They didn't 'brag' about any such thing. They mentioned in a video that the Frostbite engine developers told them that the engine would not render quadrupeds and that they had to work closely with the Frostbite guys to get it so that it would.

BTW I suspect that there is a similar engine limitation responsible for the stupid solid camera in Tac Cam. Frostbite was made primarily for first-person games so the camera represents the player, who can't go through solid objects. They either ran out of time to fix that issue or thought they could get away without doing it.

BF4 has helicopters, helicopters fly, helicopters are not affected by rocks on the ground, noclip could've been used to avoid ceiling collisions... Really, there are lots of ways of making a flying camera, none of which were used in DAI. The cursor is there mainly because a gamepad is not a mouse, something was needed to actually interact with the world.

They haven't run out of time, they totally thought they could screw us with this piece of garbage console port.

My take on the mouse look would be to have the ability to swap states of the mouse between camera movement and UI interaction.  Currently, one has to hold right mouse button to move camera and let go of the button to interact with the UI.  Why not provide a toggle to reverse that, do not need to hold right mouse button to move camera and hold right mouse button to interact with UI?  Or is this how its implemented?

Yes. You press the key and you just move the mouse to look , just press it again ang go back to moving the cursor. You have to bind a key first, of course.

Just stating the facts. The only PC element in this port is a tooltipless action bar, the rest is 100% identical to the console version down to the gamepad controls they've simply slapped on the keyboard (couldn't even spin your character in the inventory with the mouse for the first month).

Thanks, that is close to what I was saying but not quite.  Matters not though.

Helicopters don't fly indoors or in forests.

Noclip might have avoided collisions but you'd still have an opaque roof.

I didn't even mention the cursor.

I've mentionned helicopters, but you can also make a really small object that could be used as a floating camera (or a kind of spectator mode). As for noclip it only shows that the tac cam was thrown in at the last moment, they could've easily implemented transparent roofs during developpement if they weren't as concentrated on consoles. Laziness and console money are to blame here (maybe also EA pushing the release to before christmas).

Mmmm true. So many modifications to make a square peg fit a round hole. Even then it's really jammed in there.

Giving up and going home does two things.

One, it justifies all those smug jackholes who love to slither in and slop their crap all over the place, and how much more fortunate/smarter/better than you they think they are;

and two, it justifies EA's deceptive half-assery.

Here's a radical idea:

Stay and complain. Complain and keep complaining and punctuate your complaints with the sounds of your wallets slamming shut.  Maybe they'll realize that it's actually more profitable in the long run to have happy customers willing to pay than the quick one-two "bent-over-in-the-alley-blackjack-grab-and-run" business model they're running now.

This model exists because we allow it to exist.  It's easy to say "I h'ain't buying no more!" but you and I all know that it always comes down to "well, maybe one more, it's been a while" while the slick marketing and deceptive vids and weaselly wording stroke and schmooze up to your money and then wham-bam-eff-you-gotcha-again and the cycle continues as they run to the bank with the sucker cash firmly in hand.

Frankly, we deserve this garbage and being treated like morons by the devs.  We keep letting them get away with it.

Honestly - look at it from their perspective - if you hang a sign out with a picture of easily-made, cookie cutter gold-painted crap and a lot of shady superlatives and some cretin continually comes to your door, holds his wallet open and insists you take however much you'd like, why would you stop? You only notice when that idiot wises up and stops coming.

The sad thing is that this isn't news to anyone with the ability to breathe oxygen.

Round and round it goes...

I wonder how many have already sent EA their banking info ... :pinched:

I really hope there's a different team working on the next mass effect and they'll talk to us. Given the only PC thing they need to get right is, NO FRIGGIN MOUSE ACCELERATION OR SMOOTHING IN SHOOTERS YA MORONS, i can work with crappy UI (and there's no need for a tac cam) if the shooting part is done right.

Made a thread about this in the feedback session, I don't know if it is the right place but

it seems the new patch messed things up with scars. On character creation scars are not showing up, none of them

And please please PLEASE give us more hair styles because I seriously have to chose the least worse of them, which is between 2, one half bald and 1 full bald

Cool, will try it out, thank you!

Fair enough, I was more thinking about how they went out of their way and promoted the game as a PC game and how the control scheme worked on the previous installments on PC vs console. I admit I just assumed Bioware wouldn't scrap their entire control scheme from previous installments, I thought that was just common sense. (don't fix something that ain't broken)

Edit: And no, I wouldn't call these changes that they've done innovations... Cause there is nothing wrong with innovation.

