I realize most of the people saying to plug a controller in to play are trying to be helpful but, honestly, if I wanted to play with a controller, I wouldn't play on my PC. I'd buy a console. Most reasonable people would expect to purchase a PC game and have it optimized for playing on the PC. Imagine if console gamers had to plug in a mouse and keyboard for better gameplay, they wouldn't appreciate being told to just do it. Yet, some people think PC gamers are being unreasonable in their expectations.

its pc gaming 101
people just think that pc gamers are unreasonable to expect a game would be optimized for their platform, with good control using a KB+M
plus everyone knows that using a KB+M to play pc games is so 2009, "real" pc gamers use a gamepad (mostly likely a 360 or XBone controller)
enfact all future pc software should require a gamepad to use; why KB+M, laptops and desktop should just come with a gamepad im right or what /s

PEOPLE, PEOPLE!!!
I get bad FPS but is not my pc, is the optimization in the game. (i can run Battlefield 4 VERY SMOOTHLY and so many games, im usign a 660ti and it's a very good video card)
Must people say the game runs FINE, but is not true.
In my case, the game loading time takes too long and some areas have FPS drops (even at LOW my game run a 14-19 FPS).
THIS PROBLEMS wont happen in highly core i5 i7 with nvidia 900 series card.
The game doenst run properly in Nvidia 600 series or below. You will have FPS drop, even at LOW settings.
I'm gonna give this game 2 weeks or refund. SIMPLE.
GOOD GAME, but this freaking issues, ¡YOU PAY FOR A GAME, DOENST WORK PROPERLY!.
I wanna play, i can't explore because everything looks awful at low and i still get FPS drop with Windows UPDATE, NVIDIA DRIVERS, OPTIMIZATION GEFORCE EXPERIENCE.
Enough.

I still can't play the game.
Constant lag with gtx 760 MSI TF OC + I5-4570k Processor + 8GB Ram, getting 18 FPS on lowest settings. No heating issues on a clean PC that has no problems with any other game. Direct X and GPU drivers are all updated as well, so I don't get DX crashes it just closes without any reason at all. Game crashes every 5 minutes or after any multiplayer game
Extremely long loading times, stuttering, and other smaller issues.
Please update the game to be in a playable state, this is hurting your reputation.
In a 660ti I GOT THE SAME PROBLEM.
LONG LOADING TIMES.
FPS drops in some areas.
It took me 1 HOUR to find the forum just to post what i think of your game.
Bad Press, contained. Not looking good for you Bioware.
Every reviewer including Totalbiscuit use a nvidia 900, the game runs fine in those.
For everything else, RUNS BAD. So Fix it !!!
The 30 FPS LOCK, also FIX IT, you do it bioware, not the gamers. YOU DO IT.

Well, I finally stopped fighting reality and plugged in a controller. The act of playing the game is greatly improved, the controls feel much more intuitive and fluid and say goodbye to the search sonar! Tactical camera is functional in outdoor areas although it's still not ideal and I although haven't looked at it inside buildings or caves yet, I imagine it will still be problematic.
In short if your major issues are mouse and keyboard related, go with the controller, your life will be better for it.

Pretty much this, I guess it's kind of like Dark Souls in that it's just better with a controller... but the PC controls should be near the top of the fix list.
To be honest, UI/Controls should come after the following bugs in my opinion: Quest Bugs / Ability Bugs (Fortifying Blast/Gathering Storm et al) / CTD Bugs.
The controller was obviously how BW envisioned people to play the game, and while that sucks for KB+M only people, it was kind of a design decision (but a bad move considering their KB+M lineage eh).

