Yeah they did. I tried, I beta tested and, when patch 6 went live w/o a word to the beta testers, then a 24 hour announcement for paid DLC with nothing telling us what was in it ahead of time. That just isn't how it's done. At least not by a game developing company that cares two hoots about it's players.

Could be a lack of community experience by the caretakers of DAI, while senior mgt left to help out with ME4.
It's a possibility.
Edit: Nah.. forget that. I just read ML's twits regarding JoH. Seems he's fully aware of JoH DLC. This quote is telling..
"..walk toggle, and sheathe/unsheathe weapons. Mostly for cool factor.".. Yep, Mike, we love DAI because of the COOL factor.

Wow. A great, big, fat "meh" from me. I wish them success with this, and the Dragon Age franchise going forward, but I'm out. Oh look there, Pillars of Eternity is out in a couple days....
yes - Yes - YES!!
I couldn't continue with DA:I even if I wanted to now, as I can no longer get past the war table without getting that 'infamous' DX error crash. Hello PoE and GOODBYE DA:I. Perhaps one of these days Bioware will be able to tame and stabalize their game. And they honestly want people to buy their dlc? Perish the thought.

Yeah well, I can have all of that "cool factor" elsewhere, and actually talk to the devs in game while being cool. And if thy aren't around, an email or PM will get an answer as soon as they log on again. And they tell us if they are going on vacation or something, ans who to contact in the meantime, if we need a dev for something we are working on. Then there are GMs to help with odd things like a glitched quest, getting stuck and being out of recalls, etc...
Oh and I get to ride this, because you really do need a mount in this OTHER game and, that UI is pretty cool, not even half the stuff I could put on there if I wanted - it's customizable per player. (that's my home base - equivalent of Skyhold I'm sitting in the outer plaza of, by the way.)

So , haven't been around inawhile, and imagine my surprise when I see that patch 6 has gone live secretly lol Don't most companies really publicize and announce patches? EA BuyO'Ware is so afraid they've broken something else they don't even mention their patches lol
So without re installing the game, im just gonna assume that the texture flickering is still rampant along with the super stutter and white fog bugs on SLI rigs? Sureley they didnt actually FIX anything did they?

The release of the Patch was announced on Bioware's blog and social media, as well as here in the Patch Notes thread.
I'm all for criticism, but can we confine it to criticizing things that actually happened?

Yeah, when it went live. Not right, at least the beta testers should have been told before hand that testing was over for patch 6 before it went live.
How would you like to be in the middle of doing something you were told you had to do for work, then, the boss just takes it and sells it w/o warning, finished or not and, you were never given a date it had to be finished by, nor warned even an hour before that it was going to be sold. You found out because it was on the store shelf when you stopped for morning coffee? That's basically what they did to us beta testers and that is wrong.

The more I get back into Rift, the more I see DAI as a poorly done single player clone of a wonderful MMO that has been successful for the last 4 years. I hate to dis Bioware but, really if you like the idea of DAI, the rifts, dragons, race option and gogeous landscapes. The crafting, and all - go play Rift, it is what DAI could have been in so many ways.
Im not gonna say i told you so... but damn! I told you so! I dont even know why not Rift came to mind first when i noticed the similarities to mmo-s, i mean you close rifts, lol. Still it mixes things from a lot of mmorpg-s out there, it even could have been sort of good (if not counting the console combatsystem) if now or then they drop in some meaningful quest or single player stuff in the zones. In the end BW alienates even those who beta test their ****. Those DLC sale wont be good for PC i guess.

I played RIFT a year ago.... at that time it has micro$transactions.

It still does, if you want the stuff from the store but, it isn't pay to win. That started when it went free to play. Just a way to support the game for those that can't afford to subscribe or, choose not to subscribe. You get enough free or with in game money to do all of the content, there is no BiS for a micro transaction. Most of it is cosmetic or boosts or, things that you'd have to farm for if you didn't want to spend the cash for them.
Nice thing is, they gave us what they call REX, a package of store credits that can be bought then sold for in game money, or given to another player so, you can get the store items w/o spending any real cash at all.

Not that I'm aware. I believe the exact wording was "after patch 6", but I'd have to check my notes. Except I didn't make any notes.
OK, Googling finds that all they said was "we are continuing to work on it". So basically, it'll be done when it's done.

