If there turns out to be no story DLC for this game, I will buy a hat and eat it.

As far as I'm concerned there will be no DLC for me for this game since for me I am content to stay with  patch 2  I wont patch by game for fear of any game breaking bugs. And by the time any DLC will become available I'll be gaming it up with Witcher 3.

How is the wings expansion? I have it but got bored of the long uneventful space truckin trips or hunting for bounties.

When were you last on? The previous two updates have upped the interdictions to the point where I'm being pulled out of supercruise just about every flight lol! I long for uneventful! Seems everyone is back in the cockpit since WIngs, haven't had a chance to try it myself yet, (coz LIFE boo!) but people seem to be enjoying it.

Why aren't you already playing Eve Online? :)

You could take a look at Elite Dangerous in the mean time - it's up and running already, though the FPS module is still a little way away. We've just had Wings (co-op) released though and the FPS is next cab off the rank I believe. I have SC as well, so it's not like I'm dissing it, but you can currently explore, trade and dogfight in an open persistent (procedurally generate) universe with ED. Look into it carefully though, it's a hard game with a steep learning curve and has NO story but the one you make up for yourself, but it's great fun if it's what you're into. There's loads of Let's Plays on Youtube that give you the idea and you can learn a lot from the official forums. :)

No FPS in EVE online as far as I know. The only thing that could drag me into a space MMO is a mix between space exploration and fps combat. That's why I loved ME1 so much, despite it's relative simplicity on that matter.

Also, the EVE community has created quite a bit or arseholes (see #1). I already have problems wrapping my mind around the idea I'm breathing the same air as that....thing. Like hell I'm gonna play the same game as it.

...Elite: Dangerous seems an interesting prospect, thou.

Just waiting till POE is released. Maybe Patch 6 will do something?

Skyrim is very good, but not Dragon Age. At least it has mods!

I think everyone else is in the same boat, waiting.

Didn't know about POE and have just checked it out. On line information is sketchy but I loved BG and NWN2. As the gameplay looks similar to both I might give this a shot. At least I don't have to worry about system requirements for my ageing pc which is just above entry level for DAI

Hope the RPG holds up!

Elite Dangerous

Is it worth it? I hear all kind of weird stories that you need a controller to pilot your ship efficiently. Is it so?

Wasn't it the new EA CEO who stated that every EA game will have multiplayer?

And there are Bioware guys still around that haven't committed sepukku?

Loads of people play kb/m, however life is better with a HOTAS. As in immersion is just amazing with a HOTAS. I tried it with a controller- and went out and bought a HOTAS. :)

Seriously, you can play kb/m, controller, joystick- but it's just  better with a HOTAS. :) This guy on youtube posts amazing vids on his channel Adored TV, look him up and start at the first beginner tutorial and you'll soon know all you need to know to make a decision. :)

I don't get why people keep saying this game is such an awesome financial success.  It really wasn't.  It kept Bioware off of the chopping block, which was its purpose.  That axe fell on Maxis this year.  This game was meant to be the Bioware apology to the fans after the nightmare and falling out with the community because of ME3.  In that capacity, it was successful, which was critical...  Gamers (not reviewers or critics) tend to see this game as a hodgepodge of mediocrity.  Not necessarily a bad game, but still not the game with the old "Bioware magic".

If the source of this "great success" comes from that ridiculous article about DA:I being the "biggest launch ever", you need to reflect on this...  This game was made for 5 platforms.  That is enormous considering the funding required to do that - 5 systems of all different technology.  What that also means, is that if they can scrape 1 million sales per console, they have every other game beat.  So congrats, you made it.  This game was the only AAA RPG game that came out last year that was worth a damn, so their isn't a healthy buffet of RPGs to choose from unless you go indie.  So in a year that was one of the most disasterous for AAA game launches in the past decade, Dragon Age squeaked by.

Gaider "moving on", the other Bioware title being suspended, complete lack of story DLC for this game other than multiplayer which exists to be a cash cow...  Things arn't looking good for the game atm.  Its all very telling.  Frankly, very little is looking good for the industry this year.

Its true that pre-order packs and DLC can be terrible for gaming, I get that.  I mean, look at me.  Even MY ****** are sore from all the milking.  But this game was in pretty desperate need of it.  Even simple cosmetic stuff to fill in obvious gaps.

