Why.. In te name  of all that is holy, w ould you endorse the unprofessional behavior that has been shown here, with another purchase??With that action, you are telling them, what theyre doing is ok... Im completely dumbfounded...

This was not an attack on yu personally, but EA will never change, if you  continue to give them yiur hard earned money...

That is a very very good question.  But here's the thing.  Agree or disagree.  EA already took my money.  They gave me a NON WORKING PRODUCT.  And I know that EA will not fix the PC version.  At least not satisfactorily.  I already gave them free money.  "Here, take my money I want the PC version."  And now that PC version which no longer works is now a coaster on my coffee table.  So...I paid $70 for a coaster.  So as twisted as it sounds, yes, I bought a USED copy of DAI (if I remember right EA does NOT get the money off used games, though I could be wrong). And I paid SONY money for their console (but I was looking at a new console anyways to replace my XBox 360).  But what I bought I KNOW works.

But let's look at EA.  Despite what we do, they are going to continue doing this.  They are phasing out the PC version of their games (slowly as Cyan posted about from PAX South).  They want to focus on consoles and mobile.  So let us be very honest with ourselves.  ANY port they do will be horrid for PC.  Because they no longer care about PC.  Did they care about PC, why are they asking PLAYERS to beta test their patch?  Why do they not have their PROFESSIONAL people do it?  Probably because there is no one left and they do NOT want to pay for another team to do it.  So, they look to the players.  Will they take what the players say to heart and actually make the PC version work great?  *shrugs* I don't know.  I can't answer for EA.  I highly doubt it though.  I hope I'm wrong and they do.  But...from past experience, I won't count on it.

I do NOT condone what EA has done.  They lied about the PC version and for some of us, gave us nothing for $70.  Nice looking coaster though.  EA is going to continue this business practice.  Oh we can sit here whine, ****** and complain until Doomsday.  But words on a forum won't mean a thing.  I sent a letter to EA.  I sent a notice to the Better Business Bureau.  But I'm just one person.  One person does not change a thing.  But at the same time.  I now know better about EA.  Will I buy DA4?  No.  Because of this business practice, I will no longer purchase EA products.  And I hope I at least cheated EA a bit by buying a used version of DAI.

I think most of us are just lamenting the fact that Bioware used to make PC games, then port them to consoles. Now that's it been reversed, we cry a little inside.  :crying:

They make a game for consoles ON PC's and then port the console game back to PC.

That never has made any sense to me, and makes NO sense at all for PC game "made for PC gamers by PC gamers". :pinched:

I was only saying that while having a toolset apparently helps, it's neither ethical or wise to wait and hope for a dedicated member or group of your community to decide to fix all your screw-ups, you apparently all-ignorant one :)

Touché!

anyone else worried that the next ME game will be a cheap console port optimised for AMD cards? I mean Nvidia has 80% market share on PC, but Xbone and PS4 are AMD so we wont see any optimised drivers.

After 4 months of waiting for PC menus, DAI still crashes with Direct X errors on my Nvidia System. It sucks.

Don't think those AMD/Nvidia numbers are remotely close but that's beside the point.

I will not be buying ME as long as the group of people is developing it and EA is publishing it. I like a mouse and keyboard and these two seem to have no interest in providing a proper PC game.

Mid-March. No need to be that pessimistic.

Plus, if they need more than a month to test a patch, it better be a goddamn good patch...

If I'm wrong a lot of people will be happy. If I'm correct there will not be a drawn out sigh from me. Nor a "I told you so", so don't dread that.

lol this game still is not finally patched? :D

end of march pillars of eternity is out and the beta showed it will have everything da:i is still missing. great ui, great tactical depth, complexity, great writing, difficulty and the beta got nearly no bugs. and the best, its a game for pc players. when da:i is finally finished nobody will care about it anymore, bad bad move bioware. the next real crpg is around the corner and it will be great

Please no giving accolades no matter how richly deserved until it's within grasp. Reinforce lessons learned thus far. I must now... meditate to reduce my lust for a game that is a month away.

hehe i feel you^^ i really dont jump easily on the hype train, but after watching hours and hours of beta videos it happened. there may be flaws, balancing problems and even bugs in the released game, but one is for sure, the core of the game is right, not like da:i where the fluffy stuff was great but the coregame was mediocre at best. and now.......joining your meditation

I've never been popular so I'm par for the course. Pretty certain I'm on more than a few ignore lists. I too like high stakes. I believe, though I'm unable to find it, that I posted March 18th. It was a comparison between ME3's launch to EC's release against DA3's launch to Patch 5 release. Let's work out some terms of a bet. Just a friendly one, hopefully funny to vest interest. PM me if you're interested. :)

I think most of us are just lamenting the fact that Bioware used to make PC games, then port them to consoles. Now that's it been reversed, we cry a little inside.  :crying:

I think it's become fairly obvious that Bioware fired all the veteran programmers who knew how to "port them to consoles", and only hired new, cheap programmers whose only experience had been how to produce console versions (Cameron Lee for example).  Then they hired people with zero experience in any of it to make the PC version.

