On a completely unrelated note, except in that I am so sickened by DA:I that I've been brought to this... Where does one purchase Neverwinter Nights w/ the expansions? Not on Origin or Steam, and I'm not paying the $60 amazon is trying to sell it for.

Started playing Skyrim Steam version with a shyte load of MODs.... These mods actually change the game for the better.  The HD meshes gives the game the same  graphic quality as DAI and the game remains extremely responsive AND uses up significantly less resources. Some of the modders go to some lengths to optimize their meshes...

I'm just having fun ...

Why Pillars of Eternity seems so distant?
The closer it gets the longer it takes to arrive >_<
I need good old RPG love *o*

Hope it lasts at least till Sword Coast arrives.

I just came across two games that I liked. Dungeon Siege 1 & 2, which I played a few times.

Maybe it's just me.  The one Reaper who should have had that epic battle with Shepard at the end (still waiting for my paycheck on that one [hehe, jk]), But this feeling like the ending of ME3 all over again.  Except, it's not the last 10 minutes that is terrible, the entire game is shoddy and from the looks of it, as I stated, support for the PC has ended (a month early maybe from my six month predicition?).  One consoles, the game runs great.  Terrific, spectacular, astounding!  For next gen consoles.  But I wanted to enjoy it on my PC.  And though I was well within specs, guess what, DAI and NVidia drivers don't play well together.  Stuttering galore and no SLI support for the game.  The game went from beautiful at near high settings to being forced to play the game at low or risk horrible framerates.  And I have a damn good gaming laptop.  The tac cam is crap according to many people.  The PC UI is...ugh.  And so gone are the days when great games are made.  CDProject/Red, you are my only hope.  Oh, and it appears Pillars of Eternity is coming out on March 26th.

http://www.mmorpg.co...-On-Target.html

Good.

My anticipation is under control, though. I will go to the forums and check out what the early "adopters" have to say about the game  before buying.

No FPS in EVE online as far as I know. The only thing that could drag me into a space MMO is a mix between space exploration and fps combat. That's why I loved ME1 so much, despite it's relative simplicity on that matter.

Also, the EVE community has created quite a bit or arseholes (see #1). I already have problems wrapping my mind around the idea I'm breathing the same air as that....thing. Like hell I'm gonna play the same game as it.

...Elite: Dangerous seems an interesting prospect, thou.

Eve really is something you'll either love with a passion or hate. Its depth is unrivaled and learning curve can be very overwhelming to say the least. Its a game that I tried in the past but wasn't mentally prepared for so I wrote it off and tried to forget about it. Then I'd hear stories about something that happened and it would just captivate me. Surely, if reading about these truly EPIC events and a real working player based economy that actually makes sense is interesting, then maybe Eve is worth the steep learning curve and griefers.

Finally after a few failed TRIAL ACCOUNT attempts, I decided after the constant  disappointment from countless PC titles to really give it a dedicated attempt. Best decision EVER!  Eve is actually an extremely deep and complex quality game though it does have some seriously questionable people playing it.  Its really the only MMO that has been sub based for the last 10 yrs other then WoW and it numbers are still very very strong. New players are starting everyday regardless of the extreme advantage 10yr vets have.

I wrote all this because I really wish I would have given it a better more honest effort many years ago when I first tried it but I heard many negative things about its community and learning curve due to its extreme depth.

Though be warned, its certainly not like most games, it's called spreadsheet simulator for a reason :)

TES games never die, they do age however and the only thing that ages them is... ANOTHER TES game, when the modders make the move that is.

As much as I like my modded Skyrim, I still love my heavily modded Oblivion even more. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it crashed a lot...and modding it correctly was a real pain. I never could master Wyre Bash so modded without it.

No, I never did use that mod...the last time I played Oblivion was a couple of years ago...but I'll add that to my mod list when I play Oblivion again. It will help that I have a much better computer now. I did use NMM...I didn't install things manually unless it was required to do so. This is all bringing back some disturbing flashbacks. Modding my Oblivion game was a challenge and once I would start working on it, my brain would be fried by the time I got everything working.  :(

But then I'd have so much fun playing it. :)

I used a lot of those but also would always use Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, Martigen's Monster Mod, Companion Vilja, also a companion named Aron (sp?), and some big mods that added a lot of people and quests. I thought I had them on this computer but never played Oblivion on this computer so I'll have to start over and even download Oblivion from steam, when I want to play it again.