Solution: perma-haste + high dex for not missing any of those loooooong swings. And craft two-handed Starfang (you have many, many powerful one-handed weapons, 2-handers, not so much till you kill Cauthrien) .
By the way, how are you, dear Bethgael? Didn't know you were doing medieval fighting arts or maybe reenactment...I'm considering it myself. How is it?
I don't do re-enactment.
It's been a while since I did WMA, but I liked it. Then I got ill (2009) and haven't gone back to it. Considering it, especially now. Feel like hitting things right now.
As for how I am, pretty livid atm.
$24.99 for Australians. I can buy an entire effing game for that. (current exchange rate for US$14.99 = AU$19.05 for context).
As for RIFT, have to disagree, respectfully, with DAm--I close, then open beta'd that game, too, and loved it right up until it went FTP (and yes, the beta testing experience was fantastic--devs played with us to test the game). However, they continued charging my card, even for months after I deleted it from my account and stopped playing for a while--and then they refused to refund me. At that point, I don't care how good a game is; I'm not doing business with the company any more.

@Dark Amaranth1966 Not to be the ****** here, but get over yourself hon. Beta testers are a dime a dozen, our job is to test and report, nothing else. Its not our company, not our job to do anything else. If you have issues, then don't volunteer to Beta test. And yes I do Beta test, I also have been a moderator in MMO I will not name, and self important players who think they know everything are a pain in the behind. they made the game, you volunteered to test a small portion of it. What they do after a test is their company, not yours.

I agree with you right up to the point where a patch goes live while but no one's been told not to stop testing stuff, or that it's on its way. That's just rude. @Wiseass: We literally found out about it because it appeared on our Origin app, before it was blogged/announced.
As a part of my day job, I have been the programming director of speculative fiction conventions and writing workshops, both as a volunteer and as a Volunteer Wrangler. Just because people are volunteers, that doesn't mean you treat them with unprofessional disdain. In fact, the very act of them deciding to help you without being paid means they should be treated with at least the same respect you'd treat an employee.
Re: Cyan, D&D--would love to, but I'm DMing a home pen and paper game next month so may not have a lot of time. Youngest child is about to have 2 weeks' school holidays so we're trying to get it going asap. But keep me in the loop; if I can, I'm in.

Beta testers especially volunteer ones are not in the food chain, there was nothing you signed in the NDA that said "Bioware will notify you of impending releases or changes". If you wanted that, then apply to be a paid employee. Not sure why you all think they or anyone have to be nice about stuff.

I'm fairly certain it's not.
More on topic, was there any sort of announcement in the beta forums before Patch 5 went out? Because that would have set a precedent.
#16444

That happened in Patch 5. So, he's announcing it now. Nice....
It was announced on March 2 in patch notes; simply indicated again today, this time visually:
"Added an Option to increase the maximum zoom level when using the Tactical Camera."
But then, some complain either way; posted for those that actually are interested in fixes.

Yes, we were. "Patch 5 is ending, sign up for patch 6." Patch 5 went out a day or so after Patch 6 testing started. Precedent set. ![]()

I'm thinking of the word respect.. or perhaps a heads up since Bio was about to announce it to the world anyway... an easy way to thank the volunteers. Also, the word politeness comes to mind. ..

Read my tagline, being responsible doesn't mean being nice. You all assume they are playing by the same morals you have. That is an assumption. They(Bioware) is an entity that does whatever the person in charge feels like doing for whatever reason they choose. Nothing says they have to be polite.
#16449
Posté 25 mars 2015 - 12:17
No, nothing does.
But in an effort to appease the PC community, they started the beta programme. Being rude kinda flummoxes that, doesn't it?
They don't have to be nice, no. But it's pretty counterproductive to their apparent goal: appease the masses, churn out content for $? Nothing wrong with making money, at all, but you don't make money by alienating your customers. And testers are not only your customers (ie, paid for the game) but they're trying to help the company make their money.
Forget how we feel, just for a sec: "not nice" = "pretty bloody stupid".
And I don't remember Canadians being "not nice". ![]()

Since you were one of the Beta Testers may I ask a question on the auto-attack? Is it working just for melee? Or archer too? Because I tried it and my archer seemed to hesitate and get confused when one or more enemy were in sight.
