Still nothing that address the UI and Menus, the Mouse/KB controls, the lack of an action queue for tactical combat.
So another patch, and still nothing that address the PC specific concern raised 4 months ago.
Such a shame.

For the record, I want to say that I met a number of new people here via the beta programme, and they're a terrific mob. All trying to help PC users, all a lot of fun to interact with. None of them basement dwellers.
Oh, maybe there was an outlier, but if so, he hid well. *rubs hands* ![]()
Say what you like about me, personally, but don't attack them as a whole. Lots of hours put in, and I won't hear it.

Bioware basically asked for a hand, people replied... if I ask someone to help me carry boxes into my apartment, when they don't have to... I'm going to says thanks, and offer them some iced tea. am I wrong here?
I don't think we were even asking for the iced tea. Their lack of common courtesy is beyond appalling. "hey everyone, beta test for patch 6 is done. It will go live soon." <------ That's all anyone in beta was asking for. It took me a total of 6 seconds to type that. sheesh. ![]()
I have the utmost respect and admiration for Bethgael.
Anyone who has amazing repartee with Errationus is worthy!
I would like to thank you along with all the guys who tried to make DA:I a game worthy of the name.
Sadly it appears that the ending was decided from the start.
You efforts and those of the other beta testers are greatly appreciated.
Bioware has displayed its ethics for all to see. RIP Dragon Age.
So... I'm assuming still no keyboard/mouse fixes for PC and they're still saying "Use a gamepad"?
Pity, they won't be getting my money again until they do.
There have been some heading in the right direction (I listed them further up the thread... 3 pages back, I think).
The autoattack key has made playing a melee less painful.
It's not perfect, but there has been movement in a direction we'd be happier with (credit where it's due).

The improvements to the PC interface, as far as I've seen, are:
--Walk toggle
--A slider for setting maximum zoom past its initial setting.
--Highlighting loot items on the radial map when scanning.
--Enabling auto attack when zoomed in.
Still woefully missing is the ability to put more than 8 abilities on the hotbar.

Don't hold your breath for this one. It was done for "balance" reasons and is intentional.
Good to hear. Do you run on a Nvidia GPU?
AMD Radeon HD 7870
Though maybe its more of a CPU problem. My PC is rather dusty as well. Needs cleaning.

Last time I played a couple of months ago, the walk toggle was messed up when you got into combat
Did they fix this?
Like, if you were walking and suddenly combat started your characters moved slooooooow as hell
Just use the mod, it's better in everyway; walk, run, jog, both a toggle and hold to walk/run (different modes) -> Precise and immersive movement control. You'll be able to solve the environmental puzzles easily. Also works with the 60FPS workaround and no glitches.
Also patch-proof.
They did that bold part? How long ago was that? And mouse binding if the patch notes are correct. The improvements to the PC interface, as far as I've seen, are:

Thank you for the update NCongruous. I'm hanging on until May 19th or thereabouts. If I can click-to-move or steer with both mouse buttons I guess it'll be worth revisiting.
I disagree, given the butt hurt and self entitlement that most of you recent Beta patch testers are expressing. You have an inflated opinion of your importance to Bioware and I am tired of hearing the rants from you all.
What was that? Oh....must have been the wind...

Balance reasons? Really? How many skills are you able to control with a game pad? Aren't it max. 8, iirc?

LOL @ "balance reasons". The devs would have done a pretty poor job at this "balancing act" by only providing 8 skill slots, yet allow your character to level up and accrue more than 8 skills that are absolutely useless unless you keep swapping stuff out.
What kind of "balancing" is this? To what end?
NO.
The ONLY reason we only have 8 slots on the PC UI is because they were too damned LAZY to adapt their console port to be more suitable for PC. The entire PC UI was an afterthought.
This concept of console design and then porting to PC and trying to keep the gameplay experience consistent across platforms has severely crippled this game for PC.
A compromise that will definitely cost Bioware in the long run.
It was so important for them to get favour back from the PC community, but instead they spat in our eyes with this ****.

Oh, they were not too lazy, they did that intentional, because they do not give a rats ass anymore about PC Gamers, they want to go Console market. TBH it still wonders me that they released a PC Version after all!
And they did not spit in our eyes, because when you spit in someones eyes you still give a flying fart about him, which they clearly do not when it comes to the PC Gaming community. All they care nowadays is the console market, the PC Gaming community is just a nuisance for BEAware.
@Dubya
No they weren't too lazy.
8 slots were hardcoded from day 1.
They could not change it if their lives depended on it. It was a design choice, a treasonous choice.
They fed us PR, played with us, gave us false hope with a "beta" program that was designed to keep us quiet.
There was no intention to deliver a working game with PC controls.
Dark and Bethgael and yourself and others gave everything they had to help, but there was no intent from BW to deliver anything.
It is a slap in the face from a company I once respected.
They will not recover from this. They would rather make CandyCrush Saga and Farmville. Shame really.

I didn't know that. Sure does explain why it's not been changed at all. But neither does anyone at Bioware have the spine to come clean with fans about it all.
I honestly don't know why Bioware abandoned their PC roots, but they have, and that's that.
They should spare themselves and us the frustration of releasing any future titles on PC. They should just stick to next-gen consoles. At least then we know where we stand and we won't be lied to. We can all move on.

It's nothing personal, it's just business.
When you want to start a new franchise, new game, new car model and so on, there is always a market analysis done and those analyses are clearly in favor of the console market, because it's an easier to reach market due to his target audience. The target audience for consoles is the 18 to 34 year old male gamer. If you are not fitting into that target audience for different reasons, like me, i'm 50, you are not of anykind of interest to any market analyzer. Simple as that.
If i would make the decisions at EA, Bioware would have gone only consoles right after EA bought them.
As i said it's nothing personal, it's just business.

I guess we'll test your theory when Pillars Of Eternity reviews and sales figures start to surface.
Then it should also become clearer whether or not Bioware's "new target market" was the right move for the franchise.

And here we go!

So, I'm trying this new "mouse look" thing, and it happens that when I cast an area of effect spell I can't position it because it's bound to my character. I have to switch off the mouse look thingy, place the spell, and then switch it on again. Am I doing something wrong or is this how it's supposed to work?

That is a known bug. Hopefully will get fixed soon.

Ah, thanks for the info.
