My fave game of old is, has been and always will be Morrowind.

It was the very first game that, after discovering it, it literally dragged me into a full month of strictly:

- Turn on PC.

- Play Morrowind.

- Turn off PC.

- (Repeat).

No e-mail checking, not even that much web browsing. Just plain and pure hookness.

P.D: All these years, and I still wanna burn all the cliff racers to HELL. There's no word on Earth to describe how much I-HATE-THEM!!!!!

I have Marrowind, Fallout 3 and New Vegas all installed in a 3rd hard drive simply because I keep going back to them and have modded the living crap out of the games. I simply do not wan't to go though the trouble of remodding them.  So I moved everything to a cheap hard drive.

Yeah, for whatever reasons be it avoiding spoilers or corporate tone they need to get back into the practice of releasing demos. Otherwise we are left to speculate on the possibility of deliberate obfuscation. Be it bugs or systems. Another lesson to learn I suppose.

There was a time limited demo though wasn't there? On consoles or maybe I'm misremembering?

They released the game early for XBONE users I believe, by a few days. Definitely NOT any early access to PC. They knew better what that would do.

Ah them were the days when patching a game actually cost us the consumer money £6 per issue of PC Gamer but then game companies did better QC then I used to use a program on my Amiga 500 called X-Copy to make copies of all my games then sell them for £1 each paid better then a paper round lol

That and turning your 5-1/4" floppies into double-sided floppies by notching the other edge to save on discs.

Well they did release a demo a very broken buggy demo charged us all $60 for it and then sat and laughed from behind all the GOTY awards they bought/were awarded from journo's who wouldn't know what a cRPG was if it slapped them in the face.

Pretty much every good review of the game is corrupt because the publications writing are worried that if they printed how bad this game really is that EAware will deny that publication future "sneek peeks",interviews or exclusive previews of future products which will effect their bottom line.

I've been trying to return to Skyrim modding (also I was an avid Morrowind and Oblivion mod user), but...ohhh, the laziness....

I have at least 20 mods which are completely essential to me, plus the Unofficial Patches. And then I'd have to look for the best male body/face/warpaint mods, then some armor & weapons, questmods...then clean them, organize the load order...it's a lot of work :/

I may do it some day, when I finish my Mage Nightmare playthough (once and for all, if the Amulets of Power f****** bug lets me begin it). I mean, I barely touched the Dragonborn DLC, and it'd be a waste :)

Can someone point me at a thread where we discuss PC issues and bugs with Dragon Age: Inquisition and not what video games we played in our youths, or what other games we enjoy? Those are fine topics, but really I'd like to find out more about PC issues with this game, what has been patched and what hasn't, and what new issues have cropped up in the latest patch.

...I can't say you aren't right :D

Well, anyway, according to an EA support thread and my own testing, it seems that the Amulets of Power bug is limited to pre-patch 5 savegames, much like the "0 AR for crafted armors" bug that happened a while ago. I'm waiting for one more test by another user in order to pretty much confirm it.

Ok back to topic?

What are we waiting for?

For four months?

Ah the PC menu patch.

Still waiting.

Let's change the topic.

There are very few sound effects from games I can vividly recall so many years afterwards. There's of course the Pac Man "waka waka" sound and then there's "eooohhh"... It haunts me to this day.

[edit]

Everyone went topical while I hesitated posting. Uhh on point, on point... Any beta 6 leaks? You guys are really sticking to that NDA assuming it's still actually running.

I loaded an in-progress save, and Cassandra's amulet shows up in the Fallow Mire (I have a new save for every time I enter an area, so I used the same one from when I picked it up in Patch 4), so I'd say it's back to unconfirmed. You need to check Valammar, the Winter Palace, or the Western Approach (those are ones that I know are missing for me).

Strangely, the two valuables that normally spawn with Cassandra's amulet weren't there (the amulet is the only thing in the chest now).

The user I was talking about didn't found Cassandra's amulet with existing saves. So it's either only affecting pre-existing games randomly, or all games randomly. And both options are a facking mess (BTW, I also found only the amulet).

