Well...  is there anything DA:I did right?  What doesn't need to be fixed, but could stand improvement in any future iterations?  We got beta-testies here, maybe they can pass stuff on.  Biowere is supposedly listening, right?

For instance, I'd like the damn Inquisitor to walk faster! He walks like he's storing an extra twenty pounds of equipment up his colon.  I want my swordslinger/rogue version to bolt across the battlefield and slam them Venatori and not putter up to them like some drunken reality show loser.  That's not too much to ask, is it?  They got the dragons right, they did fine with most of their characters (they could have been more, but they can always be more), even a villain or two was worth the effort (although not Corpyphlatulatus, been there, killed that).  The music was good.

Anything y'all can think of?

Is there anything left to say that has not been said a million times already?

Authentic armors? As long as womens dont wear glorified bikinis as armors, its cool. Or is it? B) Anyway, thanks for the info!

Ha! The lack of variety is more associated with having only Nordic or Celtic cultures in the DLC. And don't worry, no bikinis in the VC game, unless you want to go into battle half-naked and die like in... 1 or 2 hits. Wait... there are half-naked armors in VC, for the Celtic men!

Anyway, back to variety, in Warband where there's:

Nordic arms/armor/troops (Nords)

East European arms/armor/troops (Vaegirs)

West European arms/armor/troops (Swadians)

Swiss/Italian arms/armor/troops (Rhodoks)

Middle Eastern arms/armor/troops (Sarranids)

Mongol/Turkic/Nomadic arms/armor/troops (Khergits)

So yeah, VC just doesn't compare with Warband's variety. One thing I really like about it over Warband though is naval combat/animated hairs.

Or just use the Special BB Code Button (third one, top row of reply window, right next to Font) and choose Spoiler then , paste or type what you like in there. :)

Speaking of female armors in games... TES mods being the 'worst' culprits lol, several sexy armor mods are actually pretty badass:

(Old screenshot of my Breton character in Oblivion years ago):

Spoiler

Using Zanbatou from Akaviri Samurai Shop + Shakira armor set (I think) from Goddess Store + Customised DMC Stylish Animations

The armor got ported to Skyrim as the "Silverlight armor set" but I never liked the port, prefer the majestic red and gold.

Not much protection but who cares - its fantasy eye-candy lol!

Ah... speaking of hair. Skyrim default hair styles are rather dull. However, Modder's hairstyles and their models are just unbelievable! Makes Bio look like amateurs! And don't get me started on Skyrim's human walking animations.. hell, even dancing!.. it's light years ahead of DAI.

So, since it's doable and without a performance/clipping hit, why did the Bioware Studio saddle DAI with such monstrosity?

A good question and one that I don't know the answer to. However I will hazard a guess by comparing PC graphics in games like Skyrim, with the visible results of playing MMORPG's (or whatever) like WoW

That's one thing I don't get with DAI as well, animated hairs maybe a small detail but it really adds to the immersion, such as in TW2, TR, or yes -> Skyrim

http://www.nexusmods...yrim/mods/47000

As for DAI's walking/running animations I find them great actually, but that's my subjective opinion.

I think the huge variety of mods for Oblivion are what have me still favoring it over Skyrim. I've haven't played Skyrim though, since I started beta-ing ESO, so there may be a lot more Skyrim mods now.

I doubt I'd have many crashes with Oblivion now that I have my new computer. I look forward to playing it again (and Skyrim) once I take a break from DAI.

There are more mods, but nothing so earthshakingly popular as say 2K textures, Deadly Dragons, or Climates of Tamriel. As someone mentioned earlier, ENB type mods will make your game like looking at re-runs of The 6 Million Dollar Man if you don't have the hardware to handle them. Mod talking generally, I still don't get why such great efforts as made in NWN,  BG2, and DAO  were not encouraged by Bioware. On the contrary I get the feeling that they were deliberately blocked in favour of more than a few home grown DLC turkeys (not generally in ME2 which ME 3 built on). It is almost as if at some point in pre production ME, a conscious decision was made to scrap independent mod opportunities permanently. This could only have a destructive effect on career and experience opportunities for modders. After all it has been proven continuously that independent mods DO improve gaming experience and provide a long term expanding enjoyment. I have played a part in modding and it has been terrific to witness so much talent all contributing to the game voluntarily, and this stuff was free to pc users!

Maybe that's just it as far as EA are concerned. Like buying a kettle in the UK or a washing machine. They are only designed to last 2 years before breaking down . As repair and maintenance is so costly, you make more bucks by selling a new one the quality build for which is even worse than the one you sold before

Well, one thing about DAI cities vs Skyrim cities is that the latter are alive and full of people while DAI is seriously lacking in this regard.

Kirkwall perhaps, but even then I simply placed the folks inside to avoid all of the mayhem, carnage, gangs, and para-ninjas leaping out of windows.

But in DAI, there were lots of folks in Orlais, Redcliffe, and other towns and villages; an improvement from the prior game. And while not all have banter or dialogue, many do have encounter lines.

RE: Skyrim - Also, Gopher has a Beginning Modders series that has several recommendations and tips, even for those that are not beginners. This is a great place to look up suggestions for specific areas of the game one may wish to enhance.

And while I am not a fan of overhaul mods myself, at least SkyRe and it's possible successor PerMa appear to be done in modules, allowing the Player to choose various sections to tailor their game. Believe this is why these overhauls may be more widely used than others.

I don't think it's EA as much as it is Frostbite that is reluctant to see games modded. EA has included the ability to mod games released just a few months before DAI on a different engine.

Yeah, I've heard the "we could but it's very complicated." excuse and, that's all it is, an excuse. There are modders that are tech professionals that, I'm certain could use the toolkit, if we had one, no matter how complex it is.