i must say, i am baffled by all these negative posts about bad performance or bad kb+m controls, yes tac-cam can be quite clunky but i don't see it as a reason to ask for a refund.
It may not be reason for you, but it is reason for me. After 12 years of PC gaming I know that keyboard movement is, to me, both frustratingly tedious and hand-cramp inducing. I can't tolerate it, believe me, I've tried (someday, Mass Effect...). Our gaming habits are in a realm of personal prerogative that really aren't subject to comparison to anybody else. Apples and oranges, as they say.
I'm not on a witch hunt, I don't hate Bioware (heck, I was part of a group that sent them cakes, I kind of adore them) and I'm not here to be negative. I just want them to know I'm concerned that I spent $70 not knowing that they removed a feature that made it possible for me to play on PC, and that, after a year of closely watching development, being on the forums every single day, I didn't know about it. Thank the Maker I made my refund window! What if I hadn't, and I was $70 in the hole for a game I had no idea when I'd be able to use, if at all?
And as for that: I didn't want to refund my game because I gave up on DAI, I wanted it refunded so that I could pick up another version on a platform that I *could* play it on. I can't assume that it isn't a permanent design choice, and I really really want to play it like I planned next month. I'm glad you're enjoying the game and I'm really, really looking forward to enjoying it too. ![]()

For everything else, RUNS BAD. So Fix it !!!
What a nice advert few days from Christmas !
I've got myself an AMD R9 290 and I have no trouble at all running the game with all graphic options pushed to the max even the multismapling.
Bet what my GPU is a bit underclocked to save some power.
I had some troubles the very first time I ran the game with mantle (freeze and so on) but I used the lastest drivers from AMD after a CLEAN uninstall on the older ones. (using DDU)
about the FPS lock for Solo play : -GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+ (add to the end of your exe shortcut)
I blame more EA/Bioware for PC controls. Dice engine is quite fine.

I don't get how the game could have been released in this state. What was actually happening during that delay? It certainly wasn't fixing the peformances issues, bugs, glitches, stuttering, 30fps cutscene lock, making useable PC controls or any other kind of optimisations. I can only imagine how terrible the game was before that delay.
I don't even want to imagine the state it was in before they delayed it.
My own personal guess is they were busy slapping on this mediocre tactical camera. It just functions so poorly that it feels like a rush job.

I realize there's alot more involved in the algorithm, but aside from a bump in brightness, what else exactly is the mod doing? Perhaps it was the scenes you chose, but the increase in brightness was all I could manage to see.

My guess would be optimizing the multiplayer.
The pc controls and tac cam were likely assumed to be "fine". There was no negative feedback explosion yet, so why would they spend time on it.

However, with that being said I still have to say that I'm extremely disappointed with the way Bioware released this title. My big beef is of course with the m+b controls. I won't go into it because I'm fairly certain that everyone here is familiar with what I'm talking about. One of the previous posters mentioned that there is no possible way that anyone at Bioware even tried playing the game through with a mouse and keyboard and I would have to agree with assesment. It's brutal. Is it unplayable? No but its so bad that it pretty much sucks every ounce of enjoyment out of the game. I played for maybe an hour (aside from character creation) and I had turn it off and walk away. How Bioware went from the playability of the previous two titles to this I don't know. Well actually I do have a suspicion though, those damned consoles!
And this is where I find myself thinking, "If Bioware put so much effort into gearing this title for console platforms to the point where they've basically destroyed the experience of playing on a PC with a m&k how much do they really care?". Why would you release the title like this in the first place if you really valued the PC gaming community. Not only that but more importantly, if Bioware is so concerned with capturing a chunk of the console market with this title how long exactly is it going to take them to patch the PC version of the game? I think it's pretty obvious that we're not really the top priority here. How many patches will be released for the console version before we PC gamers even so much as hear tell of the PC patch? I've heard promises of "speedy" fixes to debilitating issues before only to be terrably disappointed ..... months later. I'm sorry but I'm not naive to the economics here.
Also, I'm having a hard time understanding how Bioware is going to fix this. This isn't bug its a fundamental issue with the game mechanics. We went from two previous versions of this game that were designed around point and click auto combat to this. Gone are the days of clicking a target, taking it down, and then clicking the next target and seeing your character pull off some bad a@$ maneuver as he/she leaped/rolled/spun to attack the next bad guy. It was nothing short of amazing gameplay and we loved it! Now we have ... well a character who basically acts like theyre blind and retarded as they swing a weapon back and forth only to have the target move away while we keep swinging because it takes a few attackers to stop when your holding the botton down. No kewl manuvers between targets or anything of the sort in regular attack mode. How do you fix something like that? Sure you can patch in an auto attack but I have a hard time believing it will ever come close to matching DA or DAO.
Sorry I'm trying to sound like a pessimist here but it's hard not to. I hope I'm wrong, I hope get a real fix to these issues (namely the conrols) and not some hap hazard solution but I'm not holding my breath. Right now the only fix I want is a refund, at least until an official patch that addresses these issues is released. Right now Bioware not only has our money in their pocket but the will be collecting interest on it while we sit patiently for .... weeks .... months ... over a year ??? to enjoy playing the game we spent our hard earned money on. Again Mark, I appreciate you coming on the forum but this game should have had some type of mention that you needed a controller to play it because as you can clearly see people are not happy (understatement) with the m&k controls. That or else you should have never have released it in the state it's in.

