You had me until, "I much prefer the UI in Inquisition". There's no way this could be better or express a tinge of PC utility?

Spoiler

I know it's a couple of screen shots of the console's UI but there's only one difference between that and the PC version. The button cues. Imagine the amount of data you'd be able to consume given the full breadth of controls at your PC's disposal if menus featured more than seven items at a time. Imagine the power! You're not wrong in liking it but I am trying to overtly convince you otherwise. *crosses fingers*

Oh God!

MY eyes ... MY EYES!!!

... I had almost forgotten how ugly that is. :pinched:

I'm glad for you. None of that matters because the combat is floaty, goofy, dorky, unsatisfying, has no "umph". In my opinion. So there you have it, we disagree. Care to try to talk me into something I've unbiasedly experienced for myself? Not going to happen. I much prefer the UI in Inquisition. No mouse cursor issues. Don't use the tactical view - at all. I care as much about your reasons as you care about mine. I'm sure that theme can be repeated for many of us. I enjoy all three games, they all are fun to play. Inquisition is my favorite out of the three.

Can you be happy for me too?

Pretty please with sugar 'n' spice?

Because I found Origin's combat ever so much more satisfying and "umphy" than having my melee fighters windmill at empty air while my mages and ranged fighters rush  into close-combat.

All with the same beautifully rendered butt-ugly, overblown animations.

I much prefer the UI in Inquisition

We cannot possibly take you seriously as a PC gamer after THAT.

Origins combat was slow as **** for juicy console action, cant deny that. They just went... well they quit, but the new people went for a controller gameplay from the modernized Baldur's Gate gameplay and pretty much left out the rpg. DA was a tactical rpg and it turned into an action game. I dont blame anyone for liking an action game, i personally like CoD but i dont want to buy a CoD turned into a ****** RTS. Same goes for DA for being and action game.

Btw peope still are arguing the fact that the UI is a console trash? Its a console trash, lfmao. I dont even think going further into how the game mainly consists of mmorpg collection bullcrap. Noone cares anymore, because even fixing the controls to become a decent pc action game became only a hope.

That might be your closed minded or unexperienced conclusion, but I care about the reasoning behind an opposing point of view, because it might refine or further my own.

I agree that the feedback in combat has much more punch, but the surrounding mechanics lack the finesse they once had.

Origins had a good console UI and a good PC UI. Bioware had obviously spent the time to think on what worked for a console, what worked for the PC, and made the best they could for both platforms.

With Inquisition they made a good console UI and didn't bother with even attempting to create something decent for the PC.

I first played Origins on my 360 and never once, even after playing the game on my PC, felt limited about what I could do. Camera pull-out aside of course.

However with Inquisition I feel that limitation no matter if I use a controller or keyboard and mouse. Just picking on powers and abilities, with Origins on the console I had my quick powers and could switch to the radial menu to get to every one of them. Why on Earth can't I do that with Inquisition? Why let me build up a selection of great abilities and then deny me use of some of them when I may need them the most, is my character meant to just forget they have those talents?

Downgrading my opinion as close-minded or unexperienced is uniformed and haughty, to say the least. You should probably just chalk it up to different tastes. That's my reasoning behind one not making assumptions about the state of my open-mindedness or experience. For some people, one strength will be another's weakness. A lot of people, for instance, don't mind the "floaty" combat at all, while in my case it really bugs the crap out of me.

Finally... wer'e back home!!

We had some good times and we had some bad times.

-The bad was a 4 hr flight delay  to Costa Rica... snow related

-The good was free food and booze and sun

-The bad was the waiters have no clue what a Black Russian is supposed to be. The guy insisted that a BR was made up of the local coffee liqueur  (ergo the black) plus milk (maybe the Russians are white?).  When I said give me a BR with Vodka + local coffee liqueur + dos cerezas, he looked at me as if I came from Mars. Bottom line, you can't find any cherries in Liberia, Costa Rica. :)

-The good was the nightly shows... some were excellent

-The bad-- one restaurant 's (reservation required) food was awful.

-The good their buffet have good food.

-the bad- hotel departure was delayed two hours... not bad.. we drank the free booze at the bar. Plus another hour delay at the airport due to passengers being sick... so baggage had to be removed from the plane.

