Just like some video where the guy from Bioware was extatic cause they had been able to make animals and four leged things with the engine, which everyone told them would be near impossible due to the limitation of said engine. At the time I hadn't paid to much attention but when I saw the Mabari dogs and Hyena in DA:I I understood...

Yeah, at that point someone should have said maybe frostbite isn't the best engine for our game, if we need to invest so much time just to simulate four legged creatures in our open world Fantasy environment...

Have to admit, it does look gorgeous though, so there's that going for it.

I don't actually think Bioware had a choice what engine they should use.

IncGamers Poll – The most misleading line from Dragon Age: Inquisition’s PC hype video

25 Nov 2014  by   Peter Parrish

dragon-age-inquisition-pc-1024x576.jpg?4

PC users will probably remember the big song and dance made about the PC version ofDragon Age: Inquisition in a pre-release video entitled “Made for PC Gamers, by PC Gamers”. In it, BioWare employees queued up to tell us how amazing the PC release would be (see below).

As we know, things didn’t quite work out like that. Contrary to the suggestions made in the pre-release hype video (fancy that,) it turns out that the PC controls for Dragon Age: Inquisition are actually a bit of a nightmare.

But which was the most misleading statement of all? That’s what this week’s IncGamers Poll seeks to find out. We’ve given you three incredibly misleading statements about theDragon Age: Inquisition PC version to choose from, plus an option to vote for the “Made for PC Gamers, by PC Gamers” title itself. You can also go all-in and vote for “all of the above” if you wish.

You can find the poll, and your choices, below. It’s also available over on the right-hand sidebar as you navigate around the site.

_______________________________________________________________________________

You can take part should you wish, the article/poll is here ;) ;

The tactical camera has been in there for a while. Here is a video where they showed off the game during pax prime 2013, so over a year ago (you can see the tactical cam at about 20:30).

I guess they just never bothered to get it right. Apparently the Iron Bull romance options were much (much, much, much) more important than gameplay.

Sooooooo turns out I never saw this videos but from what i can see there's two interesting things :

- tactical camera WAS A LOT BETTER and a LOT LIKE DA:O

- Game was in pre alpha and already played on controller

...

...

...

- WHAT the hell happened to the tac cam ?!

- A game for PC players from PC players ? Really ? REALLY ?! you call yourselves PC players and play with stupid controller ?

My brain is melting right now...

Dont get your hopes up for a patch or any kind of fixes Bioware and EA MO is to simply move on to the next game or DLC.  Cause frankly they already got our money so why bother?

IncGamers Poll – The most misleading line from Dragon Age: Inquisition’s PC hype video

A site that bills itself as dedicated to PC Gaming is having problems getting it's review copy working from Bioware.

Interesting.

It's good that this issue is getting publicity. Makes it much less possible for Bioware to ignore it (if that was the intention-not saying it is/was).

I voted, "The HUD was designed specifically for PC" because that was the most blatant lie there was.

IMHO, yes.  "PC optimization" was #127 on the list of tasks, and they got to #100 when the game was released.

- it's a console game which EA/bioware were nice enough to port to PC.  If you treat it like that, then it's a great game.

- if you treat it like a PC RPG, it's a [censored] mess.

I think DAI will (rightly) be "game of the year", and I quite enjoy it.  On the other hand, I'm not really enthused to buy any expansions or sequels as there's a lot of really annoying design problems...  and I don't think bioware have much interest in actually fixing them.

The problem is they advertised it like "Game from PC gamers to PC gamers' and "We are getting back to our RPG roots', so a lot of people that Loved the first DAO pre-ordered and with right are furious cause it was blatlant LIE. If they had said "Look it's made for consoles', me and a lot of the people here who were expecting TRUE RPG thanks to their Lies, wouldn't have bought it and wouldn't now flood the forums....

First of all, I like the game and have been able to more or less adapt myself to the keyboard and mouse setup. I don't feel that the keyboard and mouse functionality is worthy of the term "lead platform" though. The controls, in my view, feel slapped on more like an afterthought. The statements made about the pc were, in my opinion, disingenuous and misleading designed to sell people on the notion that the pc platform would be handled with all the care that it deserves. I think that if you're going to make bold proclamations then you should deliver on them. Come on the forums and address people's concerns its called customer service of course you can't please all of the people all of the time but at least show up! You guys did this with ME 3 and you did it again with this game too. I did my part and  I bought the game now you do your part and deliver what was promised.

I hate to mention this, but you aren't considering the view-points of people who are having difficulty (or aren't able to play at all) due to disabilities or impairments.

Some in the community have mentioned not being able to even use a controller due to arthritis or missing limbs.

Maybe a little more compassion on your end might be considered.

I can see that, i am mostly refering to the toxic posts about the controls and refunds. I mean if people want to go for their money back, please do just don't mention it 5 times to say you hate the game. I do apologize for offending.