We assumed the same about DA2, ME2, and ME3 didn't we?

This is getting to be a bad habit that I intend to break, now.

EAware's continuing devolution of gaming has got to end, but as long as we reward them for it they will continue.

More $ for less is what we will continue to get until WE stop giving them the $.

How much less do you want?

I've seen both yes and no. I'm afraid it's just as subjective as the occurrence of the banter bug. So let's suppose it can be cured psychosomatically. Yes. There are FPS improvements. Now run off and try it with that in mind.

Not yet, Dragon Age 4 will be the FPS.

Hahaha.

This may be due to the new Shader option added in Graphics; related to the Plastic hair solution. Setting the Shader to High or above, and using Texture and Meshes as high as one prefers seems to be recommended. Check other Techie posts on the subject to confirm.

There's a new shader option, you might need to set it to low, restart the game, set it to high/ultra and restart again.

Latest patch gave me a helpful boost while using current settings. Also recommend setting Effects Quality to Low; less disorienting for myself, and makes the spells and smoke more natural in appearance.

So far I'm happy with the new patch. I wish I could put valuables in my chest but on my next playthrough I'll have a better idea of what I can sell, so maybe it doesn't matter so much, *shrugs*. I will admit I don't use tactical camera that often, so I don't know how much affect the zoom slider has for me personally. The first thing I did after it was installed was to change my shader to better match my mesh and texture levels. Now that I know some people have issues with scars I'll need to check that. My Inquisitor's scars are not terribly obvious so I didn't notice.

And I love the new tint table! And the auto shoot, though I think I better remap a key or two.

I'm sorry if others are disappointed. I've only played a couple of hours since the patch so I hope that doesn't mean I just haven't run into trouble yet. Soon I will finally finish my first game (not counting one I abandoned until some information is confirmed). I'm kinda hoping that the Black Emporium will be done in time for my second one.

********

I've used the auto shoot, auto-attack is more accurate, a bit more. I still like it a lot it but it is more useful in some situations than others, which is fine. A new tool and not a replacement. However, I think I found a bug. Daikeer Lavellan is an archer with the Evade skill. When I set up auto attack I can select Long Shot, Elemental Mines, etc. without stopping and restarting the auto attack capability. Evade completely pauses the action. I even tried clicking a spot to select a direction (which I didn't have to do before) but left click or right click the game stays paused until I get out of auto attack. This of course makes Evade less useful because of the delay.

And I think my gameplay is smoother, less stuttering. Cullen and Cassandra still have their scars. Their have been a couple of times the game just stopped running without any warning, but I am an obsessive saver.

How is non-transparent roofs a console feature?

Not how I interpreted his post, it said to me that they could have incorporated transparent environments for tac cam if they were not focusing their time working on console aspects.

My average FPS while gaming is pretty much the same, but even so my game runs better - how's that make sense?

Monitoring my CPUs I've seen them jump up and down like crazy in the previous versions, from 10 % to 90 %, to 10 % to 90 %... Going back a few months you'd have seen me screaming about poor optimization, mages and templars doing a little 'speed run' in the main menu, and stuttering during cutscenes. I still get this, but only on the rare occassion.

Monitoring my CPUs in the new version they stabilize around 30-60% when I enter the main menu, no more jumping crazy, and no more hitting 90 % after that (well only rarely anyways). So on my PC the game runs better :)

Complaining does nothing. You vote with your wallet; it's the only thing EA understands. Look at all their titles. Look at how rushed they all are. Look how they weather the storm of complaints, and just do it all over again on the next title. This is their business model: build it, hype it up, release it in time for a nice end of year stockholder review, and ignore any complaints.

The only way this will ever, ever change is not through anything "Vocal," but instead "monetary."

Don't pre-order anything (ignore the hype ... some gaming companies are really good at that).

Wait for release ... watch the reviews ... then buy if you like what you see.

I'm buying a PS4 for FFXV, Wild and No Man's Sky, since they are exclusives,  the bonus is I will be able to buy EA games for it second hand, so they never see a cent from me again.

Feels good, it does. Kind of like getting my own back, won't take me long to recoup the $90 I blew on this pile of PC poo.
