm telling you... I should've been a prophet. If they waited six months, this game would NEVER have gotten the NEGATIVE attention it has earned. Bioware's intentions are still good, but we're not seeing the results. Also, if I had my way, I would've booted whoever was in PR and HR at the start of this mess for not anticipating the backlash. There is no way that they didn't see it coming. NO WAY. However... we're getting vindicated. Eventually.

@Cyan Yeah it's work-in-progress, but personally when I have to choose between launching the beta (8 hours in) or continuing my normal game, there's no doubt I prefer the beta ;)

By the way, the DLC is cool. I haven't had issues with it at all and remember, I couldn't get a playthrough completed until January 19th. A solid two months after release. I'm on my second playthrough using the beta and it's still a chore until the controls are made right like previous titles. It's too clumsy to play with a M+KB. I wouldn't doubt the QA said, "Screw it! Plug in a controller and tell them we didn't..."

I am not sure if you can tell anything about it, im not even sure you can tell what youve just told but is there changes to tac cam?

Yes, they feel a bit more intuitive to use with a keyboard and mouse. I don't know how much I'm allowed to tell you. But let's just say it's looking a little bit better. But not quite there yet, hence the "still needs a bit of work."

Sorry I haven't posted much more, now that I haven't been getting Direct X crashes anymore I've been playing.. (err testing) the game a lot more!

Same here. I only start my game accidently now. I hope I can copy my save file and use it when the official DLC comes out.

I played the game for around 1 hour and stopped after getting annoyed from that and will stay away from it for some time again.

I made that decision after 1 hour as well.  Not an hour playing, but of reading reaction from the people on this message board, just after midnight on Nov. 18th.

Dodged that bullet, and after 3 months, when I reinstall and start my game, I hope to benefit from what's happening now.

As for the auto-attack failing, seriously they need to lock the team in a room and force them to play DA2/DAO using KB+M

100% this.  And maybe some of the new programmers will even know how to make it work.

I really hope you are a freaking prophet!

And yes agreed.  Of course they saw it coming.  That's why the 5 months leading up to release were 98% console UI and 2% PC demos.

I don't know about the NDA stuff, but things that have been lacking (except the mouse issues and all that entails) are in the patch. So far, so good. My troubles as far as system stability is concerned has been addressed. It's getting polished and once they master the controls, we're going to see why this game earned GOTY. I have a lot of games on Steam, Ubisoft and Origin and I constantly come back to Inquisition. To be honest, once they master the controls for M+KB, they're going to have a serious platform for upcoming titles.

@Cyan  Agreed. The beta has been very stable and performance has been better due to a few changes.   I'm pleased with the progress thus far.

Well, we haven't been cleared to say what is in the patch at all beyond the Black Emporium which is advertised but, I will say that it's good (ignoring things I'm confident will be fixed pre release) I'm smiling and enjoying playing on nightmare with KB+M. I think y'all will find it's better that many think it's going to be. Not perfect I'm sure but, it's patch 5 and only 4 months in so, it's one heck of a good step in the right direction.

I do not get the hate for the beta program - its what many of us have asked for!

And it doesn't jeopardise other players experience - it only improves on it.

As for the auto-attack failing, seriously they need to lock the team in a room and force them to play DA2/DAO using KB+M

They just need to add the tac cam functionalities (auto-attack/click to move/interact) into the action cam.

How does auto-attack beta work without click to move anyway?

Regardless I'm glad at least several members here are in the beta, I missed the window earlier to join due to work, so I hope you guys can guide them to fixing this console port.

I'm all for whatever makes the game "better" but NDA's and secrecy do not in my opinion help anything, and on a patch of all things..

Red tape seems over the top in this company..

Really?

I came off playing DAO and DA2 just before I installed DAI.

The KB and Mouse controls were simply not there with DAI.  I had a hell of a time understandding "what was wromg with me?". It is a PC game after all... that is, until I understood that the KB+M controls were changed. drastically, I might add.

This i relate too very strongly, after DA:O and DA 2 the controls in DA:I were like night and day... totally different.. in a bad way.

I honestly hate almost everything about them in the third game, the last two were fluid fun and easy to use.

I know its a big ask but did they finally remove the tactical combat abomination?

Not yet, but it's being actively addressed. It's not intuitive for me, but there are improvements. I can confidently say that they will make it right once the point-and-click-to-move on the mouse is fixed. That's the big problem. The mouse still needs to be addressed. Once the mouse issues are addressed, the game is going to be fun to run through again. Everyone understands this, especially the developers. It's apparent they're overcoming a learning curve that took four years and four months and counting...

Thanks all you beta testers! I for one am glad to see progress being made. So we weren't talking rubbish since Nov 18!

This has been a disaster in HR/PR for Bioware, but it does seem that cooler heads may have surfaced.

Fingers crossed.

A lot of things people have asked for are being addressed, perhaps not to everyone's satisfaction when it's all released but, certainly improved, in many ways. I'm not going to reveal any details but, it is a patch worth waiting for.

I agree. The patch a lot of us are waiting for (the mouse issues) is not this one. It will come, though.

How can they not know how or not have time to add mouse bind keys....

We don't know how it has to be implemented in the engine, perhaps, to avoid confusing the engine and, prevent other issues it takes more trial and error to add that. It will come, give them time to get ti worked out so that it works properly when they do implement it.

DAMN - Ive been on Vacation and didn't know about this beta patch  :(

Why the NDA? I don't care about "new " features they don't want to spoil, I want my spoiled $80 game to come back and redeem itself

So...... can we at least say If im an SLI  user, will I finally get to enjoy my game I payed $80 for? I cant see how anyone telling me that my money wasn't wasted is breaking some silly NDA .

You owe me Bioware , one $80 game that doesn't have a horrific texture flicker or a blinding white fog . You have my money, I want my game, that was our deal

I'm glad and hopeful to see Bioware is working on already identified features such as auto-attack, subtitles, graphic settings and storage chest, but there is also some NDA-covered stuff that's important for me on PC, so I have to say both ;)

Can't answer that, NDA you know.

Sorry!
