The only thing they can ****** up in ME is the story, oh wait they already did... Kidding aside, yeah Mass Effect is certainly a much harder game to screw up gameplay wise.

Though there were a lot of changes in ME that wasn't related to gameplay or story that was not very reassuring. Like how Shepard made decisions and said things that you had no control over whatsoever and how the dialogue with your teammates were fairly limited outside certain plot points. The next ME is the last chance I'll give Bioware.

Well, it definitely will be console-centric first, even if Bio did say ME4 will be MASSIVE.  If the PC controls are not done properly, I will bypass the game. There are, after all, other fish in the sea.

Inquisition is massive too. LOADS of mmo collection system. My guess is ME4 will be a carbon copy of Inquisition but with guns and mako.Plus possibly 50% of your companions will be gay. At least.

Seriously, though... that inventory system. Whoever decided to implement that on the PC needs a slap.

You mean counselling (with a shrink) don't you?

Remember, Bio asked the launch date to be delayed for one month. This tells me the game was not ready for prime time and that whole month was just one huge debugging effort... which also means DAI was a rushed console-to-PC-port in order to meet the launch deadline.

Really, it's not rocket science, so why do developers keep getting it wrong? Bioware most of all should know how to make great PC controls and UI, instead of for instance this horrifying inventory screen

The simple answer is that a one-size-fits-all UI and control scheme is cheaper and faster to develop. Lowest common denominator and all that.

"Lowest common denominator ", yeah not only controls and UI have been designed to cater as big a crowd as possible, but also plenty of RPG features have become too laid back in my opinion.

Origins had a lot of RPG to it, while Inquisition seems more like an action platformer in many regards. But I guess it sells better this way  <_<

@AlyssaFaden, quite true.  I shall henceforth be known as "lead wallet" as pertains to EA.  Then again I have never pre-ordered anything, ever and certainly have no intention to start.  I did however run like a bunny to the store on release day to get my CD copy (since my internets is cr@p).

The straw that broke the back for me was actually a Creative Assembly title: Rome II. The sheer unadulterated hype that went into the months before that premature release was staggering, and the release itself a shadow of former titles. I truly felt suckered. So I started reevaluating what titles I pre-order or purchase close to release date and I started watching the hype leading up to game releases, the promises, the "exclusive content," the incentives ... and then what actually happened at launch.

I really wanted to snag the UFC title released by EA, but I waited ... I watched the reviews, and I put my money back in my pocket.

Same with the latest Assassin's Creed.

And Watch Dogs.

And The Order.

Evolve.

The only reason why I bought DA:I close to launch (a week or so afterwards) was because it had the Bioware name attached to it. I hang my head in shame that I allowed BW to overshadow "EA," because I should have known better.

Too much mad and nastiness in the thread...

Could anyone give me a boolean answer to "is the game worth replaying after the fixes"?

Evolve's actually fun, in small doses. The big thing right now is Homeworld remastered, dat gameplay and difficulty straight from the early 2000

Check out this moronic drivel of an article:

http://www.gamespot....d/1100-6425650/

This is the other half of what's wrong with AAA gaming these days. These utter garbage game review sites.

What BIG PATCH?!? Like this is some major step forward for PCs

What "improvements in the areas of gameplay and stability"

They posted this within minutes of the patch and without testing at all...they couldn't have tested because there are only the very slightest improvements if any...

Even the patch list is just a copy-paste of the incomplete one posted first....

UTTER GARBAGE SITE

Dude, that's Eddie writing, which means copy+paste. That guy is awful. He's constantly being corrected on dates, information... by everyone on the comments section. Gamespot never was great but these days is garbage. Actually there're no big gaming sites anymore. Gaming journalism died due to paid reviews, click baits and social justice stupidity.

Darrah deserves a good ol' slap in the face, with a chair.

No, he needs to get locked in a cell and forced to play this game on PC day after day

1=0

Seriously though, not sure to be honest as its clear that this game is polarizing.  I have not updated my install since Patch 2 and will be staying there at least until Patch 6 given there does not seem to be enough value in Patch 5 for me.  There is no content add with Patch 5 though if that's what you are asking.

