Is this guy for real? Was he homeschooled or something?

Eh.. perhaps a proper PC UI interface along with Keyboard and Mouse controls will strain this generations' learning skills. Hillerman may have leaned on the Bio game designer to do the "proper thing" to avoid getting over that 2 hour upper limit.

Apparently. I suppose that goes hand in hand with schools no longer teaching cursive writing - it's just to hard for kids to pass if they have to learn to write, so they don't need to learn that. Next it will be too hard for them to pass if they have to learn to add 1+1 so, they won't need to do that either. Eventually there won't be any need for a school except as a free place parents can send kids to sit around and learn nothing while they go to work and do nothing, because that's all anyone will know how to do.

What ever happened to "You're not stupid, figure it out before I make you figure it out." [parent with belt or paddle at the ready to child trying to play dumb.]?

Sorry for the mini rant but, the way our society is dumbing down everything in the last few years aggravates and disappoints me to no end.

It must be something in the water. Either that, or people squeeze too hard and are pooping their brains out.

Agreed.

As one member of the PC Community, I wish to offer an apology to those that may believe I try to speak for them. While my game works well and continues to improve, there are numerous varied systems, and each have there own strengths and failures with the game. Hope they will get things working well, too.

And I wish to offer a similar apology to Bioware that may believe that others here speak for me. As my game continues to offer enjoyment and entertainment, I simply wish to offer a simple message of Thanks, and hope the future DLC and patches will better this experience. Kudos!

"Go pick up a copy of Dragon Age: Origins and try playing it with Dragon Age: Inquisition fresh on your mind. If you're a fan of the series, you may be able to bear through it, but the game is significantly less forgiving in numerous ways."

A few months ago this would have made me angry but know its just amusing! :D In some way its ture. Inquisition made me never ever touch Dragon Age again. Except if it becomes and FPS with crosshair auto-locking on heads when i hit tab. Im sorry, correction: when i hit A! :D. And pure awesomeness must be coming out of my machine-laser-gun every single time i hit it.

I wish they'd get over the too hard to learn. A good game is one that I can play for six months and still find something new I didn't know about before. 1-2 hours to get comfortable with the basics is about right but, there should be a lot of tricks and little things left to learn after that.

Hm..

My past posts gave due were it was deserved.  Is that seen as cherry picked praise?

No. I made it perfectly clear in my last post that it wasn't. However, bitching about the cheese shield as some sort of major problem is. I don't think I can be any clearer than this, really.

Hi. Not having a go at you! But you do need to understand that a lot of guys have been here since 18 Nov or earlier. We have been through 5 patch cycles. BW has appeared here what 2 3 times. We have been shut down once. We were very pleased when Alan Shumacker came on line. But since then nothing. The PR skills of BW are none existent. Most guys here are pro Bioware (for the moment), but have been treated with little or no respect. We are not hellbent on complaining, but are hellbent on getting a game that at least works.

Which I completely agree, but I'm just saying that if you blow things out of the water by turning this topic a swearing tree simply to vent out your frustrations, Bioware will never show up again anyway. And why should they? Even if they break their silence and come here with honest to God goodwill to take criticism, there will be many dousches who'll just swear at them over a cheese shield, calling the art designers idiots, saying the game is complete and utter crap and saying they should start from scratch and stuff like that. It will amount to nothing, they will just get pissed or depressed, the criticism will be unfrutifull and many of the guys here will continue unhappy with the product anyways.

With that said, I'm not blindly defending Bioware. They marketed the game as a PC-centric title and it simply isn't, no way around it. As much as I got used to it, it's UI is clearly designed for controllers, it's performance has many weird hiccups on PC and their silence early on definetly contributed for the crap-posting to take over the thread and perhaps the whole forum. What I'm saying is that RIGHT NOW most of you are not helping, and there's literally no reason for them to appear here. They'll just be insulted almost gratuitiously and then feel like crap.

Its probably just Funchal's alt account so he can agree with his own deluded opinion either that or its another Bioware apologist which is possible since these cretin breed like Darkspawn.

Sorry, but life isn't usually so interesting and full of conspiracies as you might want it to be. If anything, the delusional person here you. Refer to the first reply on this post when you think I'm a blind Bioware apologist.

and here I thought I was one of few with the opinion that console gaming has finally ruined it for the pc gamers.now. We get some better graphics but now the games seemed to be made for the dumb button mashing people.I blame the the pathetic public education system we have today.

That and Microsoft/Mac for making PC's operable via button mashing while not requiring one to read or think at all, just aim for a pretty picture and start mashing.

