I absolutely understand why people who enjoy the game are posting in this thread. It is simple human nature to defend something you enjoy. I do it and I'm sure everyone who has posted in this thread has done it for something at some point, whether they realise it or not.

However what some seem to be forgetting is that you can like something but still dislike parts of it. I'm sure I can say with near certainty that everyone posting in this thread WANTS to like Inquisition, this thread would not have lasted so long if they didn't.

Also people have different tolerances. Some can push past things they find irritating to get the the stuff they enjoy, others find those irritations 'game breaking'.

Personally I do find the controls 'game breaking'. I can't bring myself to fight past them because I have a wealth of games I do enjoy and don't feel as if I am fighting the controls rather than the enemies.

Everyone posting here is a Bioware fan. We all want to enjoy the games they make. Please try when you see posts that you disagree with to remember that.

Absolutely true!

However, loyalty only stretches that far...and I am really sad that this marks the end of Dragon Age for me.

Why Is Everyone on the Internet So Angry?

These days, online comments "are extraordinarily aggressive, without resolving anything," said Art Markman, a professor of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. "At the end of it you can't possibly feel like anybody heard you. Having a strong emotional experience that doesn't resolve itself in any healthy way can't be a good thing."

If it's so unsatisfying and unhealthy, why do we do it?

I feel something aggressive here, but strangely I don't count me on : oh yes, a troll...

Aggressive little pests nowadays!

:P

JPR out!

PS : just joking, but a post out of context can be view as aggressive no?

I can't find the comment I posted last night, so here we go again.

I'm one of those whose PC's performance has dropped since patch 6.  Mainly very long load times and stuttering.  The latest NVIDIA driver took care of the CTD but not the other two issues.  I've had to turn down all the graphical settings to medium or low, which helped a little with the load times but not much.

I've thought about rolling back my game to patch 5, especially since the new patch broke the mods.

I personnaly stopped the update at patch 2...

Nothing interesting for me in the following patches : I like to play melee characters, but cannot achieve past level 12, the fighting, even in normal, become really too cumbersome with the actual controls...

I finished the game "by force" with a rogue archer, and didn't feel the need to have a stash : probably can be usefull in higher difficulty, but in normal, you just need some good regen potion and a correct weapon, as ttk is not a factor...

JPR out!

I got a warning post. Couldn't pull up what I said, but it was inflammatory per Moderator02. It's okay. I said my peace over and over again and it falls onto deaf ears. May 19th.

Sigh. I was just listening to LCD Soundsystem's "New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down..."

Just replace New York with Bioware and it almost fits perfectly.

I'm a native New Yorker and I get all the lyrics. Does anyone else?

Yes, this was the best entertainment ive seen in a long time on youtube! :D But i dont really think this was the case with "Laidlaw and Darrah as experts and the dummies of EA" meeting. They seem actually satisfied with what they made.

And that my friend... sums it for me. They are capable of consistent brilliance, but instead we are getting less because it pays more and not have to justify it to anyone including their PC community.

I refuse to believe that they're going out like that.

CDPR has managed to cram a grid based inventory, the character model, a bunch of stats AND tool tips on the same screen. The same thing in DAI takes more around 4-5 screen which is very confusing and frustrating. This looks so nice and clean. Works both for controller and keyboard. That's how an UI should look like.

Top-down, text-based, old-school RPGs....not really my thing to be honest. I'm more of a Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Witcher type.

I too love Elder Scrolls and think Witcher series is the bees knees, Also loved DAO. Originally I was into FPS action adventures until I found BG. Yes it is "old school" and the game is styled on BG2 (and later similar games) which set the benchmark for RPG action adventures for the future 15 years ago. I'm enjoying PoE though still trying to adjust to the cleverly designed and implemented NPC companions with their skillsets which are seemingly myriad. Going retro on this game reminds me of how much different Oblivion, and Witcher etc are in terms of how personally involved you can get. But then Witcher, Half Life 2, Oblivion, and Skyrim, are not party based games just cracking good single player ones. The other thing is playing PoE highlights how much of the original "Buzz" of interaction between NPC's Quest Originators, the PC and banter, has been lost or dropped for whatever reason in subsequent games, much more noticeable in DAI than most others. Of course far less writing involved in such games with more emphasis on visual effects, but playing PoE does give you a sense of perspective and realisation about what Bioware has left behind for good or bad. Sadly it is the bad we concentrate on here which is only natural, as it's things people do wrong rather than what they do right which become most memorable, and of course in this game there are a lot of them which bioware deliberately or otherwise put immediately under the microscope.