Too much mad and nastiness in the thread...

Could anyone give me a boolean answer to "is the game worth replaying after the fixes"?

Yes.

With provisions.

"Worth playing" is subjective.  Is it playable on a PC?  Sure.  From a technical standpoint, yeah, why not - with the proviso of 'it depends'.  I've managed a single complete playthrough without too many major problems - a crash here and there, a glitch, getting used to the clunky control scheme. The mouselook is kinda useless since you have to constantly reset it and the 'auto-attack' is kinda pointless, but they at least exist now.  A pity they couldn't have given you the mouse abilities you had in DA2, but stuff and things are hard.  Or something.  Excuses, on the other hand, are super-duper easy.  And cheap.

All the dense frustration and deep-rooted cynicism of this thread aside, it does work. More or less.

For me, it worked only after I was forced to trash over a hundred hours of attempts.  Turns out, regardless of how many patches there are, the only way I could play with a minimum of fuss was to play one Inquisitor at a time with only his saves in the save folder.  Multiple character saves screw each other over, go figure. One character alone and it rises above frustrating to just ...excruciatingly mediocre.  A hundred hours of gameplay is one thing.  A hundred hours of really fun gameplay is something else.

DA:I is not a hundred hours of fun anything.

Worth replaying?  That's a different story.  Try replaying using a cheat and skip all the tedious slogging and jogging for influence.  How much game is there then?  If I can manage another playthrough I'm gonna give that a shot.  Otherwise I doubt I'll find the fortitude to try it again. No game should invoke you to stop, sigh heavily and envision hours and hours of empty running, idiotic fetching (why wouldn't saving the entire world take a backseat to fetching a ring or running deasil around a statue for another ring?) and then induce you to attempt to weigh whether the bland and short romances and tedious set-pieces are worth the endless jog. Don't get me wrong - it has its moments.  They can be hours apart though and there are nowhere near enough of them.

Were I profondément pathétique or lengthily imprisoned I think the appeal of this game would suddenly brighten.  Maybe.  Wouldn't bet actual cash on that, however.

Sorry, digression, I do that.

Short answer - yeah, it can be replayed.

The real question is - why would you want to?

And with a keyboard and mouse with more than two buttons. Now... that's bordering on SAW-esque brutality.

If you like the story then yes.

If you can accept some things still under improvement and some improvements made then yes.

If neither A nor B is true then no

And who never used a windows or mac in their lives apparently. I mean, how hard is it to understand how menus and list boxes are supposed to work?

Almost impossible, really.

I mean it's not like they program the game on PC machines...oh wait...

Too bad NDA's last for two years. I'd love to add insight from the development cycle. I've little doubt this thread will be around in time though. At 600 pages per quarter, I could chime in at page 3000. Without violating it, I'll say this: Control issues due to controller focus?

I should have known.

So, please enlighten me: WHEN can we excatly expect this last, 4th or 5th (I don't even know any more), patch to come out and finally fix the AI and Tactical Camera once and for all? Please. Any ideas? Have they even hinted us about when is the beta expected to end the patch finally get launched?

Thanks everyone for the help, I've been away from this forums for a while, hence the questions.

Ranged companion AI have improved with the latest patch 5, as has the tactical camera since we can now zoom out far for a better overview (also makes clicking the fade rifts easier). Rest of the AI is still hopeless with friendly fire on, need custom tactics back to save it.

Whatever patch 6 will bring I'm guessing we'll have to wait for about a month, I'm crossing my fingers for rebindable mouse buttons :)

So, basically: wait another month to finally play the game.

I was going trough my first playtrough with the Cheat Engine camera mods, but then I decided to simply stop and wait for the game to FINISHED before I finish it.
Too many games to end for me to play the same one more than once, specially a big RPG. So I rather wait and then finish it once and for all, doing everything (all side quests and stuff, once. Like I did with DA1 and DA2 -- ugh... DA2 was one repetitive, uncreative, game...).
