If you don't mind broken mods and super shiny hair, the patch is pretty good! I just got a bit annoyed that my graphics seemed to drop, though I have them on Ultra. I think it has to do with the Shadow slider.
Okay. This is a longer post, so bear with me.
For anyone here who isn't aware:
The new shader settings have replaced using meshes/textures for some graphics and scars and whatnot. They have been designed to improve stability for people who want to remove the "shiny" and have trouble with performance when meshes are on ultra, and will actually mean people can put their meshes/textures on LOW and their shaders on HIGH (or above) and get a similar "look" to meshes/textures on ultra/ultra. Before people get annoyed with Bio, please play with your settings for a while--taking special note of your shaders--for best result, they should be at "high" or above.
Check your shader settings before saying they broked it, guys. ![]()
The images below are the ones I produced during the P5 beta to compare the differences. (AMD card)
Pre Patch 5 (no shaders):
Settings:
Mesh: ultra
Texture: ultra
Shadow: Low
Shaders: (did not exist)
Patch 5 (shaders added) comparisons:
Settings:
Mesh: Low
Texture: Low
Shadow: Low
Shaders: Low
Shiny! ![]()
Settings:
Mesh: Low
Texture: Low
Shadow: Low
Shaders: High
(Note that this is virtually identical to my pre-patch picture despite all of my mesh/texture settings being on LOW instead of ULTRA)
Settings:
Mesh: Ultra
Texture: Ultra
Shadow: Low
Shaders: Low
(matches my pre-beta settings but with low shaders)
(note that the details are not great--and shiny--check eyebrows particularly--with shaders on low even though all meshes are on ultra. NOT as shiny as "all on low" but will be distinctly noticeable if shaders are not adjusted before entering an existing game--remember they will be on "low" as default, usually)
Settings:
Mesh: Ultra
Texture: Ultra
Shadow: Low
Shaders: High
(matches my pre-beta settings but with high shaders)
(no need to add anything except to say that if you have a low-performing machine, this is not so much better than "all low but high shaders" that you can't adjust your meshes/textures down to enhance game an fps performance and let the shaders do the work, instead
And another, different char, with scars:
Hope that helps.