Say...even if they fix everything except animation and dialogue...could the game be rated above 7?
Remember animation and party banter in DAO...party camp...Morrigan's tent...Morrigan talks...we see a flicker in her eyes and
tone of her voice unmistakably says the Warden got lucky.
Compare that with what we see in Inquisition...a party of misfits...looking ugly or ill or damaged...spouting banalities!
In olden days Darrah's party took pride and joy in creating their characters.
Why did you let the Blight set in Mark?
I stopped playing the game afraid Morrigan will come eyes bloodshot, cheeks bloated...
I could not stand ...I could not understand Morrigan ugly!

This guy tested a ton of CPU and GPU combinations. Resolutions he chose were a little weird to me, but whatever. Anyway. You can see that this is a pretty bad port, in terms of the performance they are getting out of high end hardware. The best CPU+best GPU could not get constant 60+ at 1920x1200 Ultra settings with 2xMSAA.
tl;dr Game is CPU bound on Medium and below. GPU bound on High and above. And DRM sucks for paying customers.

Just completed the main story (PC, 60hs, hard, mostly rushing to main quest with sidequests as necesary), and loved the game every penny.
On the 60 hours I played, I just had one crash, I think it was the time EA Servers went down for a while.
My main wish is to be able to distribute attribute points manually, the system is there and it is ready, it seems it was made to be that way in the first place.
Secondary, improvements on tactical camera of course and smoother and more intuitive pc controls and interface.
Third, being able to walk!
Fourth, remove the annoying origin sounds!

Same here, I have a GTX 660 OC, low fps in open or dense areas, everywhere else 50-60fps. I also can play BF4 on Ultra/High with no problem. There is something weird with the terrain, vegetation, and water settings, on low I have 38-40fps! on high and just vegetation on medium I get 50-53fps. Anyway if the recommended spec were been a 700 or 900 GPU family, I will not be so angry, I will be just glad that my GPU could even start and play at Medium @ 30fps.
BTW if you wanna gain +10fps, turn shadows and effects to medium and use SSAO... the game will look... well... kinda ugly, but hey! you gain 10fps.

Seeing as they most probably knew about all of the problems and bugs 6 months ago when the production budget ran out, and the advertising/hype budget kicked in. The patch should have been virtually ready from day one.
For them to pretend ignorance, and act shocked, over the glaringly obvious bugs and problems is pathetic.

Please excuse my naivety, but having previously played and enjoyed the Dragonage series with no problems, i went and got Inquisition today without bothering to read the very fine print of minimum requirements on the back of the cover, after trying to get it going i was given the error message, " looks like you are using 32 bit " and game willl only run on 64 bit, my windows 7 installation disc only appears to have the 32 bit version on it, ( was a copy ) so i could not upgrade it by rebooting with disc in, is there an easy and cheap fix, or should i return it until i can afford a new pc ?