This analysis seems to endorse my own opinion of Bioware's lack of directional sense and innovation. Some time ago B came up with something that moved the benchmark up for RPG action adventure gaming. Now they have moved to a minimum risk management strategy in a world that demands an adventuresome spirit in  game creation. It would be a shame if we are witnessing the demise of a pioneering group. Yet with the advent of PoE funded by RPG gaming enthusiasts, struggling as they are Obsidian, are not forgetting what their strengths are and still trying to build on those not invent weaknesses like Bioware. I loved playing BG and NWN2. At least some people are still in the business partly for the love of it rather than a pension pot!

DarkAmaranth1966,

First thank you for you efforts to try to make a better game.

Just a few questions:

What mistakes exactly "don't you think" they will make in DA4?

Why would "they" want to change "them things" now? The game was relased November, 2014.

Could you give me you're view of the "RPG" element of Dragon Age and how it has changed (if at all) over the three games?

Do you see any fundemantal changes in what Dragon Age is over the first three games?

DAI seems to negate many of the "mistakes" of DA2, yet introduces a whole new plethera of "mistakes" of its own. Why would one

believe it would not happen again in DA4?

I like your style, patience, and intelligence. So I am truly interested in your opinion of these things.

Thank you.

My apologies DarkAmaranth1966. I did not mean to put you on the spot. I know you wish you had that post back. I tell you what. I'll do my best to answer the questions and you laugh at me and get back to doing good (really).

I won't answer for you here.

Why would "they" want to change "them things" now? The game was relased November, 2014.

They thought they could get away with it.

Could you give me you're view of the "RPG" element of Dragon Age and how it has changed (if at all) over the three games?

I'll combine these two into one answer here. Do you know who the great majority of people who play DAO and DA2 still are? It's even a higher percentage and numbers in DA2 and it will have yet even higher percentages and numbers for DAI. The answer is the dress-up-doll-and-put-it-in-a-movie-people.

I can see DAO and DA2 like Neo sees the god dammed matrix. DA2 has TREMENDOUS combat problems despite looking pretty on the surface, but who gives a crap because it is time to dress up doll, put it in a movie, and have a romance.

You think anyone at Bioware is aware of this? I do. They are called the smart ones.

DAI seems to negate many of the "mistakes" of DA2, yet introduces a whole new plethera of "mistakes" of its own. Why would one
believe it would not happen again in DA4?

One probably wouldn't.

I only wish you the very best. Sorry for the interruption.

On a completely unrelated note, except in that I am so sickened by DA:I that I've been brought to this... Where does one purchase Neverwinter Nights w/ the expansions? Not on Origin or Steam, and I'm not paying the $60 amazon is trying to sell it for.

Maybe it's just me.  The one Reaper who should have had that epic battle with Shepard at the end (still waiting for my paycheck on that one [hehe, jk]), But this feeling like the ending of ME3 all over again.  Except, it's not the last 10 minutes that is terrible, the entire game is shoddy and from the looks of it, as I stated, support for the PC has ended (a month early maybe from my six month predicition?).  One consoles, the game runs great.  Terrific, spectacular, astounding!  For next gen consoles.  But I wanted to enjoy it on my PC.  And though I was well within specs, guess what, DAI and NVidia drivers don't play well together.  Stuttering galore and no SLI support for the game.  The game went from beautiful at near high settings to being forced to play the game at low or risk horrible framerates.  And I have a damn good gaming laptop.  The tac cam is crap according to many people.  The PC UI is...ugh.  And so gone are the days when great games are made.  CDProject/Red, you are my only hope.  Oh, and it appears Pillars of Eternity is coming out on March 26th.

Define "BioWare guys" ...

If you mean the "BioWare guys" that made great CRPG's, they either cashed out or were forced out. They've either gone elsewhere or just gone.

If you mean the "BioWare guys" who have sold their souls to EA, play on consoles, and wouldn't know a mouse and keyboard or a CRPG if you hit them over the head with 'em ... well they're just fine and dandy and have no idea what your getting at thank you very much.

One probably wouldn't.

Bio Studio will continue to tweak/change the DA  gameplay to meet EA's goals. I believe they are :

1. Cut down the game's learning curve

2. Make it a console action game with even more simplified RPG elements, so that my grandma can play

3. Focus on the Multiplayer game to milk even more money from micro$transactions.

4. Develop a 20-35hr single player core campaign.

5. Develop DA for next gen consoles and maybe the PC

6. Re-cycle the awful animation cinematics to reduce cost

7. Forget about tactics and the tac cam. It is a disaster in DAI

8. Change the Dialogue structure, 'cause it really sucks

9. Maintain strange romance options

10. Use minimal K&M controls and options

11. Forget about filling in the vast expanse with meaningful content and NPCs

It's all about instant gratification for the console users.