It amazes me how many people now own computers and, don't know the difference between memory and free hard drive space on those computers. I pity the poor computers.

Textures are still flickering on a single 780 Ti on both the latest 347.52 and the 344.75 DA:I launch drivers, which worked fine back in December. Any word about this being fixed in patch 6?

 In Game:

All Maxed except textures on Ultra and, Post Processing Effects Low, Vsync Off. Full Screen

Nvidia CP

Vsync Adaptive

Ambient Occlusion OFF

Single Display mode

I am in despair with this game. As everyone else is talking about the UI (and, yes, I agree it's bad) and the sexuality of NPCs and other aspects of the game that annoy them, I presume that I am now the only one still suffering from constant crashes (not to desktop but to complete shutdown) after a few minutes of play. I have an AMD Radeon graphics card and there is nothing wrong with my hardware. I've put every setting on low or off and even tried to play with the screen resolution cut by 50 per cent but I still crash out after a few minutes or whenever I change maps. When I started playing in November, the game was relatively stable on high settings but every new patch since has made the situation worse. I have been playing PC games for many years and have never ever come across this problem on this scale before. The game I bought is now unplayable and, as far as I can see, nothing is being done about it. And, yes, I've reinstalled it several times and tried to stop patches coming through, but to no avail. I have been a Bioware fan since Baldur's Gate days but I will not be buying from this company again if it fails to address the PC issues caused by its fatally flawed Frostbite engine, forced patches and dodgy Origin overlay. Trust me, absolutely nothing breaks a game more than constant crashing, but judging by recent comments in this forum, I am now the only one suffering from this problem.

I don't think you are the only one but most who are having severe crash issues are using Nvidia graphics cards.  Which driver version are you using, and what model Radeon do you have?  Also, have you tried playing it offline with Origin overlay disabled?

Have you tried Radeon Pro? I have an Nvidia but, this utility offers dtnamic Vsync (similar to Nvidia's adaptive Vsync) and, lets you turn Ambien Occlusion on or off, among other things. Adaptive Vsync, Ambient Occlusion off and, post processing effects off (the last one is in game) have proven effective at reducing or even eliminating Nvidia crashes.  This utility might help Radeon users do the same.

@DarkAmaranth1966   Radeon Pro looks like it's just worth it for the Adaptive Vsync.  I really do like the addition of sweetFX tweaks being in there with plug in support.  :)   Thanks for linking it.

Just trying to get this beast we call DAI on Frostbite working for everyone around here.

I know I'm incredibly lucky (or more tech talented than I think I am) to have it running 100% crash free for me and, I want that for everyone.

Do you remember when MS tried to offload Windows 8 on PC users?

Who had a touch screen on a PC? Removing menus?

Was our Dear Lead Designer inspired by Microsoft?

Scary!!

I agree, Tobyjake that was horrid, and many I know got stuck with Win 8 and no touch screen. I sold a computer over that - bought it for an office computer, figured Win 8 would suffice for that. Got so frustrated and mad at the thing, I sold it two days later, for less than half what I paid for it. It wasn't worth any more than that to me.

Now my gaming rig does have Win 8.1 but, I knew I needed a touch screen for it and, I was determined to learn the fool OS, like it or not. Nex will be Windows 10, and yeah, I'll go for it when it's released. Now I know Win 8 didn't actually remove the menus, just redesigned them so drastically that they don't look like menus anymore and, you have to know how to navigate to them. the Windows button still gets you to the start menu, it' just looks a heck of a lot different, and works differently.

Let's hope Bioware didn't take too big a hint form that fiasco huh?

Maker, help us....

I don't understand how much easier games can get.

They give you a quest. An arrow appears in your mini-map. You can open the map and there will be a huge X right where the quest object is located. You close the map, walk in the direction of the arrow until your minimap shows you a circle or X then you stop and click on something.  That's kind of what most of this game -- and  many others -- boils down to.  When you choose a skill it automatically pops into your skill bar. You don't need to allocate stats. You just need to press 1, then 2, then 3 until something dies.

I mean, at this point, the game basically boils down to "click on this paper, walk toward the arrow, click on that dead body... BING! Great job! You did a quest!" It's as dead stupid as anything could possibly be. So stupid, it's not fun at all. What more -- or less -- do people want?

I've tried all sorts of settings both in-game and the Nvidia CP, but sadly nothing helps. I tried your settings just now and the flickering is still present.

Seems to be a problem for us 780/Ti users.

GRR, you know I used to love Nvidia, refused to buy a Radeon GPU ever but, anymore, they are going downhill and Radeon is going up. I think my next GPU will be a Radeon.