Skyrim and Oblivione both have critics  from the old school Elder Scrolls Morrowind and before loyalists, but despite all it's rough edges, it is beloved by members of 3 generations of gamers both PC and console. In fact from the forums the only gripe I occasionally come across is to do with the fact that console gamers want to buy a pc on the cheap so that they can get the mods some of which are unofficial cures for a lot of the niggly bugs which are still hanging around. This is not I deem a fate destined for DAI as while NWN The Elderscrolls, ad infinitum had/have their seperate MMO on line games DAI has tried to combine both in one package, with the end product seemingly not meeting the essential ingredients for either gamer unless maybe the co-op actually works?

year 1.. month 6....

TOP TEN REASONS WHY I NO LONGER PLAY DA:I...

1.) pc optimization still not addressed.

2.) crashes for both dx11 and mantle still not addressed.

3.) performance issues still not addressed.

4.) resource misallocation/over-allocation still not addressed.

5.) "speed tree" and draw distance issues still not addressed.

6.) nvidia x60 series gpu issues still not addressed.

7.) sli issues still not addressed.

8.) crossfire issues still not addressed.

9.) major game-breaking quest glitches still not addressed.

10.) texture flickering still not addressed.

The game is still broken.

The draw distances, and speed tree.

The game is also misallocating and over-allocating resources.

I have 32GB of ram on my system. I have don't have a pagefile on my system,

as I have disabled/turned it off, but the game assigns as much as 16GB to the pagefile.

I have an 8-core 4GHz cpu... which stays at 100% usage much of the time.

Memory has usage up to 16GB at times.

And Dual GPUs (either in SLI or CROSSFIREX depending which cards I have installed) that remain at 98%-100% usage even at lowest settings.

[I have tried 344.65, 344.75, and 347.09, 350.05 and the most stable is the 344.65 (or earlier) for Nvidia. But it still crashes. with and without the directx error.

The 14.09, 14.11, and 14.12 drivers for AMD. for me, the 14.12 drivers are the most stable, but still very bad performance.]

with Nvidia hardware the game crashes more often after the patch and hotfix,

and the stuttering with AMD hardware is worse.

The game is very badly coded, and broken. Dot. Period. End.

Did I mention the CRASHES?

Oh, yeah, and the CRASHES!

Oh, and by the way, the CRASHES!

Which reminds me THE CRASHES!

Are you starting to get the hint here?

But wait, there's more... THE CRASHES!!!

Quick question devs... Have you played GTA 5 on PC? You can change from K/M to Controller seamlessly. So much so that you can actually use both at the same time, it's wonderful. Yet with DA:I, I have to actually quit the game back to main menu and have to choose one or the other.

Oh yeah and 6 patches later and your inventory screen is still the worst thing in the world. Ever.

This little video may explain quite a bit about what goes on at EA/Bioware and why they fail to deliver as a result:

https://youtu.be/BKorP55Aqvg

http://www.polygon.c...awing-seven-red

"The problem isn't just ignorance on the part of marketing and publishers, it can be a failure of leadership at the developer to support the people who know what they're doing."

It's likely that's exactly what happened. I've often wondered the same in companies I've worked for- which is, if you hired me to do a job, you "trust" me to do the job, so why do you dismiss everything I say as invalid? Because I'm not telling you what you want to hear.

Project Manglement at its finest.

The people making decisions should be those who are technically proficient in their fields- not people who have just enough "charisma" to talk a good game but really don't know what the hell they're talking about. I teach my team to be independent- to know what they're doing, and know how to resolve issues- not to blame someone else or throw another under the bus. Make mistakes, learn from them and move on. I also teach them that the door is open for suggestions and alternatives- but unless they can show me why their suggestion is better in practice (not just theory) then we go with *experience*. They have just as much "say-so" in how we operate as a department- because it's a team effort, and not an ego trip.

They respect me because I roll up my sleeves and am in the trenches with them every day- I don't sit behind a desk and "delegate" everything. I show them that I know what I'm talking about, and I've never had them once refuse to do anything I've asked them to do, or complain. They're eager to learn more- and show what they've learned. I absolutely abhor "traditional" management- and I'll quit and be homeless on the streets before I proceed with such a narrow-minded perspective.

Ideas are great and all- without ideas and imagination, we wouldn't have innovation- but there comes a time where experience and practicality takes hold.

Will this make me "rich beyond my wildest dreams"? Perhaps not... but I do know that they'll pass on what I've taught- and eventually others will learn the same. If you're the type of manager who's full of hot air and nothing else, trust me- your days are numbered.

You can fool some of us all the time... and all of us some of the time....