I'm waiting for him to report on Valammar, but honestly, even if he does find Varric's, I don't know if to begin the game now or wait until the next patch. And I'm getting tired already of having to decide about that instead of FREAKIN' ENJOYING THE GAME.

One thing is for sure: I won't buy another Bioware game until at least 6 months after it's release.

well that was the original purpose of the threads creation By a Bioware Dev but alas all those GOTY awards went to their heads and they think the game is perfect, the short answer is the game is broken the patching teams breaks more things with each patch and hasn't fixed any of the major issues because aparently fixing glitches and exploits is more important than say oh I dunno giving us a decent Tac Cam or a UI that works for M/KB instead of a straight port of the Console UI but I digress..............

I can only speak to my own experience, and a playthrough started on 11/24/14 with a Fallow Mire save from Patch 4 has Cassandra's amulet in its usual spot in Patch 5 (though, as noted, the two Chantry-related vanity items aren't in that chest anymore).

What video card and driver version?

If it's NVidia, try running the last 344 release. You can also try turning down post-process quality to medium or lower.

I know I would occasionally get the driver to stall (actually BSOD) at the war table in Skyhold (it never happened in Haven for some reason), and the only fix was to downgrade to 344 (it can still happen but almost never does) or turn post-process quality down from high (my guess is that it was something with the DoF blur, since I'd also seen it freak out in the gas at the Western Approach). You lose some performance going back to 344, but I prefer that to needing to constantly mess with the graphics settings.

I wouldn't be so worried about it if it wasn't because at least two reported missing amulets are Inquisitor's (the one in the Fade and the one in the Oasis). Haven't heard anything about the one in Crestwood.

Returning to Skyrim seems more appealing with each passing minute....

We knew that (Blackwall's is reported to still show up in Adamant). It's just that most of them seem to be missing now (the ones you get from looting anyway).

The amulet in Crestwood is still there (it is by itself now, if that wasn't always the case).

I would try turning down post-process quality first (there's lots of blur in that cutscene IIRC).

If that works, you can at least get in the game; if you keep having stability problems, you might want to downgrade to 344 (which is probably the driver you were using the last time you played).

If it doesn't work, I'm not sure what to suggest. Most of my issues before had just been generic CtDs (though it's been quite some time since I've seen an actual crash) and the odd freeze every now and again, so I haven't been keeping up on all the various issues that may exist.

I think it was always alone...

Anyways, it's way more dire the fact of the amulets missing than some random loot. There are more than enough RNG chests in the game, but amulets are limited.

Of course. I just noted it in Cassandra's case (in the Mire) because there was usually Chantry paraphernalia in the chest with it (lest you wonder why an amulet for Cassandra is out in the middle of nowhere for no reason at all).

So they're doing something to it, even though the amulet is still there.

Do you smell what EA is cooking ? Patches to fix broken games as paid dlc ! *soon*

Ok, jokes aside ... I think that even if they fix those damn broken controls and implement the at--the-moment-nonexistent-tactical-mode the game won't be worthy of a "triple A" price.

I mean, I don't know how many of you have completed the game but I did ... and it has been pretty disappointing.

The story is a 10 quest chain with a recycled villain , not that I didn't enjoyed it ... it only felt exceedingly short, and that feeling is worsened by the lack of thrilling side-quests and the overly of fetch/chore quests (it's like the inquisitor's real race is the mabari ... go fetch this, fetch that ...the feels of a mangy dog ...those chore-quests just keep swooping down on you ...).

But maybe it's just me ... maybe I'm just angry because I forced myself to play as a gollum ... er I mean a Dobby ...er an elf ..

I'm just going to go back to the good old days for a sec, then back on topic... yes, I promise.
morrowind, what a masterpiece. from a time when games had to have depth, because they couldn't dazzle us with shiny graphics, and particle effects. (though I think morrowind did have particle effects, iirc)

now back to the topic at hand.
I was waiting for patch 5 to launch before getting back into DA:I, think i'll wait a bit longer...
