I´ve been away for months, so i am unsure how things have changed for the PC version since release. Could someone please make a short overview of what has been improved since release?

I´m specifically concerned about: no autoattack -> button smash, terrible camera (nothing like DAO one), game freezes and perfomance.

Thank you in advance.

You seem to be under the impression that I've thrown away my keyboard, and that I'm now forced to do everything with a controller. It's a USB connection, not super glue. All I've done is add another option to how I'm able to play games - and that's the beauty of being a PC gamer. The freedom to choose. I don't see how adding an alternative control set is lowering my standards.

If all we were talking about was adding options, I'd agree - but we're not. What you're suggesting is that we give up an option; that we abandon an alternative control set; that we lose the freedom to choose. As far as lowered standards goes, that seems to fit the bill rather well.

This isn't even one of the times where a controller confers an inherent advantage, like a racing game or a platformer or a flight sim. No, in this case the controller is better only because the PC interface is FUBAR for no good reason.

Should I be all happy and grateful when someone gives me a wheelchair if they were the ones to break my legs in the first place? I think not.

So things that do not get fixed as one wants in this current Beta falls on the shoulders of those that participated? Good to know....

As for reality, hope the gaming Mouse re-mapping does get patched soon, as such gaming equipment is expensive, and should be able to be utilized efficiently. While I am good with the basic set-up, it would be irritating to have better gear and not be able to use it any better than a default mouse.

Good try but no cigar for you ...

It is quite evident that the participants in the beta test are performing their due diligence in reporting their findings thus dropping any and all responsibility for getting things fixed (or not) back where it belongs, on the developers.

Evidence? Posting here is not properly reporting bugs, quirks, and issues, and some posts appear to violate the NDA which may create problems for any later invites.

Hope things work out well for all, and I don't smoke either....

Here's some of the things I've personally found as important improvements on PC. I used to crash a lot around cutscenes/dialogues, hence why I have these fixes in my list :)

Added key binding that allows players to walk.
Added mouse cursor scaling.

Changed Tactical Camera so that it no longer re-centers when the player changes party members.

Added an option to enable / disable tactical camera on mouse wheel scroll out.

Pressing the interact key (default “F”) will take everything from containers.

Hiding the HUD on the PC will now hide all UI elements

Fixed some hitching in conversations.

Assorted stability improvements

Fixed crash that could occur after some conversation

There's an upcoming patch 5 which among other things will give us:

Auto-attack key for single player

Option to adjust the size of subtitles,

Shader quality setting to the graphics options

Storage chest

They have to fix the mouse controls and allow binding to mouse buttons. This shouldn't be a debate. This will be on Bioware until it's implemented. The game isn't broken anymore... It's still incomplete. DLC is on hold for most of the PC community until it's fixed. Of course the apologists and fan boys will say different. I'm just not seeing this product as finished. It's like being forced to beta test a product without actually agreeing to an early access version. Patch 6 better have the mouse fixed so I can point and click to move or steer with both buttons and use the side buttons on my mouse.

As far as I'm concerned, what's in the Beta testing phase right now is for the devs and us tester eyes only PERIOD. I think the test is going well and, we are being heard, our suggestions considered and, many of them implimented.

I don't expect this patch to make 100% of you 100% happy with the game, that's unrealistic but, I do expect it to make a lot of you happier with the game. I don't even expect it to make me 100% happy as in "Okay, game's done, it good, leave it alone." no, there will be more that needs attention, but it doesn't all need to be done at once. This beta is a big step - or a lot of smaller steps, however you want to see it, in the right direction and, is going to make the game better.

How much better is subjective so, that's for each of you to decide once the patch goes live. for me, a lot better but, that's me, my rig and, my play style.

If the leaks are true, autoattack makes your character slice the air periodically. This will be pretty far from 100%.

At this very moment the changes to the things you mentioned are: 0. But you can walk now. Some sort of autoattack and possibly tac cam zooming is coming and noone really knows jack*** about upcoming performance issues. Some beta testers (beta test for next patch is happening right now, featuring the autoattack and possible tac cam zooming in terms of control) say its better some say crashes are still the same. I spared you the bs talk. This summs up what you are interested in. End of the beta test and ETA on patch is not public.

I think the beta is going in a good direction.  It won't make 100% of the base happy but there is a lot of improvements.  There are things that still need to be addressed but I'm liking what's been done so far.  I fall in the low end of the hardware pool, but I find myself very pleased by the performance now vs release.

IF leaks are true, leaks that should never happen. Might be best to wait and see huh? :)

To be fair, it is a beta. Wonkyness is expected. Any problems found are likely to be fixed before they release.

If they don't, then feel free to call them out on it. Until then, though, it's best not to take anything in the beta too seriously.

We're still well within the, "Why wasn't all this there at release?" hole. I'm certainly not going to be much pleased until Bioware can patch themselves out of it.

Yeah, I do agree with you there but I've decided not to be pessimistic and do my part in making this a better experience.  Hopefully that will be the case, and a few more patches will get it to where it needs to be.  I'm actively going into every nook and cranny of this thing right now.  It's definitely work but I think it will be worth it if the effort makes it better for everyone in the end.

I was so disgusted by the SLI only texture flicker and white fog bug and the way DA:I tricks FPS programs/console cmd fps counter ( 2nd monitor lol not overlays) into saying its running at 60fps when its clearly not ( really evident on larger 50-80" HDTV) I stopped playing right away.

