There's your problem. You're taking his quotes and twisting them into what you want them to mean. You weren't referring to the patches? The quote you lambasted him for was specifically in reference to the patches. So either you were talking about them, or you were taking his quote about them and twisting the context to refer to the base game.

Yes, they hyped the game for "going back to its roots", but made it clear that this was in reference to the exploration and huge maps. If you instead chose to read that as "they're making a point-and-click RPG! YAY!" Then sorry, but that's your mistake. Maybe read reviews about the game's UI in the future before jumping on board?

Sorry it wasn't what you wanted it to be, but holy hell, you're twisting everything they say into something they're not, just to suit your arguments and fuel your bitterness.

LOL!

Read the reviews?... It's obvious you have not read this thread.  Otherwise, you'd know that whatever you said or implied has been discussed manay a times ad nauseam.  And, of course I'm twisting while BIO's PR Speak is as virgin as the snow... or use to be.

enough said... on to another topic.

They should have never implemented MP in a Dragon Age game, period.

Why every game now has MP? Stop ruining perfect single player games with this, you money hungry *****!

I knew it even before it came out, that the moment they contaminated a DA game with MP we were doomed and there was no coming back

The single player campaign will always be less when the game also has MP

And DAI seems like a MMO game that suddenly the devs thought, oh wait, let's make a new DA game, throw the half finished story there and then we crap out some ending, who cares! money money money

Blame EA for that. Senior mgt won't green light a game without MP. This decision was made since 2010.

Bioware has had m/p games for some time; NWN1 was a solid example, and have been told the BG series may have had a m/p community. Really nothing new here.

Not even close to the modern iteration of multiplayer we're seeing and you know it.

Cannot play the modern versions (eg; ME3, DAI), but consider NWN1 the epitome of m/p platforms. It allows for the closest to PnP gaming I have experienced; was part of a 5 yr campaign, and have been a part of the PW community for yrs. I much prefer it over MMO's and the action based designs.

No they didn't, up to launch most people expected more of a combination of DAO and DA2 which is not what DAI is. In terms of rpg mechanics its ended up being worse than both.

I've been absent because this place depresses me (like all those chirpy people in an asylum) and the stink of Bioware's decay tends to drive me away after awhile.

Also I've been hoarse from laughing my arse off because of W3.

The only reason this - DA:I - load of lying crap was GOTY was because THIS hadn't happened when it was first scheduled.

This, EA and 'Bioware', is how you market a game.  This is what you offer for the money.  Not lame trudgery and empty, overpriced DLC.

Dragon Age has been met, trumped and splattered.  EA should just drop the pretense, save itself some money, shoot Bioware in the back of the head and dump it in the pit.

It's done.

The modern version is more evocative of games like Call of Duty or Battlefield, with short matches played by a set number of players (here, 4); the main difference is the players are all on one team playing against computer-controlled opponents, instead of being split up into teams and playing against each other.

This being put in Bioware games is the worst thing to ever happen because... reasons, I guess. It's also responsible for all of the problems in single-player, including the ones involving elements of the game that only exist in single-player. (Especially those, now that I think of it.)

Reflecting upon the broken promises, lies, and disappointments of DA:I in the light of THIS and the success of PoE ... I can only shake my head and laugh. :pinched: (not really)

Whelp ... back to playing a REAL PC game made by PC gamers for PC gamers.

That's the other reason I've been scarce.  My wife is an utter fanatic for Geralt and his world and she needs a rig to kick it.  I've been slowly building her one as finances permit.  The game was a birthday present, the rig'll be an anniversary presie (we don't do Xmas) and the expansions will be just cause she's friggin' awesome.

The way EA's being run, you'd think some rival instituted the most slyly diabolical hostile takeover in history:

"No, no, yeah - multiplayer in everything!  Absolutely! It's smegging genius!  Absolute bastardo groovy genius!  Just ship the broken crap, gamers are morons, they'll wait months for tiny patches. We'll pretend to wrap content in and then put it off for three more months! What?  Noooo, the patches don't have to fix anything!  That cuts into profits!  Oh, please, PC's are a dead platform! No one uses computers anymore!  It's all smartphones and locked-spec consoles!  Love those things - standardized low-end garbage for a decade at a time, same gameplay, same stories, same everything.  First we call 'em 'reboots', then 're-imaginings' then 'reprises', then when they've been milked and everyone's disgusted, we do it all over again - only in HD and we ignore the entire fanbase except for the toadies and idiot sycophants who will brainlessly buy it anyway!  - and we. do. almost. no. work. at. all.  Brilliance."

...and EA manages to be both a poison to and of an entire industry after making some of the most cretinous decisions in gaming history.

The greatest and most disheartening pity is in how quickly this model of retardation has become an industry standard.

Path of least resistance, I guess...  *shrug*

Cyan, this game is dead. We all know it, and I think we've known it for awhile. Most of us are here waiting for a patch or fix that will allow us to at least wring out enough from this corpse to have made it worth purchasing. I don't think anyone here plans on extended MP, a half dozen playthroughs, etc.

I have to wonder if the "genii" that brought us DA:I will even give pause to wonder how it is that an "old school" 2D/iso crpg like PoE can garner so much more player appreciation than their oh-so-awesome boondoggle.

The strange thing is that while those of us who bought the game expecting a great PC DA game were often very disappointed I think the Bioware team believes that they created a great game that revived their reputation and goodwill.

The game has its moments...and I've said it before, the graphics artists put in sweat and tears.. no question about it.

It's the UI that bugs me the most. The consequence of poor design or a lack of forethought regarding the PC UI.  I can't bypass the UI and a poorly designed one will override any "goodness" I may have towards the game. I followed this game from the start and what it was capable of giving me.... but its heart was gutted and then EA asked me for my $70 bucks.

I haven't played DAI since patch 5, but have got POE, Neverwinter Diamond. And just installed Witcher 2! Another learning curve?

When will they learn?

I admit, I'm mostly here for the fallout now.  My rants about EA, the shoddy depressing game, and the culture of these forums is hundreds of pages back by this point... Which makes sense considering the game is almost half a year old.

My one playthrough was good enough I guess.  As depressed as I am about BW and and EA and all that, I suppose I am curious about future DLC.  The mirror with body editing? sounds interesting.  If they pull it off well enough, I may give this game another run.

Can any1 comment on the quality of the DLC?  I assume its simply more shard gathering with a little story attached.  For some reason the story trailer made me think of Skyrim.. which is scary considering how thy said they really studied it.  SO they make the same DLC story? LOL

But is the story compelling?  Is there much fetch stuff?  Any new things to craft?  I'm probably being way too generous, but if the DLC knocks it out of the park...  I may actually purchase it.

More of the same apparently albeit reminiscent of the better zones in the main game but the story is inconsequential.

The UI and the reduction in rpg mechanics are the worst things for me. The crafting sort of bugs me as well cause they put crafting in only to end up with less armor/clothing options than DAO or DA2. Work that one out.