I may have to play Oblivion and Skyrim again, before DA4 comes out...there are a lot of new mods since I've last played them. :)

@Robertmarilyn  Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, and Martigen's Monster Mod don't seem to play very nice with other mods for me.  That's why I don't have them listed.

I agree the mods were better in Oblivion largely I think because modders had more room to do "stuff" particularly animation. I'm undecided about Skyrim v Oblivion match results. Amongst the Oblivion mods I remember were a vineyard/mansion with a small quest which had  totally awesome layout/textures decor and furnishings, while another Lost Paladins of the Divines is probably the scariest mod I have ever played. Chiefly I used mods like Apaachi's massive male and female armour/weaponry mods and those that helped with face. hair textures, etc with a variety of companion ones too. I regret uninstalling it but I still have all the original discs. On Skyrim I'm only running about 50 mods at any one time with my system. Like you I abandoned Wyre bash, but had few crashes

Puts Dragonborn DLC to shame (Lame dragon "riding")! But no problem, there's mod:

Bethesda used to be my 3rd fav dev... after Bioware and Taleworlds, now they are 2nd (Taleworlds with M&B still #1 for me)

Ah... speaking of hair. Skyrim default hair styles are rather dull. However, Modder's hairstyles and their models are just unbelievable! Makes Bio look like amateurs! And don't get me started on Skyrim's human walking animations.. hell, even dancing!.. it's light years ahead of DAI.

So, since it's doable and without a performance/clipping hit, why did the Bioware Studio saddle DAI with such monstrosity?

Speaking of Taleworlds. I want to destroy and raid as a viking in M&B but ive heard the viking conquest standalone is very buggy at the moment. Can you confirm that? I did not play M&B yet because i dont like the setting but i could get into the viking thing, big fan of Vikings show btw. Ive seen gameplay videos and i like it.

I must mod Oblivion- extra points to any fan based dubbing links. (I'm not too fond of the monotone NPC voices, it keeps me from getting into it).

On the NVIDIA board, there's talk of Battlefield: Hardline and DirectX errors, so the toxic Frostbite 3 and Origin combination strikes again. Dragon Age: Inquisition's issues were foreseeable and unless EA can fix the issue with Origin, they need to swallow their pride and either ditch the game engine if this problem is unfixable or sell their Frostbite 3 games on Steam. Fans will put up with DRM platforms, they won't put up with games that don't work properly after a while and their mainstream target buyers won't bother to start with.

Maybe EA needs to quit with the optimizing games for AMD GPUs and, see what happens if they optimize it for Nvidia instead. Might give them a clue as to the problem.

Consoles run AMD, fine but if the game still runs fine on AMD and can be optimized for Nvidia and, stop that crash, the all would be well for EA.

My tea leaves reading skills shows me that EA will have fewer problems with the Frostbite 3 engine going forward. Future games will be developed for the Next Gen consoles because the hardware capabilities (ie: graphics) gives the game more flare.  No Nvidia in this eco-system.

PC platforms will remain problematic if for no other reason than the diversity of hardware and graphic drivers. Unfortunately, any inherent Frostbite 3 engine problems has nothing to do with EA or the Bioware Studio as FB3 is owned by DICE.  I agree with you that FB3+Origins+Nvidia is more trouble than FB3+Origins+AMD.

Hm.. Bioware Studio+DAI mesh optimization+FB3 rendering engine? Naahh... ain't going to happen. Three possible reasons come to mind.

1. Bioware Studio game staff reduction to a skeleton crew, with insufficient knowledge to optimize mesh usage.

2. Inherent BF3 issues, even though Bio is on record that mentioned BF3 is optimized for Mantle = DICE problem

3.  DAI's complexity and sensitivity to changes = change avoidance.

Inevitably (I hope) these issues will be resolved because it is in the best interest of Nvidia and Dice to solve them. Plus EA of course.

I know and they are part of what make modding my games so difficult but I love the monsters that they add and the very detailed characters and quests. It's a big chore to get my game modded with those mods but I wouldn't want to play without them anymore.  :)

I think the huge variety of mods for Oblivion are what have me still favoring it over Skyrim. I've haven't played Skyrim though, since I started beta-ing ESO, so there may be a lot more Skyrim mods now.

I doubt I'd have many crashes with Oblivion now that I have my new computer. I look forward to playing it again (and Skyrim) once I take a break from DAI.