Yes! You tell them! How dare they whine and curse and spit hatred, when all they had to do is a simple adaptation. And for those who paid 70$, yet are unable to run the game on their machines -- those should have gone with consoles, because, you know, adaptation and such...
Ungrateful, spoiled little kiddies! Want everything spoon fed to them. Like a better tactical controls, deeper gameplay, less tedious quests, character customisation and progression is SO yestarday and easy. We all are stupid here, sitting, complaining, not willing to accept a 3rd person shooten'up, for what its truly is: A Great [censored]

Here, have a seat

I would love to try that chair, and i will adapt  :)

Well, its nice to know that you can play game with very little issue. IF i manage to get in the game i too can play with only minor issues (issues i still hope are fixed in a patch) And yes i've searched and tried every fix i can find for certain issues I am having with his game. I've no problem with adapting. However more often then not i cannot get ingame to "enjoy the game" whilst waiting for patches. But by all means, continue to enjoy the game whilst the rest of us who cannot play atm....wait.

I am sorry to hear that, and that really sucks. I hope you get the game to run smoothly soon so you can enjoy it.

The fact is they actually are working on something. What you ask ? Well they're working on finding what they can work on. See everything above to know why it could be a real mess for them. They can't give us specifics cause they don't know yet what the hell they're gonna be able to do to make this disapear with the minimum of efforts. And even if BW could do something about UI, Tac CAm etc, it would require EA approval and they will never allow this for reasons stated before (mainly cause the game HAS to be THE SAME on PC and CONSOLES).

Most of devs from DA:I are already gone working an another project (this is common in video game industry, generally dev team is reduced by 60-80% after the master gold product (often before that !) and are only left with enough to maintain some after-launch damage control and patching.

I was a database application programmer in an earlier life!

We quickly realized that if you want to work with MS SQL or Oracle or whatever, you had to move the specifics into another layer. Keep the core functions in one space and make an MS SQL or Oracle interface. You end up with one application talking to an interface that talked to Oracle. To get the app to talk to MS SQL you just swapped the interface. Obviously Bioware have not done this. The core game can't talk to Console and M& KB both! Will stop trying to teach them to suck eggs  I guess.  My 2 cents for what it is worth

TobyJake's post, and Wildspirit to some degree, makes the case for Bioware to keep us in the communications loop. Programming is not what I do. Not a skill set for me. I do not play a game to modify it or tinker with it. That's not my enjoyment like it might be for others. I am not that type of personality.

BUT I do appreciate TobyJake's post. Attention Bioware: can you at least make a post like TodyJake's? Can you make it specific to the problems you are encountering? Can you make an official Bioware statement?

If not, then hire a TobyJake for Pete's sake. This is the type of CRISIS COMMUNICATION needed/required/non-negotiable in 2014.

And Bioware, how about you throw in the percentage of devs working on this? Wildspirit may be clever enough to have an idea but many of us are in the dark here, right Al?.

Which concerns?  There are a lot of them.

Quite right!

I literally could not decide, each option sounded better than the last so I have to go with all of the above.

It is good those guys incgamers.com are on this, but its really bad that no one else is.  Practically no reviews mention the issues with the PC port, and even fewer ding the score for it.

This! Dragon Age Origins stood the test of time because of gameplay story and feeling. Inquisition is one of the first in the new line of the "next gen" games, wich graphic wise and probably world wise won't measure up in 2-4 years. And after that what will be left?

I wish I could upvote you a LIKE here. But I have run out of LIKEs after only reading half of the new pages on this forum  today.

How about adding some sort of AI, or maybe a Behaivior Menu like the first 2 Games?

This is a massive Gamebreaker on the harder difficulties.

I dont know why u guys flaming the whole time about the controls from kb&m..

I have already 64 hours ingame-time and played the whole time with kb&m (to mention i have an gamepad x360 and it sucks)

I guess the most of u just flaming because u got some crashes.

there is nothing wrong with the controls and i HOPE they wont edit them!

Just to mention, DAO Controls wasnt even better, it was the same as now (crying people) now all say "ohh back in DAO the controls was way better", if the next DA is released all will say "Ohh back in DA: I the Controls was way better"

Just deal with it "Maker damn".

Its such a nice Game and u destroy it urself by posting all this hate and such stuff..

If u have an suggestion than post it as an suggestion but not as something like ""GO Slave do that for me""

Here is a thought...

-stop selling the game in all platforms right now

-open the doors for a refund to everyone who wants that

-come up with a new launch date...like Dec 18th

-treat everyone who already bought the game as a BETA testers and encourage them to give you all the feedback possible

-fix as much crap as you possible can based on the feedback and make true of your promises

-those who got the refund, will have to buy the game again on Dec 18th

If you look within this thread:

http://answers.ea.co...3999509/page/19 (that takes you to the last page as of this post) you will see many different specs being posted that exceed minimum and recommended requirements however there are much more important issues than just "Cutscenes".  Many of these people are experiencing entire game performance issues let alone cutscenes.   I notice the bioware employee mentions cutscenes specifically when in fact it's much more than that.

I have been able to play my game with a fairly smooth experience after a lot of tweaks even though I exceed the recommended specs.  However many people don't even get close to that yet should be having a smooth gameplay experience.  Bioware:  Please look through that thread and don't just focus on cutscenes as there are a lot bigger performance issues that shouldn't be present for a seemingly large population (19 pages worth so far and that's just one thread).

This was certainly true!

Paraphrasing : We've kept a lot of things under wrap, but how it all plays out and how it all fits together I think is going to surprise PC players

lol ^_^

I hope the forums are making enough noise to get focus on the PC issues that people are describing.

I mentioned earlier, but might have been lost in the tsunami of replied on this topic: we need to create an internet Autotune song for this fiasco. I bet the Lonely Island would do a video.....