Might I too ask that this thread be kept on topic?

There is a whole forum to discuss Rim-jobb or whatever it´s called.

I would hate for the excuse to be given to shut this thread down...approaching one and a quarter million views as it is...

I'm pretty sure this is a reasonable request

B)

Just to reiterate for BioWere's benefit; that I am a part of the PC community, that I have grave concerns about DAI and that none of them have, so far, been addressed...

You can't have mods cos consoles don't!! Simple. MS/Sony wouldn't like that.

I am playing NWN Diamond at the moment. It says BW on the title but they had little to do with it I think.

But it is too hard to learn! ROFL!!

The credits show an interesting collection of names.

Yeah, i dont think the console folk are enthusiast enough to desire mod making. Good old hack n slash through and jump to the next mindless thing Angry Joe style. Complexity and having to think is the game killer on consoles D:. EA and its divisions are avoiding it like the plague!

Good news for PC Nvidia graphics users.

Nvidia has released its newest graphics driver = 347.88 WHQL. There is some optimization for the Battlefield Hardline game plus a new SLI profile and support for the new GTX Titan X graphics card. Let's hope it also fixes DAI issues.

Is there anything left to say that has not been said a million times already?

Can't fault that logic.  Too bad, really.

On that note, could I humbly ask that y'all please find something other than Skyrim to talk about?

(Disclaimer - solely in my opinion)

It's not remotely superior to DA:I. It's not even better than DA:II.  I've had more interesting experiences on the toilet.  Skyrim was and is a horrible game.  It's not even a game.  A game gives you action and excitement and really wild things. Skyrim does none of this. It's a timesink on a level DA:I can only dream of.

How much time collectively has been spent harvesting butterflies and moss, chopping wood and scraping leather all to level up for a 'story' that's barely five hours long if played without all the d!cking about?  Spend fifty hours becoming a thief, another fifty becoming a werewolf, or a vampire and...  it has precisely nothing to do with why dragons are back, etc, etc.  Even Max-Exorcist-Von Sydow couldn't save this stinker.  In collective man-hours alone...  *shakes head*  boggles the mind what could have been accomplished otherwise.  Nevermind.

Jump through thirty hoops so the water looks 'realistic' and the clouds scud over like for reals.  'Real' breast physics (no one sees how fundamentally pathetic that is? That's anime-level stupid.)!  Five thousand sad reiterations on bikini armor.  The last one I saw was some lace body suit.  I think it had a clasp that gave something like 200 armor or some crap to 'justify' it.  Yeah.  I rolled my eyes so hard on that it could actually be heard in another room.

Pretty and boring is not better than just boring. People should have been angry over Skyrim.  The ability of an idiot to gleefully put a bucket over the idiot head of an idiot NPC and then steal all his idiot cheese before going out and idiotically chopping idiot wood for an hour was not a triumph of anything. Yes, it was vaguely cool to have the ability to do that if one wanted to.  But why would you want to?  We invented chainsaws for a reason.  If you have to chop cords and cords of wood by hand for really real, you can bet there's no stinkin' nostalgia to it in this sad simulator.  Trust me on this.

Any game that requires five hundred mods before it's remotely playable is not a good game and wasn't from the beginning.  Needing that many mods to make it doable is not a point in its favour

Oh, for...!  even I just spent a wall of text talking about this stupid black hole of a 'game'.

Honestly, if Skyrim is the best alternative to Dragon Age, there's no bloody hope for this genre of games at all.

I need a whiskey aspirin...

 Snip

Most of the DAI discussions have run their course. Especially with the Bioware Studio acting as if it morphed into The Silentium Crypt (ie: dead silence). With about 57 posts under your belt, there is plenty of "on topic" material that will be very educational, if you start reading from the beginning.

The fact that other games are being discussed should worry EA. Some of us are moving on to other games because of their supersonic speed (http://www.nature.co...at-last-1.13418 ) in fixing the game to meet our concerns.

Alas, DAI, for the majority in this thread, is just a Flash Bang of a game.  Shutting this thread down serves no purpose other than being spiteful and possibly negating good will about ME4.

So because Console players can't experience mods  PC users must do without them? So we both end up getting naf DLCs - while modders get told to take a hike. Nice!

It is because Skyrim is such a milestone in the RPG genre. It redefined RPG as we know it. It so redefined the definition of RPG that its unavoidable for every RPG coming out after it has to be like it. After these thoughts nestled themselves inside the mind of Mr. Darrah and creation of this excuse of a DA game and all the 600+ pages of "discussion" all that remains is showing off of the favourite mods from Skyrim the spiritual godfather and inspiration of the current and upcoming DA titles.

Oh, come now. I use mods to ensure I have fun with the game.... mods that help me avoid the grinding. Besides, this game shows me it's alive when compared to DAI.  An UnFun game makes any other working game better.  DAI, for many is UnFun, especially when I was given the impression by ML & Co, that it would be better that DAO+DA2 by retaining the best of the old and adding improvements.... Ha!

So, to me, Skyrim is better in many ways. DAI is better in the voice acting department. I'd say even in the graphics department but DAI is worse in companion pathing. But far worse in the modding capability.  I'm not going to discuss tactics, camera, UI, inventory, KB&M, key bindings ... etc.

I'm sure you can come up with a few Skyrim is better than DAI features, if you work hard  at it.. :)

I thought that the new Nvidiadriver update would finally make the game playable, but no....after 2 minutes I got whitescreen crash. Tried to repair game, that did not help. Anybody else has the same problem?

How long do I have to wait for this game to be playable?! I am usually a patient man, but this really goes on my nerves.