-The bad... on arrival, overheard the plane's captain mention to the ground crew that one of the engines stalled...  but only after we landed.. thank the Maker.

-The bad - hotel checkout was at noon and we arreived at home the next day at 6AM. My internal clock is really

out of whack....

I'll be catching up on the DAI status .. probably take a day or two...

Welcome back Jedi Sartoz.

Please refresh our memory here:

Who came to the "PC Concerns" thread to tell a bunch of complete strangers how much they love a certain console game ported to PC and it's console UI?

And then you want us to think you don't care ...

And no one wants to take away the advances that were made in combat-design. Why would an improved and optimized PC-UI that is reminiscent of Origins take away from that? It´s not about the one or the other but improving instead of downgrading.

Tain't all that early Brother Griffonclaw, we're up and about.

And hard at work already. (4hrs into my work day in fact)

Is it just me or has the whole idea of a "work ethic", and ethics in general, taken a drastic turn for the worse?

Yes. Without a doubt. However, I blame leadership and the lack of unions, the lack of real HR, the lack of a lot things that motivated people into working harder for the greater good. I've worked for the most vilified (and judged rightly so) industries (insurance and now oil) and I want to burn myself alive some days. Some of the STRAIGHT-UP-THUGS that I work with wear ties and others with tattoos. Did the Rapture occur and I got left behind? WTF. Dude... the video game industry is headed in this direction. Gaming journalism? HAHAHA. EA. Those two letters says it all.

I blame parents like my step daughter - the TV and tablet are her kids' parents, not her. They have no chores, no schedule beyond "get your butt to school." and, no rules other than "don't bug me." Then we wonder why they get jobs and think it's fine to do the bare minimum needed not to get fired? Too many taking the "Oh, it's good enough" attitude when they could do and have better.

Sadly, that's evident in games today too - good enough is all many expect anymore, even when better is possible.

If I had settled for good enough, I wouldn't be where I am today - more than comfortably semi retired (working a bit here and there because I want to) and, I'm not even 50 yrs old yet.

The UI sucks and is not up to the PC standards (no matter what Darrah or Laidlaw say), it's pretty much an established fact.

Opinion; not fact.

When the MAJORITY of owners of the PC version  - those playing the game with KB&M, but even some playing with controller - all complain about how poor the UI is, then it is no longer just opinion.

Then it DOES become FACT.

So deal with it, Bioware apologist.

Well, the PC UI functions but, it is lacking and definitely could be a lot better. It's a simplistic console UI, understandable because for some reason PC should be identical to the console version. I don't understand that mentality but, that's apparently what games are going to these days. Yeah, cost effective not to customize a game for PC, and make it suitable for consoles and controllers but, cost effective does not mean best for sales and brand loyalty in all cases.

I do not play many other games other than cRPG's, but the DA-UI is far better for me than Vanilla Skyrim. And the latter UI was also playable; have 700+ hrs on it before replacing it with the SkyUI mod. Perhaps it is not optimal, but is hardly the stereotype many seem to be making here. IMO, of course.

It's 2015.

It's time for gamers (console and PC alike) to start demanding more and better, not "settle".

It's time we demand to get what we're paying for, not be satisfied with paying ever more for ever less.

It's time we demand the truth and stop excusing, and making excuses for, developers and publishers (and reviewers) that lie to us.

It's time we stop asking those same developers and publishers for more every time they screw us over and instead tell them "no more".

It's time to stop with this twisted Stockholme Syndrome tendency to defend their laziness and greed.

It's 2015 and instead of making any effort to advance and push the limits of the gaming experience they do just barely enough to get it "out the door".

AAA game creation may have just become to big to support its own weight.  I draw parallels to my own experience as a technical manager in the IT department of a large bank.  The focus is all on "time" with quality being given lip service but rarely followed through akin to "putting lipstick on a pig".  Projects costs over the past 10 years or so have risen by several magnitudes, changing a link and a banner pic on a web app costs 6 figures, lol.

It is 2015 and frankly to me its never been worse.  The pendulum will likely swing the other way at some point.  Voting with your wallet is the only sure fire way I know of to speed it up.