I'm going to make an assumption here, but since they opened up Patch 6 for beta testing, I would guess Patch 5 is coming out in the next few days or next week. Bioware is trudging forward. I have no idea of what Patch 6 will entail, but I am SO HOPING THAT IT'S ALL ABOUT STEERING CONTROLS USING THE MOUSE AND KEYBOARD. PLEASE EA... ALLOW THIS.

Well, it's going to be using the frostbite 2 engine so not really optimized for AMD but not so stable on Nvidia either unless they sort out this DirectX error a lot of people are getting.  I also get the impression that it will be a Xbox One exclusive for a few months before showing up on anything else.  I just have a gut feeling on it.

I think the general consensus amongst the beta 5 testers was that it was indeed more stable and performed better then previously.

I am given to agree that this game will never be optimized for PC. Ever. Made to work correctly? Perhaps, though I won't hold my breath. But never optimized.

Why am I so sure?

Mass Effect 3.

Despite... not promises. Comments... regarding a PC high res textures pack.. it's never happened. Not officially. The game was never optimized for PC. And they did far more DLC and post release PR on that.

DA:I will always look just like a lousy console port because that is what it is. A console game with lots of ideas but no actual follow through.

Skyhold.. ugh, what potential wasted. Oh sure, I bet anything there's a future paid DLC coming that gives us actual changes to Skyhold... not just pallets vs. dummies, scrolls and potions vs armour racks, or a few extra pots and vines vs. a chantry prayer gazebo.

I remember my first walk to the war room... and seeing that large hole. I was so full of anticipation. I would SEE the rubble clear. I would see the holes fill. That dungeon! I couldn't wait to walk in prior to passing judgement to see my enemies behind bars. Or, to face the inevitable enemy raid that must come from those blasted cells open to the world beyond.

Dungeons stayed empty. No nifty battle to be had. No frontal assault or sneak attack. No significant upgrades whatsoever. Hell, I have all the lumber and quarry's but the point? After those minimal upgrades I have no use for further resources. Poorly planned. How can there be no additional purpose for these resources? Other keeps, camp improvements (forts), or... you know, closing the damn holes in my walls.

So much potential, no punch.

Development does not happen on a console platform, its the case with all games even ones that are never ported to PC (to the best of knowledge).

I signed up with a lot of hope that it's all about mouse and keyboard controls. If they get this into the patch then I will be satisfied with Inquisition and the groundwork is laid for future titles.

Oh Bethesda can't code for ****, to bad they make excellent games that are worth the money. Skyrim can be just as crashy on its own without mods compared to a save with 200 mods. To be honest DA:I is kind of amazing if you actually remember that they had to remake the entire gameplay to fit with a new engine, that takes work. People seem to think video game developing is easy, it is brutal.

but they didnt make it work.. And the things they couldnt make work, or didnt feel like trying, they left out..

But agree whole heartedly on Bethesda coding.. Skyrim was pretty bad for PS3... I didnt notice at 1st.. But once my save files got beyond 10gigs....... "poop.. Meet, fan!"Bethesda is one of the developers with whom i have naught but disdain for.. EA> Activision>Bioware>Bethesda> Capcom...  Blizzard.......Used to be greats, but unfortunatelyhave succumb to the almighty ddollar!

That is how i do it as well.. If its a game i really am interested in.. Used, is the ONLY means by which i will purchase.. I will in no way send support to these companies.. I actually had no intentions on buying Inquisition, but my wife listed it to my mother as an Xmas gift.. I learned my lesson with DA2, and the ME series.. I  loved ME1, but felt ME2,3  turned more to 3rd person shooters, than the rpg experience i felt when i fired up ME1 on X360!

I do not agree however, that you do not matter, like the words on these forums.. While we catch flak for doing so, this is word of mouth (typing :P).. We are further spreading awareness of this company.. Myself, and many other people DO NOT, purchase EA products.. My Signature (shameless plug).. Its going to make a difference.. The only difference that matters.. If it wasnt for thse Bioware titles, i wouldnt care less.. But i Love(d) Bioware games.. They were the measuring stick, by which i compared all rpg's, for many years! They set the standard, and its fallen.. Fallen LOW! I... We, will not sit idly by, while one of our most beloved developers gets rung out, like a dirty dish rag, of every last drop of talent, professionalism, and passion for their titles! I love gaming too much... It, along with my children, have kept me sane, out of prison, clean, and sober for the last decade..

We CAN make a difference, if we stck to our word.. Anyone who lived before the turn of th century saw consumer backlash have positive repercussions!