Maybe I didnt really notice the KB and M issues - Can someone explain exactly in a simplified form , what is it that is so ***** up with them? The only thing I did was program my 12 Razer Naga buttons and that seemed to work just fine. So what is the issue with no bindable mouse buttons? Why cant you just use your mouse's software to change em?

Im not trying to sound like a **** or anything , I just really sincerely want to know what the issue is with KB /M

I believe the primary issue here is that the left and right mouse buttons cannot be mapped in the games' options.  While I do agree that any decently half baked mouse config software can map any mouse button to anything, its a bit odd to go mapping left and right to a keystroke just for the sake of putting controls in a spot one finds comfortable for game play.

You're not wrong. Even people without special mouse drivers can use something like AutoHotkey to rebind buttons as they see fit. Of course, they can't change what the buttons do, but it's possible to get pretty close. And, to be fair, if non-rebindable mouse keys were the only problem with the game, I'd deal with it.

Unfortunately, the lack of rebindable mouse buttons is only the tip of the iceberg. We have an entire playstyle or two missing. We have missing features. We have hot and cold running bugs. We have terrible UI and controls. We have vomitous piles of MMO-esque fetch quests. We have a take-it-behind-the-shed-and-shoot-it tactical mode. We have a dialogue bug that may exist or may be intentional. Hell, I'm sure we have a lot of other issues that only crop up in actual play.

And on top of that, we have a walk toggle that took a month to get in, and was still outdone by a mod. We have non-remappable mouse buttons that apparently take months to fix. We have patches that need their own patches. We have mods doing what the devs haven't, and they're working with WD40 and duct tape.

From my perspective, Bioware is having a rather large amount of difficulty implementing what should be low-hanging fruit. Button remapping should be a cakewalk. A walk toggle should be easy as pie. How in the hell are they going to implement a whole different control style if they have so much trouble with these basic things?

So....yeah. I want to like the game. I want Bioware to prove all their PR bullcrap true. I want a title made for PC gamers. I'm giving them a chance even though I don't actually believe they can pull it off.

Sucks, but here we are.

Since my only joy in Inquisition is crafting I stopped playing till the next patch because I'm pretty sure it will be relevant for crafting.
But hey, don't let people know I actually like this game I go through superhuman lenghts to convince people I hate Inquisition on a mental health hazard level so it is our secret.
Also having lots of fun with the mods, game is a lot better.
2 years from now I guess modders can save our lives.

I mean there is even mod to make controls better!

What if they paid modders money to save their sorry asses? Could be fun!
The best mod of this week as of now is instant harvesting/looting, no stupid animations and stuff.

They wanted so bad to become Skyrim I think they will get what they want: A so-so game that is only interesting with 500 mods.

But seriously, don't let anyone know I play Inquisition, it is NASA-FBI-Pentagon level encrypted secret.

Okay, got it NDA applies to Katorkires playing the game as well. :)

Hey maybe it's better for old farts. I mean yes there is a lot of room for improvement and, there are a couple of workarounds that help but, the game isn't horrible. Yep that's it, can't play on PC unless you are 45 or older and, have been gaming on a pc since 1980 or earlier, then you're okay with the PC game. (Yes I'm joking.)

Why are you all still calling patch 5 a beta? I mean its a patch. The 5th one. We shouldn't have had to "Beta" test a patch at 3 months after release. These issues should have been dealt with over a year ago.

Shouldn't we be calling it gamma, delta, or even epsilon at this point?

We should be calling it what it is - a work in progress.  Beta...whatever.  I've been recently encouraged that they've enlisted some of us to test the game - BUT haven't they been doing THAT to us all along?  ;)  We've been test subjects and unhappily so.  They're trying to fix things and appease PC gamers, and I'm glad that our voices are heard.  Obviously, it's not quick enough for most people - including me.  I preordered and have played 2 hours of this buggy crapfest.  We all want more, but it seems like they're working on trying to appease us.  Point to click/loot/move and auto-attack would be instrumental in repairing PC gamer's trust's.  Sounds like our feedback is getting to the developers...maybe one day, I'll be able to play this game as I expected.   It's easier now, as I've emotionally moved on.  I saw this game as DOA.  It would be nice to get some value out of the $70 that I spent.  Plus, I really used to enjoy Bioware games.  It's obvious what has happened, and this franchise is on the downward spiral currently.  Maybe Booware is feeling guilty, or it's just the constant pressure that we put on them.  It's probably somewhere in the middle.  I just hope that the company keeps trying to improve this game for the PC experience.

lol my bf and I had someone over for dinner and he spent most of his time when he talked about DAI, complaining about the PC controls and the useless filler quests in the map ruining the game, that he now hates (and the MP being broken and poor outright, in several ways). He was done with Mass Effect after 2 and it looks like he's done with Dragon Age after DAI.

I can only have hope for the future. And it is easy to - DAI has some amazing, really fun elements and sections. Its too bad about the rest. I don't hate DAI myself, but there's just so many issues. Regardless, I still personally like it more than DA2 and I do think that patches and both free (ha! I can wish and hope) and paid DLC will resolve many things, as long as Bioware is able to and chooses to go for it.

I don't want to give up on Dragon Age, because I personally have some crazy ass theories that would make me deeply happy for potentially *years* if even a fraction of them are true. So do it for me, BW ;)
