@Errationatus   If this chart is any indication, PC will be in the lowest priority.

<SNIP>

Sadly, this comes as no surprise.  Of course, if you spend half your time calling your fans 'ungrateful' and 'toxic', it certainly doesn't help.

Oh, and out-and-out lying can affect sales too.  Also, shabby spin-doctoring.  A lousy half-assed almost contemptuous console port....

Does this chart include digital sales? I'm not sure if EA shares Origin sales data.

It probably doesn't and I'm pretty sure EA doesn't share that data.  But when you compare it to what it sold on PS4 and Xbox One, it's miniscule.  It's around 3 million copies for Xbox One and slightly higher on PS4 according to VGchartz.  Of course, it's still an approximation , not 100% accurate. If you add digital sales, I guess that would add a another 50-60% to the number but that still doesn't bode well for PC.

I'm pretty sure digital sales on PC are higher than physical sales - I'd guess more than double. Nobody I know buys physical games anymore.

The game also earned a reputation for being relatively awful on the PC, which I'm sure didn't help sales. I, for one, would have bought it if they hadn't had so many screwups.

I still go for physical copies, I just feel better having a disk in my hands... though, it does kind of ****** me off when I have to download most of the program data, after I run the install disk. though, what can you do?

Same, I would rather have the ability to install/reinstall in minutes rather than hours. Besides I like putting my games on display.

@Cyan

So, from the tone of your posts, I assume the beta forum is becoming like this thread? =/

In the end we can help identify issues and voice our feedback but with a budget post-release support team (as is typical with EA), there's only so much they can do.

I can understand them wanting to move away from the Unreal Engine for Mass Effect, it's an outside engine and they don't want to pay the licensing fee.

However I will never understand the need to move from the Eclipse Engine for Dragon Age. Just to pick on one thing, facial expression/animation, I would say it was better in Origins and DAII using Eclipse than what they've managed with Inquisition in Frostbite (where everyone seems to have had massive botox injections).

I look at Inquisition and I can't think of one positive that using Frostbite brought to the game.

That't still 26+ million dollars (@ 60$ a pop).. By itself the PC pays the rent and employee salary.

Planning for the Future

A proper design from the start will give future dividends. The cross platform compiler takes care of the individual platform. All you really need is that device input agnostic overlay code sitting between the game and the physical controls. So,... that's three.. the Overlay, the Console commands and the PC commands module.  BF 3/4 already has the proper awareness of KB+M.  ME4+ PC implementation is a piece of cake.

This overlay module is more important than we realize. Already we have Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous accepting voice  and head tracking movements as game input controls.  The overlay  route will be able to take care of any future input devices, making any game suitable for any platform (provided it meets the game specs, of course).

VR devices will be ready for prime time in about 5-6 years. Game execs are foolish to ignore this coming market.

EA publishing will concentrate on the Next Gen consoles and the PC. Any "PC efforts" is just for the input device controls, which is a do once activity and then availabe to future games.

PC's will stick around if nothing but to handle future VR games, leaving the consoles choking on their dust for reasons of pathetic GPUs and CPUs.

There's a lot of rumors circulating that the next gen consoles will come sooner then later due to the current gen not being able to handle VR/3k/4k resolutions.  I guess the 3k/4k resolutions picked up faster then Microsoft/Sony had originally thought.  Also, I don't think Sony thought Playstation Now would gain popularity fast as it did.

You know I was thinking that all these patches and fixes were waiting for and the no response from BW is because there putting together a DLC to extend DA:I and fix the issues all in one neat and tidy bundle. It could also be I'm thinking to much into this but I'm hoping this is the case that Bioware is going to surprise us in the coming months and keep it quiet till it comes to release time.

31:30 - Discussion about honesty and transparency between fans/devs

Wow, imagine if AJ did this to EA/Bioware lol

Regardless it's a nice insight into the industry from the CEO of Paradox themselves.

I don' t know where you have seen 3 million for just Xbox One alone, but the rest of the numbers on VGchartz seems to be; 1,39 for Ps4, 0.64 for Xbox One, 0,41 for Ps3, 0,37 for Xbox 360...

Considering the current trend on PC; you really need to double the amount at min. for an idea of the digital sales. And that puts the PC sales in a very respectable position given its horrible status on the platform as we may notice by this thread alone or from the feedback on various sites focusing on RPG's in general...

The fact is; if you are spending minimal effort for any given platform; you should also expect minimal sales on it. It is only natural.

Frankly; i am sick and tired of the shallow arguments on Pc; being a very toxic enviroment, full of self entitled gamers and pirates destroying and stealing any good thing used as an excuse to mask the direction, incompetence and the degeneration the industry is facing...

For more than a decade; if you treat your customers like potential criminals, look them down, feed them with subpar leftovers of your platform of choice with minimal effort and compatibility; what more would you expect ?

It is not; "We focus on consoles because Pc sales are low" it is "Pc sales low because we focus on consoles". I am not buying this former argument anymore, which is a huge misdirection created by the industry. It is also self-fullfilling... And my money is definitely not going for any product which does no effort on respecting me as a customer...

@Novos  No idea where I pulled that # from. I think it's time for sleep.  :)  Global totals: Xbox one was at 638,901 copies, PS4 1,393,761, PC  450,000. Xbox360  370,000 PS3 410,000.   Even accounting for digital sales, PC performed poorly.

Why would they bother making a proper pc game when they can sell 450k copies with minimal effort in addition to the main console sales? And a lot of people think they havent even been deceived with the ads. ME4 will be probably business as usual, same ****.

i wish i could pretend bioware didn't lie to my face, and inquisition was an epic game... i think I'd be a lot happier, though I'd also likely be drooling too.

Yes, there are many games coming out and that is great. But it does not fix THIS game, does it?

This boat has already sunk, there's nothing the devs can do now (mostly because they're unwilling to).

@DAI Sales on PC - So much for destroying Bioware RPG legacy and frustrating fans of old. Proper games can still sell a lot in PC with a lot less market and bought GOTYs - http://uk.ign.com/ar...over-500k-units

But it is about consoles and sales and when it comes to this, they are right in doing what they did you can never beat the sales of a dumb game for dumb people with a true RPG for people who actually spend time thinking about what they are doing instead of holding left mouse button (or the hotkey to Spirit Blade).

Does anyone have any real figures for the ratio of digital to physical sales for the PC market? I've seen estimates all over the p,ace, but no real data.
