Patch 6 really ended mods. I did my usual thing like with patch 5, and the game won't load with any modded content. Still testing though!

Sorry guys was taking a short break - actually thought it would be a little while longer before they released. The issue with only one patch folder allowed to exist was present in the beta, but I was just hoping that was a closed beta limitation, but looks like its not and they are really trying to prevent modding. Right now the only known workaround is as Ottemis stated above. Replacing ur official patch, its not perfect, but its all we got. As any other merged folder is no longer even read. Appears it actually is forced to look for a folder called patch now

I liked my mods, but I can and did play without any. My problem now is my Quizzy has no eyebrows (they were modded) and I really wanted to finish her play-thru with eyebrows.

 

I am going to play DAO for a while. I miss it anyway.

I'm glad I'm old and irascible.  Also I have no expectations, not really, and thus no actual interest.  Curiosity has always been a failing with me though, so I tend to hang and see what happens.  There's also no point in trying to prophecy anything here, either.  It can be reasonably taken as read that failure is pretty much a given at this point.

I was actually starting to enjoy the game with the mods. I had but now I can't play it thanks to this patch................back to the Witcher!

And if I do let this thing attempt to update, Origin crashes every few minutes and resets the stupid update - always an hour longer.

 

"Failure is always the option" should be over every desk at EA.

Opening Origin today to pl......sorry opening DA: I to play MY game today and Origin jumped in to say that there was a Patch available...and also that I would not be able to play until the patch was installed.

So I had to download the f**c**** patch. This is why everyone is dl straight away, not because they are eager for failure but because they was no choice.

 

I only get to play late when babbies are sleeping and so now its taken 1 hr and only half way through the DL! No thanks for screwing my play time on my game. That messed it up totally for my night.

 

That and ME3 will not recognise DLC any more has shut me out for both games I spent a lot of money on. Less and less impressed.

And this is Soul Destroying, because I really loved those games

No CTDs while accessing the skill allocation screen so far. Crashed once in inventory screen though. Improvement on my side.

Not crapping on the betas.  Just no reason to expect success with all the previous precedents set.

 

Case in point, Origin no longer bothers to crash downloading the patch.  It just repeats an error, tries again, fails, tries again, fails, tries again.

 

I'm sensing a pattern here....

Origin did have an update about a week ago that appeared to allow it to "talk" to DA:I better. Since P5 and the Origin update, I've had no Origin-induced non-error-message CTDs at all (AMD card)--on the P6 beta, either. So if people have disallowed Origin updates, perhaps allow this one? It's helped in my case, and I've been pretty vocal about how much I despise the origin app.

It's running at triple its usual memory for me atm (idling!), so it's definitely doing something shonky.

Try setting Origin to safe downloading mode (in the advanced settings). That was the only way I could get it to work (it was kind of slow, but not too bad).

This is the first time I've ever had a problem updating through Origin, so there's definitely something wonky going on somewhere.

Ah, my mistake (now I've read the rest).

 

Well--it used to be Xbone exclusive. They're at least nodding to PC now.
