I wonder, actually, about the mod-negate-enforcement. It seems to be hard-coded outside the patch folder environment, if what I'm reading on Nexus is correct.
However, I'm not sure it's actually intended to dis-enforce (oh, gods... someone come up with the correct negative, here, my brain is fuzzy. It's midnight) mods for mod's sake, but simply because of the DLC environment. Does anyone remember the weird patch folder issues that came with the Sebastian DLC if it wasn't installed in the correct order with Legacy in DA2? (I had it; I installed Sebastian very late--well after Legacy was released). You had to fudge around the patch folders, remove bits before meeting Leliana in his Act 2 quest and whatnot (it's on the wiki if anyone wants more info). Or his quests just broke. And in that, mods weren't using the patch folder to work, unlike for DA:I.
So I think, yes, they've deliberately kiboshed mods. Hard coded it. But I also think it's to make sure this (and future) DLCs act as intended rather than to be arseholes for the sake of it.
That might just be my stubborn optimism again, though. And I don't hold out hope of them reversing it for a very long time, if ever. Which is just silly (as I've iterated well up the thread, multiple times).
Hm.. prevent? stop? shoot? skewer?
The introduction of a DLC folder to apply the dlc is a much better way than the hard-code route. It provides flexibility for both an install and uninstall function. This form of DLC installation is amateurish or designed to increase the difficulty level for modders and it maybe for themselves as well.

Yeah, I applied patch 6, but I had problems with the Mod manager not working since patch 5.
For the ridiculous "Skyhold outfit" there is Cheat Engine which allows you to keep your Inquisitor armored (the way it should be).
You didn't happen to keep a copy of your previous merge file from patch 4? if so, have you tried taking the data folder and it's package.mft from the merge folder and replacing the patch folder with it? I'm wondering if that would downgrade you back to patch 4. You probably want to backup the original patch folder first though.. Of course , only try this if you are inclined to experiment.

Cool. Understandable on the NDA, not trying to pry and wish again to reiterate not blaming any of the testers.
But why is when such a big bloody secret? It is an actual thing, right?

Nope, didn't keep the patch 4 folder, but I have tried everything suggested on the nexus site in getting mods to work again. It simply wouldn't. So I've kinda given up on it until there is a properly working mod manager again...if ever.

After reading various impressions my belief is that this was indeed cut content padded out for release as an interim DLC while they work on something better in the background. Anyhow, as long as the PC issues aren't tackled, I am not going to buy any upcoming BioWare products.

Yeah, I'm a bit stumped on the secrecy, myself, but I also do understand the wait. I think.
I will say I liked it. But I can't say why, because I have no idea what will be changed. (Good lord that's a PITA, though. I really wanted to tell people OMG Mosaic's fixed. That's kinda.... sad, really. I need a life.
)
I would also hope that it's a freebie, especially since patch 2 broke so many people's faces (in a way the shaders can't fix). But no idea, either way. I just think it would be a nice gesture, considering. *invokes Ubisoft's latest example*
@Sartoz re: patch folder/DLC/mod implementation: I can't say I disagree. Having said that... consoles don't have that issue, right? ![]()

Achievements, please! The journey is the goal, not the end. Collecting the shards and all that bs is not because of achievements. Its simply fun!
Amplitudelol has just unlocked the Achievement: "Trolling through the roof!"
Spoiler
Glad you enjoyed the fatigue, but some of us are less inclined to feel pain at that sort of personal level! Me, I'd have preferred a spell that transformed me into a goat or a mountain climber with pitons, a rope, and abseiling equipment

Who the hell releases DLC ahead of it's official trailer? That's like releasing a movie on a Friday and it's trailer on the next Friday. Microsoft has been pouring fat bucks into EA's pocket and EA never got wise. I do think it will be on PC today just to show the "noisy" PC users that "We care".
Now, this is off-topic and I do not own a PS4 myself, but isolating their PS4 user base is a step in the wrong direction, given how the game was designed for consoles. This is how EA is going to systematically destroy Dragon Age franchise along with BioWare itself. Why would they care? They have the fat bucks.
Edit: Trailer is out now

DLC is also on Origin - at least on the East Coast of Canada.
Curious to see how awesome it plays on PC.
As I'm not buying it, I would appreciate anyone who does to please tell us where EA touched you.
Danke.

From what I've seen, it is just another area similar to Hinterlands and guess what...
More Shards!
More Fetch Quests! (Though I have heard the ending was well-made)
For 15$ only.

@Drantwo As you said, Microsoft must have given EA a large influx of cash for the exclusivity since I do believe PS4 sold the most copies of DAI. I don't see how it's good business sense either but ... I think I'm gonna just keep my mouth shut now.. ![]()
p.s. I guess PoE is a bigger deal then we realized.

Enough of this I tried, I loved DAO and even DA2 but, DAI is turning inot a poorly done clone of a game I do love. RIFT. There are rifts, dragons, 6 playable races, gorgeous open world, crafting that means something, two religions, amazing skill trees and mounts that actually are important. Dungeons and, it's the MMO DAI wishes it could be.
See you over there if you want to come check it out - it's free to play just give me the referral if you would please. (Find Adaar on the Faeblight shard, if you want to see me there) https://rift.trionwo...n=ascend_invite

No. No. Absolutely ****ing NOT. I've waited for MONTHS for them to fix THEIR bloody bug that ****ed up MY characters voice. I will NOT pay EAWare one God-damned cent for a BUG FIX that should have been implemented at ****ing LAUNCH considering how poorly the CC was in the first God-damned place.
It's is so dissatisfying to put in a **** instead of caps typing what I really want to say. I've hit my level though. That's it. Done with this company. On record: I will pirate this DLC to fix my bug, then uninstall it. Finish this game, then uninstall it, Origin, and will never have anything to do with EA or "BioWare" ever again.
Message to the EAWare staff that supposedly haunt these forums but never materialize:
You should be ashamed of yourselves. You knew, without a doubt, what a turd this game is. I've no doubt you worked hard to polish this turd, and had grand hopes to truly elevate it above that, but you failed. EA overlords, or lousy leads, whatever. You failed. And this now? A cash grab to fix your already made mistakes from launch? You don't get to choose that it's paid, I know. Still... your company is scum. I pity you. To have aspired to so much, to have finally been given a chance to work at a true elite studio... and then to have all this happen. The rank and file may not be to blame, it's the management that are truly scum... but the rank and file should be ashamed of themselves. You spent four years of hard work... to ensure that the final nails were in the coffin of EAWare's reputation.
After writing this.. I don't even know if I want to bother finishing this turd. What's the damn point?
Guys, I only have the warden plotline and then the final plotline to go. Someone want to PM me the highlights? I've avoided spoilers so far, but I don't see the point any longer. This game is a helping of bull dung, served with urine to wash it down with. Why I thought they'd be able to make it palatable is beyond me.
